There is a griz in northern Montana that routinely shadows elk hunters, a friend was included in that group. He talked with a Ranger, who knew about this bear, and told my friend that the bear wasn't hunting the hunters, but just lazy! Turns out the bear would wait for the hunters to make a kill and field dress the take, and when the hunter left would move in to clean up the remains Apparently the bear has been doing this for years...
Yes bears most certainly do eat hunters, or anyone else for that matter. It's pretty well documented that we are on their menu as a selection. Now they don't tend to portray predatory behavior, but it does happen. When it does, DO YOU WANT TO BE THE ONE THAT'S NOT PREPARED?

Grizzly bears should be exterminated with extreme prejudice... did you know they kill almost 3 people a year on average? Yeah, its a little less then vending machines, staplers, or even paper cuts.... but it needs to end
Don't forget, bears don't have very good eye sight. It could be that once the bear realized it was walking toward humans, it turned and ran away. Reminds me of my Social Life.
I don't believe those guys were being serious about those Bears. They can hit 30mph on a charge. Once they decided they're going to attack, your ass is grass unless you've got a BFG and are a good shot.
These guys (at least one of them) clearly didn't know what to do in the situation that a bear took interest in them. That's the most deadly thing in the wild, ignorance.
Horváth Benedek - A bow in it.. You mean an arrow in it? People hunt and kill grizzlies with bows all the time, it is an extremely effective killing machine. They also had a pistol.
@@claymac7895 I meant arrow, the text prediction probably sumed I wanted to write bow, considering I used the word a sentence before. No, bows are not effective killing machine, because they do not cause tissue damage to kill the bear fast enough. They might do if you hunt from a post, and the bear does not see you. A charging bear? A cross and a prayer is more effective. They mentioned A gun. ONE. One guy had a gun, the other had a bow. The bow guy was unprepared. Talk with actual hunters BTW. Even if they hunt with a bow, they will have a Desert Eagle or a .44 magnum revolver for animal attacks, because bows are not fast enough. Even assuming you are quick with the bow, you will make maybe one follow-up shot before the charging bear gets to you, and you are dead.

I was never exposed to bear territory and wasn’t expecting to encounter a bear since I lived most of my life in urban areas. This bear was close, about 75 to 100 feet behind me..all I could do was slowly stand up, drop my cigarette, raise my arms and walk backwards saying, “no, no, no” , until it was out of my site, and boy, it was a long walk back to the front door

That was a tough bear. I`ve had my fair share of bear encounters, and they`ve aways run off when they saw me. This one came really close, and didn`t seem to be very scared. Strange... But you guys made a mistake when you didn`t make sounds and let the bear know you were there. You should have screamed and yelled from the moment you saw the bear. You did everything wrong in this situation.
I heard it's a bad idea to yell and make loud noises with bigger bears like Grizzlies and Brown Bears because they take it as a threat. I heard what you are supposed to do with them is stand your ground but keep a calm voice to let them know you are there and that you should avoid eye contact
MTrefiner , I lived AK bush for 27 years & bears DO NOT fear humans. Black bears in particular see humans as FOOD. They are however instinctively aware of human pheromones & when one is UNafraid they smell that & know theyre dealing w "something" that can kill them. IF theyre hungry/desperate enough they will attack anyway. Ive had literally 1000s of bear encounters & the ONLY absolute is their unpredictability. DO know that the more familiar they get w humans the higher the probability of an attack as experience has taught them we are "harmless". AK F&G teaches once you get a "cabin bear" ( one that keeps coming back around) KILL IT!!
MTrefiner , I lived 27 years in remote Alaskan bush. Worked w the worlds BEST bear F&G experts & taught THEM stuff about bears they didnt know. All they had was "College" educations which at best is scetchy. Nobody knows the wildlife better than thoes of us whos EXPERIENCE has taught us. YOU sound like a college boy w NO experience. Just another self acclaimed "troll" whos only half right. After youve lived w bears daily & had 1000s of bear encounters, raised 13 abandoned cubs, and have some REAL experience you/I can have an intelligent conversation. Til then, don't let your " knowledge" get you killed. Tredwell thought he knew bears & now hes bearshit. Anyone who thinks bears are afraid of people is a fool. Granted, some have learned CAUTION but they're never afraid of mere humans. And your wrong about them not fearing death. Instincts alone have a built in self preservation mode. Hunger or rage over rides that instinct FOR last ditch attempt to STAY alive when they're starving.

