I'm struggling big time with my game. I was 11 handicap for years. I'm now 60 and handicap 22. I have watched and read comments on your videos. The positive comments fill me with excitement. So I am going to embark on rebuilding my swing and brain with your instruction videos. It's approaching winter here in Scotland, but so hopefully the rebuild will be complete in time for 2025 season.
Marcus, I'm like you Lefty - only into golf and hockey-, it's difficult to find a professional who understands me. It helps me to watch and hear you - give me confidence.
Marcus, I regret that I only recently found you. The way you explain everything is so clear and simple to understand, but most of all it works! Maybe not perfect yet, but literally after a few months I can see a lot of progress, and when I swing correctly, it's so nice to watch the ball fly and its trajectory, and I have good opportunities for birdies more often! It's hard for me to answer the question why so many coaches complicate everything so much! Perhaps, it's because the more complicated you make it, the more money you'll earn, or maybe that's just the way they are, complicated! For me you are number 1, it is a great pleasure to watch your videos, you are different, you are better!
Found your channel a week ago and just wanted to thank you. I dont have a lot of time to play/practice golf but your videos helped me so much! I played our annual golf challenge this weekend, which is 4 times 18 Holes (2 rounds on saturday and 2 on Sunday). I started with handicap 17,7 and ended with 9,9! played rounds of 83, 84, 83 and 78. Won the competition of the longest drive and never drove the ball so good from the tee. All rounds could have been in the 70´s with ease, but my putting and short game still needs improvement. But driver and Irons are phenomenal with your system. Keep up the great work! Thanks so much!!!
Loved this video as it explains a lot about my golf swing, I am a dominate Right hand person who plays Golf Left handed, in my younger days I was an OK golfer playing off around 12 but not really knowing the fundamentals of golf just relying on my strength to get the job done. I gave up golf at around about age 30 and now at 74 I am trying to play again and your videos and practise drills will help me I think to play golf the right way and understand what I have to do to stop my Right Hand being so dominant, I currently do 18 holes at a not so hard course and go around in about 102 to 110 but hoping to improve very soon, Thanks.
Thanks Marcus. I love the way you explain it with no BS. I’ve been pulling that club and trying to turn the body fast and I do ok but with back pain. I’ve just found your channel and after a short practice in the garden I played some golf and hit some beautiful shots with no big effort and no back pain. Chipping was really nice as well. I really think your way is the best thing for me as well. Cheers. Have a beer or a coffee or whatever.
Marcus, just recently come across your videos on RUclips and want to thank you for transforming my game. I am based in Coventry in the Uk and play a regular 4 ball with friends twice w week. I had been down so many rabbit holes following all the different advice exactly as you describe to avoid in your videos. Your approach has made a massive difference and at 65 I am now striking the ball with effortless power and much less dispersion using your method with all my clubs. I now have a great base model to work from to continue to improve my golf game and find I am now feeling less aches and pains using your method. Thank you for making a high handicapper very happy 😊😊
Thank you! Keeping the swing on the left side of the body finally clicked with me. Once I started getting that, teeing the ball higher also made sense. Today I hit absolute bombs on the course. One was a gps measured 302yd drive down the middle of the fairway. I don't want to get too excited, but I think I'm finally understanding what you are teaching with driver and I have something to build upon.
Hi Marcus; By far you have the best approach in teaching the golf swing of anybody on line! Much like yourself, I started taking up golf in my early thirties. For about four years into the sport I often wondered why as a ball hockey player as a kid it was so easy to shoot a tennis ball at a target without any anxiety in shooting. What kept me playing golf for the next thirty years, was not so much I had fun scoring (my putting kept me in the game as I rank myself as an A- putter), but the arena of play: golf courses are wonderful places spend time on in the summer. What caught my attention was your video Left hand faster the right hand. As a leftie I wondered what were you taking about, right faster than the left??????. What caught my immediate attention was that you were a professional hockey player, and you golf left handed. Your idea that the body supports what the left hand wants to do; That simple idea unlocked the key to take the anxiety out of my golf swing and improve it instantly and immeasurably. I actually now enjoy hitting golf balls! I know now how to score in golf. The main reason, much like throwing a ball, playing tennis, squash, casting a fishing rod, it's all about extending the left arm to get your hand going in the direction of your target. In ball hockey one is trying to hit a bouncing ball which usually is not in the ideal position in regards to your feet or your target - one simply pulls the stick back then pushes the stick through the shot and automatically without thinking extending the left arm towards the target. The only key making sure you "stay on your feet" during your shot. (Now when I am driving the ball it is my only swing thought during my practice swing) So all the calculations of where the ball is going to be on contact, how your feet are set up in relation to the ball, what your target