    Not only does this just explain away, the one thing, that no one else has bothered to even touch on, or it's quite possible that they are, potentially, just simply ignorant to the knowledge of it... Regarding the physics involved, due to a misinformed understanding or teaching, simply put, maybe their comprehensive capabilities are severely lacking, OR it may even be that they're just down right unwilling to offer up this kind of data, even actually addressing this specific matter out loud as far a that goes, & so Thanx btw for that... but my guy here is also quite entertaining in his approach & delivery, the cadence seems very convincing, wherein the confidence that is present, regarding the implied accuracy of the physics in question, is a good balance between assurance, and genuine interest in that the information is nefariously being, knowingly or unknowingly suppressed willingly, right out in the open, thus deserves to be liberated, as it were, since yay~hoos (and not any actual professional manufacturing mechanics or factory techs *to my knowledge) are creating copious amounts of material content which is absolutely contrary to this here idea...

    Best part of the video is explaining that the clamping force against the hub face is taking the force and NOT the spigot.

    this is great video and info. I was going to add a quarter inch spacer to avoid control arm rubbing. they just slide on the hub. but I was concerned because it would cause my rims to not be hubcentric anymore. It sounds like if I install them properly I should be fine though.

      My spacers don't have the hub centric too, so I tried to center the spacer first by installing the spacer with nuts tightened a little bit by hand first, just to keep the spacer in place, then released the brake, rotated the brake disk slowly and using straight stick or a ruler to inspect the spacer rotate properly (clamp the ruler to the brake piston cover and keep it very close to the surface of the spacer) - when the spacer rotate and always keep the same distance to the tip of the ruler then the spacer is being placed at the right place - ofcourse centered. Then I tightened the nuts more, after tighten the nuts meet the torse as mentioned in the manual, I once again checked the center of the spacer by rotating it and inspect again. ^^ . I did the same method after installing the wheel, just tightened the nuts a little bit, checked, tightened more, checked - tightened the nuts again and done!. That how I installed the spacers. Next time I would try to by the spacers with the hub centric.

    Question for you. I just put new wheels on my truck that are lug centric. I have never had lug centric before, my question is, am i giving anything up safety wise? Do i need to get an adapter of sorts to make it hub centric?

    Thanks Bane!
    Just bought new rims and it was pointed out to me that the much larger center bore would be an issue with the studs bearing all the weight, especially when hauling heavy loads or towing.

    • @HOTDAMN
      @HOTDAMN  4 года назад +8

      Why do the studs take all the weight? In both cases you friction weld the wheel to the hub. The center never takes the weight unless your nuts are loose and by then it’s to late. Your studs shouldn’t move when driving, ever 🤣. It’s ok 20 foot pounds because hub centric, hub “centric” not hub “supported”

    So if u don't use hub centric rings to compensate for the space,is there danger of the lugs snapping off? Asking bcz I've always been afraid not to have a space bcz of that fear. Not tryn to argue js lookn for some insight. TIA.

    • @minhngoquang3405
      @minhngoquang3405 Год назад

      I think we should find and buy the spacers with the hub centric, it will simplify the process of installing the spacers and wheel even the spacers come with the lugs centric... I once bought the spacers without the hub centric and then I needed to center the spacers and the wheels by checking it so many times. It took 30~45 minutes to finish one wheel. Time fly~~~

    A have a random question on this subject.. Couldn't mag lugs centre the wheels correctly and thus rendering hub centric rings useless? I mean in my case I just put fj rims on my montero. They're designed for mags and they center the wheels seemingly perfectly. Any thoughts?

    • @HOTDAMN

      I would just use a “conical seated lug nut”. Install 2 nuts adjacent from each other and slowly tighten. Should self align.

    I got a question 👋..
    Can u use a hub centric tire like from a 2018 toyota 4 runner and put it on a lug centric style truck, like a 2007 chevy Silverado? The lug pattern is the same, but the hub portion on the Silverado is smaller than the bore on the 4runner wheel. Would it be safe to rely on the 6 lugs to hold the tire on properly... Wen that tire was designed to be centered by the hub and not the lug?

    • @newkidflip430

      The vehicle is not hub or lug centric its the rims/wheels that would be hub or lug centric

    • @BPakesi

      @@newkidflip430 I understand that.. but a certain vehicle will have certain type of wheel and hub. Like a silverado a wheels and hubs will be lugs centric and a Toyota 4runners wheels and hubs will be hub centric.. get it?

    • @HOTDAMN

      To avoid serious problems I recommend quality hub centric wheel spacers. But yes, it does apply and there is more risk of being off center causing the studs to snap while cruising.

    Lug centric stresses the bearings and could bend the studs. Plus easy to get ride vibration complaint.

    • @HOTDAMN
      @HOTDAMN  2 года назад +3

      Lug centric and hub centric makes no difference on the bearings. I do agree with the vibration part because most people won’t take the time to properly install lug centric wheels. Hub centric was designed for the average person. In the military we called it dummy proof.

  • @rustycreekfabrication
    @rustycreekfabrication 2 года назад

    The protruding part is called a brake register and car manufacturers use hub centric because it's the most accurate way to locate the wheel on the car centered with little to no vibration. Lug centric is old tech and is not as accurate or safe as hub centric. I can't believe the ignorance I've seen surrounding this simple aspect of wheels in 20 years online and offline.