I’ve never seen grizzlies hunt in pairs before, very interesting behavior. I can’t figure out if the brown bear is a sow and the blonde is her cub or if the brown one is a boar and the blonde one is a sow.
Bears don't have the best eyesight, that's why it was getting so close, to see what you were. When he got to the point where he could see what you's were, he thought, "Shit! Sasquatch! That's more than I can chew, I'm outta here!"
A hand gun will get you killed in that situation. I grew up in Alaska. My friends father shot a grizzly six times with a 300 magnum. Then he climbed a tree and shot it twice more reloading as he shot. The bear still lived for five minutes. If he hadn't had a tree, he would have been dead. Most of the bullets went through the chest. A large grizzly cannot climb a tree, but it can knock it over. You need a 12 gauge shotgun with slugs or a 45/70 and you need to know where to shoot to stop a charging bear. If a bear is charging you, you need to break his shoulders. Head shots are usually fatal for the hunter. The bear has a slanted large bone in the front of his head and the bullets will often ricochet due to the angle of deflection.
And So casey there has the gun all ready and his teeth are clenched in hate, He pounds with cruel violence his gun he tempts his fate; And now the bear comes walking in, and now he sneers in hate, And now the air is shattered by the force of Casey’s shot. Oh, somewhere in this favoured land the sun is shining bright, The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light; And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout, But there is no joy in Alaska-mighty Casey has mis-fired out!! lmao

Less than 2 months from 9 years ago with 756, 056 views on 11/14/18. In between my first view of this video and this current one, I really think this video really exemplifies just how fast these beasts can run!
I was in the woods in Red Dead 2 and i came upon what appeared to be an abandoned shack. I went up to it and opened the door and to my surprise I was face to face with a large grizzly ! It moved towards me immediately and I didn't have time to close the door. I heard my horse behind me, running away as the bear knocked me to the ground. It was on top of me for what seemed like an eternity. Then everything started going black as the Grizzly tore my character to pieces. And the moral of this story is, be careful with abandoned shacks or cabins in the wilderness! Also, when I replayed the beast was gone! And I examined the shack and discovered that it got in there through a back door it had busted down .
Great video..people should take a lesson from the bear ..evaluate each situation on the experience.. encountered black bear on three separate occasions.. all ended positive..I hike regular..black bear population is on the rise..educate yourself

I know there are lots of laws, I used to go fishing with my dad. I just said that because this friend of my parents had a polar bear pelt in his den, that he had bought up North. I'm sure it would make a pretty warm bed cover, coat or even fur hats.
Let the bear know your there so it doesn't keep coming at you. Less chance of having to shoot it. Think you guys wanted the bear to get close so you would have a reason to shoot it.
@BrianWest- That’s not what they were doing at all. That bear could have killed them quite easily had it decided to do so. You think they would intentionally try and get a huge grizzly to attack them when all they have is a pistol?
Probably. I hate hunters. Such a dismal display of low evolution. No wonder we're Type 0 civilization. No wonder the E.T.s won't disclose themselves. Hateful killing humans. So low.
Wow! did you say that they wont let you bring the bear maze? That's not good going to a bear country. Second bear was as tall as half those trees. That was not wise at all. So glad that you lived to post this video.
Those bears ran a log way, just in the video. No telling how far they were running before that. They're tired, thirsty. Let them go. No need turning a "decent" situation into a "terrible" one by wounding a 500+ lb grizzly. Ever seen one get mad?...I have. Not pretty if you're within charging range. These guys were probably crappin' their pants, I would too, but it wasn't all that bad when you look at the whole picture through a computer screen hahaha
They aren’t only super fast, but if I run as long and, as fast, I would have to stop several times, because of becoming winded. But they didn’t even stop to take a short breath after all that running! The mighty grizzly!!
