You are an engineer. I remember first going into the trade and been told I should work in an office. Some people when they cut something and it isn't quite right will simply make it work. For me I will recite or adjust until it's right. Like a tile been laid. Some people will make it work. I will pull it out and either add or remove material to make it better. That is the difference in making a less tolerance. You are a maestro in engineering precision working to the best of your ability. You get satisfaction. One of the reasons even if my quote is double to competitors they will make more money than me because they are quantity.
I will try your method of improving a square. I have over a period of time bought different sizes of engineers squares. I also imported Japanese steel rulers. Thankyou for your invaluable utube uploads.

Very well done. 2 screen shots will be filed in a folder. Thank you! On tip. Aluminum squares will cut if running a blade on them. I guess you could even blemish a steel square too. Keep one for cutting and one for reference only. Make a wall mount that will never allow it to fall. Maybe something with a V mount or a PVC tube. Treat them like gold. Keep an an extra one for rough handling.

Wow, I like your videos! I just about had a heart attack when I saw what I thought was you adjusting your Chappell square. I had to watch several times to see that you were adjusting Swanson and Johnson squares, and not the Chappell (I think). I have been thinking about buying the Chappell for several years, but I could never find one in stock! So I just ordered a Johnson CS12 and looked for videos on how to adjust it. Yours is the best I have found.
