I think you've got it pretty much spot on there, Andy
I'd play Foden as the 10, Gordon on the left. Jude and Rice in CM with Jude going forward when TAA drifts into midfield.
I agree with this! We might see that in one game but I find it hard to see Southgate really doing that
Zero chance Trent starts over Walker
I agree with this as long as TAA play LB and Walker plays RB to form a back 3 when Trent goes into midfield

I think another reason for Grealish over Bowen is that our depth on the right is very strong (with that arguably being the best position for Saka, Palmer and Foden), Gordon and Grealish being the only out-and-out left wingers
Grealish to busy faffing about with his hair on the pitch to actually play football.
Not taking Mitchell is bonkers with the coverage and fitness in that defence.
And I’m pretty sure Guehi is left footed.

I'd like to see him play a narrower 3 behind Kane. Palmer, Bellingham & Foden. Play 3 at the back in the centre with shaw and walker as wider wing backs. Stones can step up alongside rice in possession. I think all 3 of those behind kane would happily go beyond him if he wants to drop as he does for Bayern. I'd at least like to see him try it out! They can drift wider and rotate causing all kinds of issues. Would be a good option imo against certain opposition

There's no way in hell Mainoo is in England's starting XI. There's no doubt he's good but TAA and Gallagher are ahead of him

Trent won’t start for England, Gallagher should be starting with Rice
TAA isn't close to Mainoo in the middle of the park. Gallagher probably also not the right profile next to Rice and behind Bellingham. If you haven't seen Mainoo, think combination of Seedorf & Modric.
Guys let's see who will be right when England play their first game because I'm 90% sure Mainoo will not be starting
He fits playing alongside Rice more than the others
So hoping Shaw can get fit. Think he could be a huge plus to the XI.

I think with all our injury-prone defenders (Stones, Maguire, Shaw) we need an extra defender for safety so I'd take out Toney who would essentially just be 3rd choice ST anyway and I would take Konsa. Potentially I'd also take Bowen over Grealish - if we desperately need a goal in a game then I'd much rather Bowen come on then Grealish, but I get that if you're trying to see out a match then Grealish is the man.

I can see southgate only taking 2 strikers which would give room for konsa, i think the rest is pretty bang on. I wouldnt mind stones or trent popping into midfield and playing foden as the 10

Saka kane gordan. Don’t think much. Stones with position can drift in midfield his position would be covered by walker. This allow Bellingham to have a direct box to box role. Foden is the best player in the tiny pocket of space. And when kane drop gordan and saka can make a run

Jones is a better player and more experienced at international level than Manioo, Wharton and Gallagher. He was phenomenal when England won the under 21s

The problem of left back wasn't addressed. In all probability Shaw won't be ready, Trippier isn't a left back and hasn't impressed this season. The only two who should be taken, are Mitchell and Gomez but Southgate didn't develop any other choices.
Dunk shouldn’t be there, he made similar mistakes to Chilwell and we’ve got even more depth at CB.
You’ve got to start palmer on the form of his life! Drop Bellingham back and start foden at cam

As sensible (boring) and pragmatic as Southgate is, it is exactly the tactics we need with how bad our backline is.
Why not take 2 gk since walker could be a third backup for that position 😅
Really we should play 3 at the back. Braithwaite as LCB, Walker as RCB and Stones/Maguire as CB. Have Saka and Trent as Left and Right wing backs

Pep ruined Grealish. Such a ceiling before he became a foul magnet.
No need for Toney when Gordon, Palmer and Bellingham can all play as a 9 if needs be. Would take Bowen for his versatility and he's a good penalty taker! Harsh on Maddison but the injury came a the wrong time in such a competitive position for England too. Grealish is lucky to go on current form!
Be a bit stupid not to bring grealish as who else would you take in front of him on the left wing?