Acutally, you want to be downwind of the bear. If you were upwind, the wind would carry your scent toward the bear. Also, studies have shown that bear spray is much more effective than a gun. Unless you are an expert marksman, hitting a charging bear with a fatal shot is difficult. Bear spray is like a sawed off shot gun - a cloud of 2% pepper spray changes their mind real quick. And that handgun is useless against a grizzly and most other charging bears.
you got the gun, get the gun out Casey... Casey: shit I don't got the gun ...all I got is the bow. SHit where's the gun...oh I got it...but I think I shit my pants
This is what I like. The Hunter becoming the hunted! Just a little taste of what animals encounter on a daily basis 👍 Too bad the bear wasn’t interested 😔
I wonder if they see the irony in how they felt being hunted. They seem like nice guys so no hate. I eat meat so no hate on taking meat either. But I see too many hunters who think they are big for killing an animal when all hunting was ever meant to be about was obtaining sustenance. Most hunters I've met in recent years are cowards with dick issues who enjoy inflicting suffering over it. Yet some still truly hunt for sustenance and are called poachers for it while license buying goons are called the ancient and honorable term hunter. Very Orwellian.
Trophy hunters are as bad as some of the scum bags in jails , there is no viable reason for these guys , a thirst for killing that's all. I do carry a lot of respect though for the hunters that do so to survive and have real purpose to hunt.
@@wilmaknight9127 you are SO RIGHT! My hat off to you for seeing the "TRUTH" about what many in our modern day society have termed to be the "SPORT" of hunting! Hunting...IN MY EYES...has NEVER, nor will EVER be a "SPORT"! The killing of an animal is NOT in ANY way SHAPE or FORM a "SPORT". I am a hunter, and I see no "SPORT" in it...WHAT SO EVER! To the contrary hunting is anything but a sport, it may be termed a "TRADITION" by some, and in all actuality the hunting, and killing of the animal is NOT the "TRADITION"...it's the time and moments that you strengthen your realtionships with your loved ones and friend's that is the "TRADITION"! The gathering of family, and friend's around the supper table to enjoy what God had blessed our family with was the "TRADITION"! However my heart is deeply saddened at what hunting has turned into in today's era. People who kill...just to kill! People who use inadequate means of harvesting an animal, and ALL the "TROPHY HUNTER'S" who kill an animal for "JUST" it's head, or hide, or fins, or feet! All these types of hunter's are no better than any modern day criminal, and I wish our society would treat them as such, and our laws we're just as strict and harsh for them as they are for other criminals! Maybe then all the purposeless killing would stop? I do work, and I will admit that I don't necessarily NEED to hunt. I can put food on my table, and survive without harvesting an animal. However I have to admit I love to hunt, and I grew up in a family that hunted. I grew up on a farm, and I had chores to do daily. I learned from a very early age to RESPECT "ALL" animals. There we're times when I was a child that I remember my father waking up very early and grabbing his gun to go out hunting. He would return with small game such as rabbit, and quail or pheasant, and if we we're really blessed he would sometimes bring home a deer! We would be overwhelmed with joy and we would thank the Lord for dad's bounty! You could DEFINITIVELY say that there we're "HARD TIMES" for our family in my early childhood days, and that dad had to hunt, or we wouldn't have meat on the table, and there were times that we did'nt. As I stated I am a hunter, and I love hunting, but I ABSOLUTELY HATE the killing part of it! I ALWAYS have, and I ALWAYS will! It's the smell of fresh Huneysuckle, watching the chipmunks at play, the solitude, looking at the trees blow with the wind, the quieting of my mind, and looking over my shoulder and picturing and my father or grandfather beside me...that's where the love of hunting comes from for me! I use EVERY single part of every deer I harvest, or rabbit, or any other animal. Almost nothing is wasted! There was once a great people in which this pratice was utilized as well, but that's a whole other story! Thanks for your much intelligent insight. For those who KNOW what hunting is, and for what it's "TRUE" intentions we're, and are to be used for, your comment is a breath of fresh air!

