One of the best Historical films I've seen made for a very long time the attention to historical detail is remarkable and truly impressive let alone the costumes, set design and great acting. a must see for any history buff indeed! bloody Cyrus should have stuck to Egypt or even freakin' Greece, legit insane going after the Steppe tribes in their own territory!

They did not secure their borders. For long time they attacked to persian borders but they could not enter to persia. Brian, these tribes were nomadic people and live in steppa ( desert of middle asia) they did not have any city. Therefore they didnt have any border. When darius chased them, they moved and ran away then they came back and so daruush finished chasing them. Could you fight a gypsy people while they relocate and relocate? I dont accept or dont reject the tomiris. All great commanders die. Some in parlimant by their friend like ceasar or in war like cyrus the great. Look what they have left behind. Cyrus the great left the first human law. What did the tomiris?

@@GssUpp Do you think being Turkic/Turk is all about looks or having slant eyes? Turkic people's themselves throughout the history never discriminated or looked down on others unlike Europeans or other ethnic groups. Look up Oghuz Turks and their history. The culture still lives and very much alive even in the remotest village in Anatolia. And again Turks were always diverse looking people because they raided and conquered many lands. As a matter of fact, you should be proud of your kin's achievements in the west and how we Oghuz Turks were able to keep our culture alive despite years and years of war and propaganda coming from the so called fake historians from The West or the Soviets. And according to Chinese scripts originally, Turks looked nothing like them. But at the end of the day, who cares seriously 😂 it's all about how you feel. And Ataturk has made that very clear when when he said, "How happy is the one who says , I'm a Turk" and definitely not "How happy is the one who have slant eyes" 😂😂 so get rid of this inferiority complex and looks-based argument, we are not Europeans still carrying this looks based agenda. We are nomads and have never discriminated against people like that for thousands of years. And don't you worry my brothers and sisters, that spirit is still alive and will live forever.

This movie is actually based on one of Herodotus' versions. The details of Cyrus's death vary by account. The account of Herodotus from his histories provides the second-longest detail, in which Cyrus met his fate. Cyrus the Great was killed in the battle but not the way it was described in the movie. More importantly, people in his time did not look like Asians.

What I don't understand is why do the actors look so Asian/Mongolian in that movie? Was that movie funded by a pro-turkic government to promote the falsification of history? Modern genetic and anthropological studies on remains from kurgans in Kazakhstan show a gradual transition of the originally Iranic Sakas (Eastern Scythians) towards mixed and then Asian composition in terms of their appearance and genetics. This transition took place between 1000 AD and 300 AD. By the end of this process the Sakas were assimilated by the incoming Hunnic and Turkic peoples coming from the East. Facial reconstruction shows predominantly Asian appearance in the Altai and Siberian Sakas by 700-500 AD. The genomes of modern-day Kazakhs are about 1/3 Indo-European/Scythian (or even earlier Botai culture), 1/3 Turkic and 1/3 Mongol and this reflects very well the history of the nomads who lived in the Great Steppe in Kazakhstan for thousands of years. Thus, Kazakhs are entitled to make this movie about their ancestors - as these Sakas were our ancestors, not of modern day Iranians. Moreover, Sakas constantly fought with Persians and looked very different from them. Persians themselves portrayed them as very different from themselves on the relief frescos on the walls of Persepolis. Persians are pictures with curvy hair and beards and narrow faces whereas as Sakas are always pictured with straight/wavy hair, almond-shaped eyes and raised cheek bones. Kazakhs preserved the original way of life and even clothing of the Scythians for hundreds of years. So, the brave nomad queen Tomiris is OUR heroine and not the one for the Persians! Only difference between Tomirsi and Cleopatra was that celopatra slept with men to get what see want and she killed the emperor alone when he offered her to sleep with him 😂 and this is what women should be like not like those queen celopatra who compromised her character with every possible men 😂 to get political favours😂

I am a persian and this movie is based on lies and is a great insult to cyrus if anyone knows 2500 years of history of iran, Cyrus the Great wrote the first inscription on human rights, He forbade slavery, He treated the Jews and the Babylonians well, Cyrus is definitely known to be a compassionate ruler and was no ruthless man, Babylon and the entire realm of Akkad was the witness, He respected enemies and women after every victory the enemies went to fight for him of their ownwill and his army consisted of ten thousands men and owned half the world. After his victory over Nabonidus, Cyrus wants to subdue the Great Massages. This is an Asian nomad tribe that lives near the Caspian Sea. During this campaign, Cyrus was killed, according to Herodotus. His son Cambyses II succeeds him in August 530. The Persian Empire at that time runs from present-day Turkey, Israel and Armenia in the west to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in the north. The Indus River is the eastern border, the largest empire the world has seen so far.

No ruler is perfect, nor David, nor Solomon. I think because small tribes made this claim that they will fight made him wanting to destroy them. More than that I don't think Tomiris also was perfect. No one is perfect. Kir was helping Jews to restore their Second Temple, and he was acomplishing God's will. This fact alone makes him better than most rulers.

It is funny to watch the angry reaction of the Iranians to this movie. I guess they are not up to date with modern genetic and anthropological studies on remains from kurgans in Kazakhstan, which show a gradual transition of the originally Iranic Sakas (Eastern Scythians) towards mixed and then Asian composition in terms of their appearance and genetics. This transition took place between 1000 AD and 300AD. She herself would not want to be counted as a Persian for sure...
