Bro Hunter is One lakh cheaper than this Bike. I am also using Hunter since 1 month. No regrets. These are high reving bikes. Cant match low end torque of the J series engine. Its slow, but enjoyable as well

I don't want a bike costing 3 lakh on road which has... 1. Plastic panels 2. Low ground clearance 158mm 3. Odd meter console with no connectivity 4. Vibration and useless exhaust sound These points are major turn off for me.
This might be my upgrade from my legendary, 12 year old, CBR250R. I'll wait for the initial batches of this bike and will look for the user's long term reviews. Brilliant video though!

Even though royal enfields have their own pros and cons like every other bike out there, the most important thing that keep them so strong in the market is not only their legacy but their pan india presence in terms of showrooms and service centers, and this is a very important aspect when a costumer makes a decision of buying a bike. Even though speed 400 is a product of Bajaj and Triumph, if this bike cant be bought from an already present bajaj showroom or cant be serviced in a bajaj showroom then i dont think there is anything 'BAJAJ' about it because it already looks like a triumph only. Its not just the low price that makes you buy a bike, but the after sales experience too. This can be a hit no doubt, but only if they make it available at places where REs and others are already present.

And that's their marketing strategy and one of the main usp. They are targeting the enthusiast's market who will pay anything for junky retro tech but won't pay a peny for modern tech. So they are kinda right in their way
The battle lines are clear. There are two sets of people 1 who are more in tech enthusiasm than in mech and 2 who are purely in mechanical enthusiast. Harleys did okish on mechanical part but they nailed through in technical part by integrating color TFT display , esim, Bluetooth and app based controls. Triumph focused on mech like ride by wire , exhaust, engine, finish quality. So choice is clear and totally depends on your inclination of personality.
Things are simple when there are distinct and separate CLASS and MASS products. It really gets interesting when CLASS down-steps to become MASS, eg BMW G310r, RR, HDx440, husqavarna , iphone SE series, S20 FE series, . Indeed what a time to be a bike enthusiast in India !!

Few observations... 1. Looks good and Priced nicely to attract from the competition. 2. Bajaj service center support added advantage. 3. Quality might be better than Regular Bajaj bikes, but still a shade lower than Premium Japanese bikes. 4. Is it too little too late .. Cuz the competition is huge now... 5.. Lets wait and see the on road performance on Indian roads and maintenance cost. These will decide weather it will be a game changer or another wasted opportunity..
I like EVERYTHING about Triumph 400 vs Harley except that it is going to be serviced by Triumph. There aren't that many Triumph service centers also there is a premium attached to stepping into Triumph dealerships. I think I will wait for Himalayan 450

I prefer spoked wheel on the himalayan but alloys on the scram. But truthfully the bike Ivwould really like as my next one is Hero xpukse 420. It will be the cheapest to run of all, will give the most mileage and would be the most trouble free of all. Unfortunately there is no whiff as to when it will arrive

I still pity some people who argue the engine to be the same as the new KTM-Bajaj 400cc engine. All triumph classics have the right side chain drive as the same goes with speed 400, and the engine is 390+ cc. However, people still compare this with the same as KTM and bajaj 373cc and left side chain drive engine. They're so informed that they don't believe the manufacturers facts and their's own eyes.
No bro, twin cylinders, we can't expect, I was also planning for mt3 still its not launched, they are saying august, unofficial bookings are open... Still it will come above 4lakh and R3 near to 5Lakh😢 So I already booked this beast triumph🎉
Good review. At that price, level of quality and speed, Triumph 400 is a real Bomb. This bike is well balanced, smooth refined, good looking, fast (160km/h) and eco 3.3L /100km. Big mistake not to put a USB charger (maybe later). Another interesting bike is the Harley Davidson 440 but is is heavy (190 kg, slower and drinks more petrol (3.8L-100km) nice looks, fat & louder but very good price and many help for driving, usb, turn to turn, call to accident...
Every thing is good about bike, but.... but main concern is about service experience as Enfield has biggest network, do these bike will deliver same amount of service, even Honda Big Wing failed to deliver, due to which Higness such a good product but still it is struggling to survive in market.
How is H'ness a good product for 2.5 lakhs? When this bikes provides double the power, more torque, Triumph badge, better fit and finish, USD, liquid cooling, ride by wire etc.
Atleast he's honest- only one to opine that the service charges should be made affordable. Plus the only person to comment regarding 0-100kmph; takes 7 seconds. Same as duke 390 in indian conditions.
While it looks amazing in the overall finish - something is little unsettling @8:15 you'll see when you are revving there's a leak in the underbelly of the silencer 😅....hope it's just this unit's problem!