Many people mistakingly believe that Grizzly Bears do not have much stamina. They couldn't be more wrong.Grizzlies can fight for well over an hour and they can run at high speeds for miles, often literally running through small diameter trees and breaking them off at near ground level while in pursuit and chasing down their prey. Grizzlies literally run down various species of prey animals once thought impossible for them to do,&few animals can come close to the ferocity an angered or hungry Grizzly exerts. Never run from a Grizzly as you will activate their instict to chase,&they Will run you down at speeds up to and slightly exceeding 35mph.

One of the best vids I've enjoyed also. Thanks for posting this. It was better than a suspense movie. He's looking, he's turning, oh shit, he's coming this way... Brave men. Good work and what a memory for you forever.
Really cool video guys - you handled the situation a lot better than a lot of these know-alls posting here would have. I'll admit though, I was waiting for that warning shot when he came up over the river bank...
Very cool experience. I’ve never seen a big mature grizzly boar hunting as a team with another grizzly.
Mike Creigton You make a good point. By that same definition how did Tim Treadwell believe Bears were his friends and companions?
Mike Creigton they're "built for the kill"
David Lamotta hey that timmy was just PLAIN stupid,he didnt have the right to approach wild bears w/o knowledge and he was alone in the bears domain, aleast he should of bought and brought his pistola(gun) . I dont feel sorry for these kinds of people who think that they can be friend a bear especially. Rip bruh✌
Grizzly bears should be exterminated with extreme prejudice... did you know they kill almost 3 people a year on average? Yeah, its a little less then vending machines, staplers, or even paper cuts.... but it needs to end
I thought bear meat was bad?
Holy Moly! That was intense, real-time scary stuff. Had me on the edge of my seat. Thanks!
Don't forget, bears don't have very good eye sight. It could be that once the bear realized it was walking toward humans, it turned and ran away. Reminds me of my Social Life.
Who else turned their phone when the grizzly ran to the edge of the screen?
You were upwind and the bear smelled you, even from that far away. It was coming for you and you didn't even realize it. Very lucky!
Great footage. That's the same size bear we had walk through our camp at Pacific Creel last September.
Gets your attention.
I don't believe those guys were being serious about those Bears. They can hit 30mph on a charge. Once they decided they're going to attack, your ass is grass unless you've got a BFG and are a good shot.
I would never let them get that close to me. They are too dangerous at close range.
Thanks for this video! It shows another great example of why we need to protect our second amendment rights.
Hell yeah, I'm with you 100%.
Huge powerful majestic animals. Grizzlies are not afraid of anything. He looked like he was thinking about charging those hunters for a minute there.
These guys (at least one of them) clearly didn't know what to do in the situation that a bear took interest in them. That's the most deadly thing in the wild, ignorance.
TAnnich11 agreed 100%
They clearly didn’t know what to do? That’s ridiculous.
@@horvathbenedek3596 Do not disagree but a sow grizzly was shot and killed with a bow and arrow some years ago in southern Colorado down around the Spanish Peaks area. Look it up on the internet.
I've heard some big bears skulls are too thick to perforated with shells...
Is this true?
Ní Síocháin Gan Saoirse Yes, you need at least a .45 to penetrate a grizzly skull or it’ll bounce off.
A .357Mag with 180gr will do the job.
A 10mm with a 180 - 220gr will do the job.
A .460Rem will do the job.. It also fires 454 casual and 45LC..
That bear hit your scent trail right at 4:20 and immediately came about hard to starboard.
This was quite intense. It's obvious at the end that he kinda bumped into you. If I was there, the smell of my crap would have scared him off for sure.
Anyway, beautiful landscape and a great experience.
I wonder if the larger bear was hunting the other bear when it came across you. It dose happens
A few years back, I was in Blue Ridge mountains, it was morning and I was sitting in a gazebo smoking a cigarette and thought I should look behind me, I saw a black bear crouching, starring and sniffing in my direction.
Where was this filmed? Amazing footage.
Awesome video! These guys are braver than I am. I would never let him get across the river! He'd just wash away! Props for not shooting them though.
Great video! That's an experience you'll remember for the rest of your life.
