After this video was posted it was brought to my attention during video edit there was a bit out of sequence issue so I wanted to make sure the following steps are followed to make sure as much old oil is removed as possible.
- Start with removing the oil plug and LEAVE THE PLUG OUT
- Remove and replace the old oil filter
- Reinstalled the oil drain plug (with new crush washer)
- Fill Oil
- Check for leaks
- Check Oil Level

Thank you for the info. Turned out to be a very straight forward job. If you don't have a 32MM socket, a 1 1/4 inch works.

Thanks for the feedback, I just did my second oil change and I tried using a tool to suck the oil out of the dipstick and it did not work so well. Back to this method :)

Yep.... Exactly how i did it.. Even without a torque wrench
There's a reason Por Sha dealerships use an oil extractor to change the oil. You get more oil out, it's not messy, and it makes the job super easy in comparison to what you did here. With the filter on top (awesome!), you dont even need to jack the vehicle up. It literally takes longer to pour the new oil in than get it out.
What pump set up do you use, I tried a pneumatic pump and it did not work so well?
@@Fulloctanegarage I don't wish to endorse a product, but it's 'mity' easy to use, albeit not perfect. Hand pump version. I had issues (super slow) extraction on my Supra because I didn't let the oil warm up enough to lower the viscosity enough. I thought the extractor was broke. Got the Cayenne up to temp and 7 - 8 hot quarts of pitch black sucked out in about 3 minutes. A little tricky to determine how much hose to insert into the dipstick to hit the sweet spot, but once you do...bam! So easy. Dare I say fun.
This demonstration was for a Cayenne Diesel. Do you know if this procedure of adding a dip stick would work for a 2014 Cayenne (92A) gas engine?

Nice video. As others have said get an evacuator pump to suck the oil out through the dipstick tube. Everything is done from above for an oil change. Porsche has come up with an improved drain plug. It is now Torx. The 6 mm drain plug would strip out easily ( ask me how I know ). Also you might try Petroleum Service Company for the diesel spec oil. I use the Castrol 5W30 VW spec 507 oil.
I tried an inexpensive electric and a pneumatic evacuator and they both stunk. There must be a more expensive one that is better. Hope to find a better one in the future.

Where did you find the oil filter housing torque of 22lbs? I have same year and looks like my cap says 35Nm.trying to validate correct pec for this year.
Done this many times and would like to add. Get an oil pump from Amazon for $15 and just pull the oil out of the dip stick tube. Works great and better than working under the car. Also the measurement you get right after the change is not accurate. Must drive the car a while then will measure it right.
Also the oil always looks black even after a few hundred miles, different from a gas engine.

Thanks for the info, I thought about using a drain tube pump but I was worried the oil level tube would not go to the bottom of the pan,. Is there a small tube that slides in the dip stick tube so it can reach the bottom? Which one did you get on Amazon? Thanks, Curt

The YaeTek oil extractor comes with a long tube that does a good job. I measure when I remove the oil and can get between 7-7.5 L oil out. Just as good as pulling the oil plug and lot easier, especially since the filter is on top. Use hose clamps to secure the tubing on the pump, I didn’t and made a mess. I believe this is how the dealer does it.
@porschegarydr Just wondering how easy is it to clean those oil extractors? Do you just wipe them out or wash them? Do you change the tubings each time for different grades of oil or after storage? Thx

If you don't remove the filter first before reinstalling the drain plug you dump the dirty oil in the filter into the pan.

Thanks for the informative video. I just bought a 2014 cayenne diesel and will be doing an oil change right away. Did you need a special diagnostic tool to reset the computer showing that you had done the oil change? I've read it can not be reset thru the car alone. Wondering if I can get it reset at advance auto or another shop at a minimal cost.
Good question, it does need a special tool to do a reset. The way I currently know works is a Durametric but it is not cheap, $287 and it supports up to 3 VIN's. There is a kit you can buy for unlimited vins (the professional) for $735, if you buy that you could charge folks a few bucks to help pay back on the investment.
I am told the iCarsoft POR-II Porsche OBD-II Scanner Tool will do resets. I plan to dig in to this more to confirm it will work on the Diesel and do a test shortly.
I have friends with the durametric so they have been resetting mine for free but now we have 3 Porsche's in the collection we need to buy our own.