is, near side, far side or straight ahead, how hard you want to hit the ball is done WITHOUT thinking about it during the shot. It all done subconsciously. The only conscious thing is where do I want the ball to go. I am grateful that you have put fun into my ball striking part of my golf game! You have helped me out the awful habit of having to think about the swing during the swing. That only creates anxiety, with anxiety creates poor ball striking. All of this anxiety despite the fact that the ball is not moving and there is nobody trying to stop you from hitting the ball. After watching your first video, I now enjoy driving the ball. It is so much fun now! Next year, it's adding more distance. Low point control for irons will need work. And playing from different lies. Ball hockey, as well as range work is on flat ground. A few ideas about playing from uphill, side hill, buried lies would be instructive in regards to iron play. stort tack och lycka till på det nya året
Hello my friend I am a new golfer 56-year-old. I started playing golf because my son in high school is playing and I wanted to learn where I can spend more time with him. I’m left-handed but it seems like it’s hurting. I can’t get my club straight. I’m swinging south to Northeast if you understand, so I’m learning how to swing right handed because I had more flexibility going to my left and I do my right. I really enjoy your videos. They make more sense to me than watching the other guys that I can’t understand what they’re saying or the Golf lingo that I haven’t learned yet, thank you for the videos.
Marcus. Once again a big thanks for putting a very comprehensive set of video's together that are clear, consise, and impactful. The lead and trail hands explaination was a paradigm shift for me because of the years of instruction and practicing lead arm straight, turn the body to gain momentum, and clear the hips. Just one practice session in the manner suggested has corrected a push to the right (RH golfer) for driver shots. With more practice I expect my consistency to go up. I'll keep you posted on progress.
Amazing video marcus. I been watching and re watching your videos for awhile now. All excellent. But this one was awesome detail. Haven’t played much over this summer or practiced much either. But watching your videos and when I seldom play the majority of my golf shots have been straight to say a 2-3 yard draw. Even the pros miss golf shots . And they hit thousands of golf balls a day or week. My scores are not reflective mostly due to short game stuff lol. Definitely work in progress. But I’m grateful for your channel. Just wish you came along RUclips several years ago 😄. By the way, I’m subscribed to padraig Harrington channel also. He talks very much about the average golfer not using their hands nearly enough. Keep up your great instruction here. 🙏🏼
Thanks for watching, sharing and trying. I know that many good players talk about how much their hands control the shot. Somehow all instructors came together about 25 years ago and decided that amateur golfers don't need to learn to use their hands, crazy. Let's keep going. You progress is my motivation.
Really good stuff. I saw an image of where the hands are relative to the body at impact and half way into the follow through. The hands basically stay in the same position but slightly higher and obviously rotated. Your push the hands towards each other is about the only way to keep the hands where they were at impact.
I really struggled to understand the release and I tried as best I could to put it into practice and by using a lot of hand movement I started to have success. Today I hit great drives and fairway woods. Was so much fun and really exciting! Only thing I didn’t do well with was the short irons and I think it’s because I was not able to transition to a later release. Looking forward to practicing timing the release with the different clubs. Thanks!!!
I just watched a video, Forgotten Great Theorists: Henry Cotton, in which there are a number of great quotes from Cotton that are the same stuff you're always talking about (at least, as far as the hands are concerned). He even points out how much blurrier his trail hand appears in a photo than his lead hand because it's going much faster. He also discusses the hingeing of the lead wrist through impact.
Glad I found your channel - thanks to the pink shaft which was the eyecatcher 😂 lost the love for golf and went back to tennis my first love. After watching many of your videos you motivated me to give golf a second chance. Best regards from Germany
I like your concept of fast trail arm, because in tennis I'm playing lefthanded and barely not using the kinetic chain. I have a very good coach in tennis. He said: Forget the kinetic chain, you have a very fast left hand, trust her!! So your concept could suit me quite well as a lefthanded golfer.@@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
Sounds good. The open stance will make it easier to turn to the target with less stress one your body. Speed will come back if you regularly put full effort in your golf shots, just like going to the gym. 👍
Hi Marcus, love your instructions. I'm hitting the ball so well now I'm finding that i need to hit half shots into greens and I'm not very good at them. Hopefully you'll consider providing some guidance in an upcoming video. Much appreciated!
Started golf as 60YO, probably one of the most untalented players ever, bad coordination, pretty stiff but real strong. I never be good at golf but I surely got very less lousy thanks to Mr Edblad😊👍🏻
Loving the vids and it’s working very well 👌 just a question as to why you hover above the ball 🤷🏻♂️I’ve played around with this and I can say it works lol but I don’t know the reasoning also ur first move seems to be up with club from an already hovered position 🧐and that works too 😊