"who's going to man the gun"
Love it!
Thats why i never bow hunt.
"Casey" Do we need to look big ",
Well that before you poop your pants.
With all seriousness, i respect the patience these two gentlemen showed. My heart is racing from watching the video.
Haha "No, I thought you had the gun..."
Trophy hunters deserve whatever Mother Nature does to them.
Yep. If you don't need the meat leave animals alone.
Agreed- those rich, out of state trophy hunters deserve to be hunted.
No problem with ethical hunting for sustenance.
Trophy hunting and hunting in general pays for the lions share, no pun;) of wildlife management. You two should probably expand your perspectives.
@@tballstaedt7807
I'm good with my perspective:
Kill for food OK.
Kill for sport, I'd rather see Ma Nature get the kill.
@@alphashifter2207 I am not making a moral argument. Merely saying there is a way for wildlife to pay for its own management rather be a net loss on the tax payer.
Bear slowed down as it approached the hunters like, "Don't tase me bro".
"hold me, Casey."
That was great! Hope y'all have learned more about bears since then. Glad y'all were ready for action at least. Nice footage.
Pretty intense guys! Living and hunting in BC my whole life I have also had a few grizz scares and it's pretty tough to stay calm and keep your mind clear. well done!
how far were they when the camera first captured them???amazing video..
Man I got chills for you two! That was a close call.
Whoooo wee, those bears went the other way because they smelled 2 guys with at least a couple of fresh turds baking in their shorts! 😂
“That’s a big bear”,Ik he means for the species,but it’s like no shit it’s big,it’s a bear 🤣
We have Grizzly here in BC so you take a big chance hunting some areas. How do you say no to 1200lbs. Makes my 30-06 feel puny.
The best 8:39 spent on RUclips too date!
Five BIG stars * * * * * for your composer guy's!
@J C lmao yes
First Red Flag........Bear never stopped to drink water at the stream. He just kept coming. You guys must have felt your heart beating outside of your chest. Oh boy! Nice video. Glad your safe.
Yellyman you must of stunk real bad for any bear not to attack you. lol
@@davejan744 ...I have black bears in my backyard...they pass thru as it's an old trail they've used for centuries. Never have they ever come near me or seemed aggressive in any way. They are shy, secretive, and very quiet. My 3 dogs ran up to one passing thru, and I ran after them yelling NO NO. The dogs stopped, they knew, the bear kept walking didn't skip a step...looked at me, knew I was protecting it from the dogs, and just kept walking....went his merry way into the woods.
1:28 I assume that is a rhetorical question because I'll have my own.
You guys got a bigger "set" than me and I would have had to throw my underwear away! I would have fired a warning shot at a minimum. Good video
Need to save your bullet's but yes me too. But bear tales has bears complete brains blown out and still went 100 yards and killed Hunter. Story from howtohunt.com on RUclips talks about a bear shot and his guts spilling out and snagging on brush and he chews out his own intestines and still continues on. But crazy thing is those aren't even the biggest threat out there possibly these.ruclips.net/video/Kdp6LE76tXk/видео.html
I’ve never seen grizzlies hunt in pairs before, very interesting behavior. I can’t figure out if the brown bear is a sow and the blonde is her cub or if the brown one is a boar and the blonde one is a sow.
WoW, I didn’t know they travel that fast with that kind of endurance.
Bears don't have the best eyesight, that's why it was getting so close, to see what you were. When he got to the point where he could see what you's were, he thought, "Shit! Sasquatch! That's more than I can chew, I'm outta here!"
"Do we need to look big"? LMAO nah guy, just look like you can aim straight!
Caribou hunters taste like chicken...
Grizzly country with a pistol? Give me a 375 H&H.
what I was thinking also ,nothing smaller than a 338 Win. Mag.
@@stevendeatley4878 I agreee, and I'm getting up and talking to the bear as soon as it sets foot in than river.
And So casey there has the gun all ready and his teeth are clenched in hate,
He pounds with cruel violence his gun he tempts his fate;
And now the bear comes walking in, and now he sneers in hate,
And now the air is shattered by the force of Casey’s shot.