@@Suppanh not to mention Shaw is there been injured for nearly all season how is the justified. Yet there's a Ipswich left back who racked up 20 assists last season not even being given the friendlys.
Are you not convinced that we may see a back five and rice and Jude in the midfield?
This way Trent can play and as a right wing back or invert to midfield and Walker as a right center back alongside stones and Harry in the center
Or just trippier as right wing back. Like I would like to see Walker as a right center back in a back five and not much of as a right back. Like this way I feel like england could make more use of this squad

Hey Andy, i believe you (in England) should stop picking single players and focus on the team more. I can not see Harry K and Saka working together. At this moment why not front 4 with Harry Foden Palmer and Gorden, with Declan and Jude behind the. Much more fluud etc. Ofc there are many options but dont use that tunnel vision you had with previous generations. Cheera

Because Kane and Watkins are well ahead. He could have been called up for Toney instead, but it doesnt matter since both of them ( Toney and Solanke) wouldnt play a minute either way..
Rashford is a willing runner? He might be when getting in behind on attack but he's godawful off the ball. Gordon much better at both ends.

If England are drawing a game, with 20mins left, and Rashford comes off the bench, only Utd fans are thinking here comes a goal. The opposition manager, players, fans, and most England fans, are thinking here comes lots of fumbling the ball and hitting John in row z 😂😂😂.
Leave Rashford at home. He can get a part time dinner lady, or soup kitchen job, and feed the hungry kids/homeless. Leave the International football to players that are capable.

I assume that means you’re taking Trippier 1st choice LB, Gomez & space for Konsa as well as Branthwaite?

100%. I think Mitchell needs to be added to the squad. I really struggle to see Southgate starting Foden in midfield, so we need that natural left back who can overlap and allow Foden to invert from left-wing

Rice Mainoo Bellingham has to be the middle 3. It will most likely be the biggest talking point.
I don't think people quite understand that Bellingham HAS to play in the 10. In so many XIs people stick him next to Rice to accommodate Foden, Saka & Palmer. It's understandable, because Jude will be the best player on the pitch no matter where he plays... but we HAVE to optimise him, and play him where he is his unstoppable best, regardless of who that means misses out. That's in the 10.
Trent or Gallagher I would say instead of mainoo.. don't think mainoo starts

Summary - United fan surprised Rashford isn't going and thinks Shaw is underrated, has Maguire starting with probably mainoo. Na but reasonable shouts, I would start with 1 holding 2 CAM with palmer instead of Mainoo (not an exact replacement, floating with foden) but in the future he will be really good and the squad experience would help mainoo alot

Shaw will not start the first few games, Trippier almost certainly will
Gallagher is starting in midfield IMO, Mainoo on the bench
We will take an extra defender not a midfielder, if we suffer injuries then Bellingham drops deeper and we have many players who can fill in his position, so Jones definitely will not make the squad
If Jude gets injured, then Palmer will start in that position, or Foden comes in and Gordon starts
Palmer has been playing 10 though and so bowen would be back up to saka. It depends how Southgate views where players play

Solanke over Toney for me. One scored 20 PL goals and the other missed half the season and then didn't score in the last 12 games or so at the end of the season.

England should play to its strengths, which are in attack. I'd play a 3-1-4-2 formation and go for it. Pickford, Stones, Maguire, Branthwaite, Rice, Saka, Palmer, Foden, Grealish, Bellingham, Kane. We shouldn't fear anyone. They should fear us!

Wouldn’t be surprised yeah. In fact that probably makes more sense if Trent is going as a midfielder.
@@LetsTalk_Football1 I actually think it was a very good decision of Southtown to include Grealish and he’s the first player I would pick for the 26 man squad. For me we need one of Rashford, Sterling and Grealish for experience and I think Grealish is easily the best out of those

Good squad. I agree with 5 of your 7, but I would drop Wharton & Eze and take Bowen and Konsa.
So one less deeper lying centre mid than you. I do like the option of playing 2 hybrid 8s/10s in Foden and Bellingham with Rice behind as a one-man pivot, against weaker teams. In that scenario, Gordon is first choice left with Grealish as backup. Bowen backs up Saka and Palmer is cover for Foden and Bellingham.
