FAQ:
What top coat/base coat do you use?
- I don't have a favorite topcoat, usually I use the INM Out The Door (can be found at Sally's Beauty Supply) for swatches and the HK Girl from Glisten & Glow for manicures. My all time favorite base coat the CND Stickey. You can find that on Amazon.com or at Ulta stores.
Why do you take your picture and video swatches separately?
- Since my lighting, camera settings, and tripod all have to be adjusted when switching from pictures to video, its faster, and helps keep the lighting more consistent, if I batch process all the pictures at once and then all the videos at another time. It also helps me get a feel for how to work with the polish if I do my pictures before the video.
How long do you let your nail polish dry between coats?
- I wait until a coat is completely dry to the touch before adding another one. The time it takes for that to happen varies from polish to polish, but usually is around 5-10 minutes.
How long do swatch videos take you to make?
- To take pictures, film, edit, and upload, it takes between 5-8 hours depending on the size of the collection.
Why don't you paint EVERY SINGLE inch of your nail and ALL THE WAY UP TO THE CUTICLE EVERY SINGLE TIME?! DEAR GOD WHY?!
- I purposely avoid the sides of my nails and my cuticle line when I'm swatching because I do swatches one after the other after the other. Removing polishes that are applied too close to the skin can stain the skin around my nails and make the next swatch look bad. I do it to keep the video clips and pictures clean.

Why don't you use a peel-off base coat when you swatch? You should use the UNT one because Simplynailogical uses it and everyone should use everything she uses with no exceptions.
- I speed swatch. The polish is still wet or tacky by the time I remove it to apply the next one. Using a peel-off base coat would not only add an extra step to my routine, but would require me to wait for the polish to dry before it could be peeled off. This would end up taking more time and be less efficient for me.
Trust me, if Cristine suggests it, I try it...but everyone has different taste in products and everyone does things differently. Two people can have vastly different opinions on a product. It doesn't mean that one of them is wrong, it means that they're different people.

Oh my gosh!! Every review I've seen of these polishes has been raving and glowing! But no one has talked about the damn bubbles. I get so many bubbles when I apply this polish, so I was so happy to hear that it wasn't just me :) thanks for the amazing video, Jess!!!

I order after yours and ordered in smaller amounts but they were still all thrown in there together just like yours. I was lucky I think because there were fewer they didn't break but they have got to change the packaging on those! Thanks for the video! I love these and found the wear time to be amazing!!!

2 broken orders is crazy, you put a lot of work into cleaning the bottles up & having to file the shards of glass down, they made a deal w/you since it had to be shipped twice & both times they were a broken mess, girl call & get your monies that's due to you, they need to learn from their mistakes & you are amazing for doing this w/the whole collection, thank you for being so awesome & taking your money & time to do this for us ❤
You're the only one who i actually subscribed too after that video. Lots of people talk a lot and its either has nothing to do about the product ,not enough info or not even showing at the end of all that blah blah any swatches lol Whatever you're saying is strictly about the product and every word is exactly what i needed to know to make up my mind if i want to spend my hard working money or not ! may i suggest formula x sephora base coat. legit my manicure lasted 14 days(I've tested like 5 times by accident) lol. i used regular polish. hk girl top coat. also you swatched 42 shades of nail polish. WTF. i feel lazy. i get annoyed after about 7. lololol. great review.
Thank you, this just saved me a ton of money. I don't see anything here that I don't have in another form. Hearing your nails chip in a day makes me feel better too. No matter what I do I can never get polish longer then 3 days.

Thank you for the swatches! Wow, I don't think I've ever called amazon, I've only ever emailed them. Then again, I've never had something so horrendous happen either. You should try shooting them an email about not getting the rest of the $100 back. That way you won't be wasting so much time on the phone. Though I completely understand not wanting to waste any more of your time period.
I'm excited to try these..my polish usually last for about 3 days😩 as a nurse I wash my hands so frequently, I'm interested to see how this polish holds up🤔