If you close your stance it get's easier in the beginning but you loose the power from your trail side and that's not good. Learn to do it with a neutral or open stance and you will win in the long run.
By the way...I stumbled across your video a few weeks ago, and as a former hockey player myself they make perfect sense. I started using your methods and my iron & hybrid play are transformed! I'm still a work in progress with driver, I'm also age 71.
I have a delayed/slow rotation that gives me time to hit good drives from the middle of my stance. I don't need to move the ball forward to hit up on it. Let the driver take some time but exaggerate the early release to get it going. Keep fighting. 👍

Absolutely. Correctly executed, the scoop is magic. 👍

Ive just found you and straight away it make sence. Im excited to go and try this later today.
Go and try it. It works. 👍
Thanks again went to neutral stance and put the ball few inch forward from the club position works well with the swing from inside that you teach
Glad it helped👍
Thank you Marcus your training is most appreciated. I am recommending to fellow Golfers.
Much appreciated Thank you. 🙏

Thanks for these drills Marcus!

Hey Marcus, would you consider doing a video showing snapshots of your swing in all the different positons?
Hi Steve. I don't think in positions but maybe that could happen. I can't promise.
Hi Marcus, love your instructions. I'm hitting the ball so well now I'm finding that i need to hit half shots into greens and I'm not very good at them. Hopefully you'll consider providing some guidance in an upcoming video. Much appreciated!

Another great lesson ! Thank you. Where do you place the ball when using the driver? Its probably just the camera angle, but it looks like its towards your trail foot ?
A little camera angle misunderstanding but probably close to the middle for a normal drive.
Which shoulder do you think about turns the left or right for right hand golfer
None of them. Your shoulders will follow what your hands want. Watch this for better info:

Marcus how far inside do you bring the club in on the back swing ?
I have never measured my back swing. I only think about the circle and it isn't exactly the same with all clubs. Watch this:
ruclips.net/video/PvZsJp6jCOw/видео.htmlsi=sSjyTGYERs38_Vjh
I have tried this but I turned my left hip turned to closed stance also works feels like your back at target
If you close your stance it get's easier in the beginning but you loose the power from your trail side and that's not good.
Learn to do it with a neutral or open stance and you will win in the long run.
I watched hundreds of videos before and learned most from Marcus
I'm glad I can help. 👍
I did this in the garden, when my wife discovered the destroyed tomatoes I had to sleep on the couch for a week.
Then you will never forget what you learned. 🤣
Marcus You are better than Malaska😊
I try to be my best. Thanks. 🙏
Where is the ball in your driver stance? This video makes it look quite far back, towards your back foot.
By the way...I stumbled across your video a few weeks ago, and as a former hockey player myself they make perfect sense. I started using your methods and my iron & hybrid play are transformed! I'm still a work in progress with driver, I'm also age 71.