To my bros in the North East: Yes, we do not have a single Triumph dealer but worry not, they are opening 120 showrooms in the next one year and I'm sure atleast a few will come the NE as well. Guwahati (biggest city), Aizawl (Biking culture) will surely get it.
In the end all are not a competition because re is cruiser but harley and truump are somewhat naked bike . They all should release cruiser with classic looks
Due to the paint job, fit and finish of the Triump 400 series (despite Bajaj's assertion that it is not based on KTM engines), they were never supposed to charge 2.23L, but after looking at the lucrative HD X440 pricing, they had to lower the price to remain competitive. I personally think HD X440 is much better in many aspects, is well put together and looks balanced from all angles. There is no cohesive styling to the Triump 400 series at the rear and the grab handles are clearly an afterthought. There should have been a bigger tank to give it the appearance of a big bike, it looks like a 200/250cc bike. In terms of the instrument cluster, it just doesn't suit the bike; it's outdated, it doesn't have all the connectivity options, it's not colored, and it just doesn't reflects on the bike's style. HD 440X have nailed with a small single pod led cluster. People will have a polarising thoughts on the exhaust note but hello it is a single cylinder unit and I feel it has given its best shot.
When you ride 440 cc actually should feel like 440 cc but look n feel will not enhance the power it generates which still make you feel underrated.. Whereas coming to Triumph 400cc the power it generates and compression ratio it generates really make you feel hassle free when you drive through ghats that's where you will feel the lag.. With price distribution of 2.69 and giving oil cooled engine does not support high performance whereas Liquid cool engine of Triumph performs far better... But at the end it's always own choice

I hav heard that there is some kind of underlying engine issue with the bike. I visited reiuom dealership in chennai recently, they had 4 speeds with engine issues there. And even a lot of ppl are talking about replacing many core engine components. So yes it is a good bike, but bajaj does not do new engines well, it happened with bothe dukes in the past.
It’s a small bike with a compact frame. Anyone above the 5’10 will look super weird on it. When the presenter stands next to it, the size is quite evident.

I prefer spoked wheel on the himalayan but alloys on the scram. But truthfully the bike Ivwould really like as my next one is Hero xpukse 420. It will be the cheapest to run of all, will give the most mileage and would be the most trouble free of all. Unfortunately there is no whiff as to when it will arrive

I still pity some people who argue the engine to be the same as the new KTM-Bajaj 400cc engine.
All triumph classics have the right side chain drive as the same goes with speed 400, and the engine is 390+ cc. However, people still compare this with the same as KTM and bajaj 373cc and left side chain drive engine. They're so informed that they don't believe the manufacturers facts and their's own eyes.

Good review. At that price, level of quality and speed, Triumph 400 is a real Bomb. This bike is well balanced, smooth refined, good looking, fast (160km/h) and eco 3.3L /100km. Big mistake not to put a USB charger (maybe later). Another interesting bike is the Harley Davidson 440 but is is heavy (190 kg, slower and drinks more petrol (3.8L-100km) nice looks, fat & louder but very good price and many help for driving, usb, turn to turn, call to accident...
Every thing is good about bike, but.... but main concern is about service experience as Enfield has biggest network, do these bike will deliver same amount of service, even Honda Big Wing failed to deliver, due to which Higness such a good product but still it is struggling to survive in market.
How is H'ness a good product for 2.5 lakhs? When this bikes provides double the power, more torque, Triumph badge, better fit and finish, USD, liquid cooling, ride by wire etc.

Atleast he's honest- only one to opine that the service charges should be made affordable. Plus the only person to comment regarding 0-100kmph; takes 7 seconds. Same as duke 390 in indian conditions.

Nope, i want the service to be expensive. Royal Enfield ki service is absolutely trash, can't diagnose issues, can't fix problems, can't even service the bike properly. Honda Big Wing service is hassle free and genuinely good, they absolutely justify the price with the service with chilled waiting room, properly trained technicians and good staff behaviour. By the looks, the spoke connecting wheel rims looks so thin. Hope they don't break on Indian potholes over long rides like early Duke 390s.
Due to the paint job, fit and finish of the Triump 400 series (despite Bajaj's assertion that it is not based on KTM engines), they were never supposed to charge 2.23L, but after looking at the lucrative HD X440 pricing, they had to lower the price to remain competitive.
I personally think HD X440 is much better in many aspects, is well put together and looks balanced from all angles.
There is no cohesive styling to the Triump 400 series at the rear and the grab handles are clearly an afterthought.
There should have been a bigger tank to give it the appearance of a big bike, it looks like a 200/250cc bike.
In terms of the instrument cluster, it just doesn't suit the bike; it's outdated, it doesn't have all the connectivity options, it's not colored, and it just doesn't reflects on the bike's style. HD 440X have nailed with a small single pod led cluster.
People will have a polarising thoughts on the exhaust note but hello it is a single cylinder unit and I feel it has given its best shot.
When you ride 440 cc actually should feel like 440 cc but look n feel will not enhance the power it generates which still make you feel underrated.. Whereas coming to Triumph 400cc the power it generates and compression ratio it generates really make you feel hassle free when you drive through ghats that's where you will feel the lag.. With price distribution of 2.69 and giving oil cooled engine does not support high performance whereas Liquid cool engine of Triumph performs far better... But at the end it's always own choice
@@knightbatsy2595 Great point but I feel for any motorcycle look matters atleast to me a 400cc should look like a 400cc. HD440X though will not give you a typical twin cylinder HD feel but still a better relaxed all day cruise motorcycle.

I hav heard that there is some kind of underlying engine issue with the bike. I visited reiuom dealership in chennai recently, they had 4 speeds with engine issues there. And even a lot of ppl are talking about replacing many core engine components. So yes it is a good bike, but bajaj does not do new engines well, it happened with bothe dukes in the past.
It’s a small bike with a compact frame. Anyone above the 5’10 will look super weird on it. When the presenter stands next to it, the size is quite evident.