Thank you so much for this honest review! I recently purchased a few of these myself, because Essie is by far one of my favorite nail polish brands and I own probably 100 or more, give or take. I was EXTREMELY disappointed in these and haven't been able to find anyone else who has had the same issues as me, or felt they performed sub-par. Like you, every single shade I've purchased gave me bubbles, but not just one or two, they gave me TONS, on every single nail. I tried so many different things and applied them differently and every single time, I ended up with bubbles. Frankly, I'm kind of pissed off that I spent so much money on something that wasn't worth it. On the other hand, I'm glad that I finally found someone who had the same problem as me (especially a seasoned nail gal), so I know it just wasn't me or a bad batch I had bought.
PLEASE do a video with your top bubblegum pinks. I have been looking for a true bubblegum pink for ages but every time I order one online it ends up being almost there but not exactly what I want. I am about to give up! Also, most of the ones I find are so old they are very rare to find or overpriced. I prefer mainstream brands but I would go Indie for this one ;-) Your channel is my go-to for nail polish!! Definitively the most reliable and straight forward on youtube!

Fun Fact: This brush is the regular wide of the normal europe Essie polishes. We've got much wider brushes on Essies here than in the US. And I love it!

You must've spent a fortune. It had to cost $500 to buy all of that.
I thought I was alone in that! Pre-clean my nails, use a base, wrap the tips, top coat & STILL can't get my polish to last longer than a day without chipping lol. I buy vegan but am happy this worked for you :)

Great review video. Obviously you have put an incredible amount of time in, doing it. I have only come across the line, this week. I am waiting for the five colours I have ordered to arrive (not from Amazon thankfully), as well as the top coat. From my research, it sounds like the top coat is a must have, when it comes to top coats. Thank you for your opinion, time and effort. Really appreciated.

So encouraging, since I'm exactly the same as you - less than 24 hours of wear from regular polish, no extra wear from Sally hansen miracle gel, and mine chip at the corners where they bend too! I'll give this a try!

I'm never buying polish from Amazon, unless it's less than 3 bottles. Ohhhh it makes me so angry to think of someone just packing them like that - knowing full well that they would break!
If they can't pack them properly then they should just have an order limit on the number of bottles you can order at once grrrr!
(can you tell I've had a lot of similar experiences with Amazon packaging?! Thankfully nothing as messy as polish but a burst bottle of dishwasher cleaner soaked through a box & onto our wood floor recently.. Thankfully it somehow didn't damage the floor)
ANYWAY! - TYSM For doing so many swatches - this was a super helpful video & I really love the Essie Gel Couture line!
I exclusively use the top coat from that line no matter what polish I use underneath. It's my fave :)

I’ve just started collecting Gel Culture , so far I only have bubbles only , the top coat & today got a little mini top coat in my Essie Advent Calendar & tomorrow 24th I’ll get rock the runway. Your reviews are brilliant , I just started collecting Essie polish’s a couple of month ago & had planned on collecting more Essie in 2018 , still same plan but for the times when I want my mani’s to last I’m going to get some pinks , blues & a silver & Twill Seeker is top of my wish list!!! Kind of weird but I think we must have the same nail chemistry! My nails peel (I know you said yours have in the past), mine are soft and polish never lasts more than a day on me either! Glad to hear these worked wonders for you, will definitely have to check them out!

I ordered mine from Amazon ad well and was shocked to see how they were delivered. I only got 2 bottles at once and thankfully nothing broke. My top coat bottle did get a bit scuffed up though. I enjoy the polish but like you had bubbles on several nails....no matter what I did. The TC does erase them though...like magic.

My favourite of all these 'gel but not gel' polishes is actually Wet n Wild 1 Step Wonder Gel. It's an all in one, so no need for top coat, but you still need two coats of the colour. Anyway, I would recommend that brand. I got 7 day wear (that's about the maximum you could get with these types of polish). And, what a shocking story about your Amazon experience! I hope you sort out your problems!

That's crazy. I've been an amazon prime member for so many years. And I think they're usually overzealous with packaging so I'm surprised. Sorry about your experience. That sucks. I do think it's rare though.
From your photo "Find Me A Man-nequin" looks like SH's "Pacific Blue." Did you notice a similarity? Sorry about Amazon, they have been hit or miss with shipping recently. The only polish I think I would consider is "Spool Me Over." Great review as always.

I bought a pink nude color without knowing the brand or formula, I just wanted a nude color for my nails, after using it a couple of times I fell in love with it!! I keep using it Everytime I need a touch up or I peel it off under warm water.
