I grew up in Northampton and it used to be a major boot and shoe industry town, savaged down to only a few manufacturers as this gentleman says. Full respect to him for starting Altberg when all other boot and shoemakers were closing. Love Yorkshire - they call a spade a spade and are genuine and just nice people overall and I love living here now. My Mother loves your boots and I'm off for a wide-fitting fit :)
Excellent boots. I've had a pair of their Tethera for ten years and I'm just about to buy another pair of the same boot before the UK goes to hell in a hand cart. For anyone who has noticed the change in shoe sizes over the past few years I contacted Altberg. They replied that they've used the same lasts since they started. So if you were a size 9 ten years ago, you'll still be a size 9 and not a size 10 or 11 like other shoe manufacturers.
I have really wide feet and have a hard time finding boots that fit. I'm very thankful to Altberg for making boots that are genuinely comfortable. I've tried them all, Lowa, Danner, etc. If you're in the same boat, It's likely that their A-Form Extra-Wide or G-Fit will fit you. In addition, my dominant foot is 1/2 bigger than my non-dominant foot. You can custom order boots from the factory as a split size.
Legend. A true and humble expert craftsman of his trade. Having used many different brands and types of boots over the years, Altberg is the best. I've used expensive, cheap and mid-range of all kinds of materials. I've used boots for military use, safety boots for construction, safety boots for warehousing, summer mountaineering, winter mountaineering, ice climbing, lowland trek boots... You name it and I've done it. Currently I'm policing with Altberg P1's on a daily basis and occasionally as my second boot their Warrior Aqua. I've been using them for about 4 years. I can't speak highly enough of their quality, comfort and practicality. My force issue Magnums for public order deployments, so I have to use them and I can tell the difference between Magnums, which are obviously mass-produced in a factory, vs. the Altbergs which I can tell are lovingly made by craftsmen & women in a factory steeped in tradition and expertise. I'm thinking of either the Blueline, Tabbing or Sneeker boots as my next boot, purely because they are more lightweight, and I'm considering the AForme last because it sounds like I'll get an even better fit and better practicality from them. The problem is... It'll take me a long time to wear out the boots I already have!
I wish you’d provide the length and width measurements for each size, so I can measure myself and order online. There isn’t a stockist near me that carries all the sizes, so I need to order online
Fantastic Comfortable boots. I got my first pair in 1993, and on my third pair now. I intend visiting the factory shortly for some shoes. I need extra wide fitting boots and I can honestly say these Altberg boots are the most comfortable boots I've ever had. Thank you Altberg.
Falling in love with thus company. This is why I would buy Solovair over Dr Martens any day. Saving up for some Altbergs for my week backpacking around Scotland in April.
i have plantar fascitis heel pain and altbergs help me to keep on camping hiking, i love all leather shoes they don't stink, i can wear boots with no socks, my heel flares up, and only solution is no socks sometimes
The volume idea of width fitting is bad for feet because it inevitably still squeezes toes inwards on a natural foot, even if there's lots of room elsewhere.
Nice video, but TBH I prefer the linear system of measuring the widths. Shame that altberg doesn't offer the NATO sizing system, even in their army boots
Given that you have made a lot of money from soldiers who buy your expensive boots, you are one of the few businesses that has not provided any discounts to HM Forces (see Blue Light discounts) Why is that? If you truly care for those who have made sacrifices for this country, those who serve and essentially those who have run your business by buying your products, a small way to recognise this is to offer a discount to serving personnel. Yet you have not done so in any form!!
massive respect for this man! he knows what he is talking about

Love my Altbergs wide fitting

The music is annoyingly loud. Apart from that, perfect.
Wonderful to see a true craftsman at work in the UK! (Not having been closed down by our government’s policies)