@@Fulloctanegarage So I just completed the Oil/Filter Change on my 2014 Diesel Cayenne and everything was just as you showed with the exception of the drain bolt. For some reason my drain bolt needed a Torx 45 bit instead of a Hex #6 bit. Nothing a few trips to Home Depot didn't solve. I also went to my local VW dealership and purchased the Dipstick for only $34.60 (they had to special order it but they said it will arrive tomorrow). Hopefully it fits. While I was there I picked up some Adblue which was a fraction of the cost there for the same product Porsche uses. The half gallon container with the fill adapter on it was $4.84 compared to the $12+ Porsche charges and i got a 2.5 gallon jug for $10.70. I also ordered the iCarsoft POR-II Porsche OBD-II Scanner Tool from Amazon yesterday which is set to arrive tomorrow. I'll let you know if it allows me to reset me oil change miles. Any other How-To Videos in the pipeline for your Cayenne???
@@jibreger Awesome, I will double check on the oil plug size. I just received my iCAR PORII today and I also purchased a Mityvac (MIT7300) Air Operated Fluid Evacuator to see if I can pull the oil out of a tube down the dipstick hole. I think that is how the dealer does it.
I am due for my next oil change so I will try to do it this weekend and get a video up soon. Next how to after that will be the fuel filter replacement and I should be able to use the Mityvac on that also. amzn.to/2LTdQlc

should have replaced the oil filter first, then drain the oil. old oil from filter drains into the oil pan.
Thanks for pointing this out. For this oil change here are the steps I followed.
I started the oil pan draining and while the oil plug was out I then removed the oil filter and changed it. Once I reinstalled the oil filter I then reinstalled the oil drain plug.
- Start with removing the oil plug and LEAVE THE PLUG OUT
- Remove and replace the old oil filter
- Reinstalled the oil drain plug (with new crush washer)
- Fill Oil
- Check for leaks
- Check Oil Level

I agree, I usually open the dipstick or oil cap first, drain the oil then take the oil filter out. Usually a whole bunch more oil comes out but not so much with a top sided oil filter. Still good advice. Replace filter first, drain plug then fill. leave dipstick out or open and the oil goes in easier. every car/suv is different. On Chevys, I cut the funnel end at an angle and it lets some pressure out without overflowing the funnel which can really suck!!!!

I believe they are the same engines so it should be the same. The engine is shared with VW and Audi SUV's also.
Imaniguana I just completed an O/C on a 2014 Cayenne Diesel that i've had for a month now. The process was exactly how Full Octane Garage demonstrated however my oil drain bolt required a Torx T45 bit instead of the Hex #6 bit that he used. The bit cost me $2 from Home Depot. I'm wondering if the drain bolt was changed out from the OEM bolt or if the 2014 just has a different head on it from the 2015. Either way the Oil Change went smoothly as soon as i got my hands on the correct drain plug bit. All the parts, Oil, Filter, Filter Bolt were the same as the 2014. Just make sure that when you order the filter that the gasket is included in the box. The first one i ordered from Amazon was without it.

That oil that came out looks like it has been in there a while.
It sure did not match the windshield sticker the Ford dealer posted.
fyi, diesel oil turns black like this about 10 seconds or so after start. no way to tell oil age except to send it out to be tested.

Perhaps you don't have another one. Perhaps you are afraid to overtighten the drain plug because you're smart and don't want to crack the oil pan when you find out your torque wrench is missing, and the one you have on hand only gauges to 150 inch pounds, the 264 equating to 22 ft lbs. You've never seen such a pool of wasted oil. : ((
My new process is to suck the oil out of the dipstick tube with a vacuum pump. As some have noted this is how many dealers are doing it.
“The diesels are required to have an oil change every 5000 miles”. I don’t even need to bother to look this up to know that this is a giant nonsense.

You should use a oil extractor LOL this is obviously not designed to drain the oil underneath