Oh, somewhere in this favoured land the sun is shining bright,
The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light;
And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children
shout,
But there is no joy in Alaska-mighty Casey has mis-fired out!! lmao
Lol, takes me back!
Let me ask shouldn't they have a high powered rifle not a handgun?
He said "Should we get big?"
"Nope" (Gun out, cocked and aimed) lol
🤣 Amazing sighting and footage!
+Billie Jo Korn Thanks for putting this on RUclips, still going strong 6 yrs later. I find it one of the more unique bear videos. The comments about trophies? That may have benefitted you & your partner in some small way, but the benefit of this video to the public? 475,115 people have had the benefit of enrichment from watching it, not to mention learning many things from the comments. Good job-be safe!
Less than 2 months from 9 years ago with 756, 056 views on 11/14/18. In between my first view of this video and this current one, I really think this video really exemplifies just how fast these beasts can run!
what about the other 2 bears behind you ?????
Great video guys! Keep up the great work. Thumbs up to all the great hunters!
It’s amazing how fast they can move.
Was this filmed on a vhs tape
Great video..people should take a lesson from the bear ..evaluate each situation on the experience.. encountered black bear on three separate occasions.. all ended positive..I hike regular..black bear population is on the rise..educate yourself
David Basch Sr. - That is not a black bear.
MTrefiner - That is not a black bear.
Wow. That's scary stuff. Man. I would be changing my shorts after that.
Excellent vid!! would love to see you take him with that bow!! Refreshing to hear what seems to me as some non arrogant, decent, low key self respecting hunters loving the experience
Think you guys wanted the bear to get close so you would have a reason to shoot it.
he did say it would be a nice trophy
@BrianWest- That’s not what they were doing at all. That bear could have killed them quite easily had it decided to do so. You think they would intentionally try and get a huge grizzly to attack them when all they have is a pistol?
Bears can and do sometimes keep coming at you even if you make your presence known. Watch another vid: "We're not food" as proof.
Probably. I hate hunters. Such a dismal display of low evolution. No wonder we're Type 0 civilization. No wonder the E.T.s won't disclose themselves. Hateful killing humans. So low.
@@claymac7895 Hunters don't have high i.q.s..very low.
Wow! did you say that they wont let you bring the bear maze? That's not good going to a bear country. Second bear was as tall as half those trees. That was not wise at all. So glad that you lived to post this video.
Those bears ran a log way, just in the video. No telling how far they were running before that. They're tired, thirsty. Let them go. No need turning a "decent" situation into a "terrible" one by wounding a 500+ lb grizzly. Ever seen one get mad?...I have. Not pretty if you're within charging range. These guys were probably crappin' their pants, I would too, but it wasn't all that bad when you look at the whole picture through a computer screen hahaha
The voice behind the camera is Paul Korn...He has videos on here/youtube...Paul Korn bowhunting..No off season
Big brown chasing some blonde , not hunting hunters .
...she just kept screaming, wrong hole wrong hole! and ran off.
They aren’t only super fast, but if I run as long and, as fast, I would have to stop several times, because of becoming winded. But they didn’t even stop to take a short breath after all that running! The mighty grizzly!!
These two did everything wrong by sitting quietly , especially being down wind.
I in trouble bois ..there's hot sauce all over me they like hot sauce.
This is what I like. The Hunter becoming the hunted! Just a little taste of what animals encounter on a daily basis 👍
Too bad the bear wasn’t interested 😔
I wonder if they see the irony in how they felt being hunted. They seem like nice guys so no hate. I eat meat so no hate on taking meat either. But I see too many hunters who think they are big for killing an animal when all hunting was ever meant to be about was obtaining sustenance. Most hunters I've met in recent years are cowards with dick issues who enjoy inflicting suffering over it. Yet some still truly hunt for sustenance and are called poachers for it while license buying goons are called the ancient and honorable term hunter. Very Orwellian.
So true Daniel...SO TRUE!
@@robbywhite4291thank you for your kind words sir, I agree that tradition was the meal round the table on a good hunt and every piece of that animal had it's uses , no waist.
