I'll look at these if my Warrior's ever die, 8 years on and still going strong! The craftmanship is appreciated, best bit of kit I have ever bought. Worth every penny.
I have a pair of defender 2s, I was looking for new boots and settled on Altberg, just because of how much this young man cares. Try some you won't be disappointed.
Excellent fit immediately! Put on, laced up and went out for a 7miler in XC.......,no blisters, no pressure points and best of all no slipping of the the heel.
Very impressed with these. Going to be upgrading my defenders to these. I have very narrow feet and many shoes, are simply too wide. The defenders are a good fit but are starting to relax a bit after use. I am glad we get to see the last here. I think the lasts at timberland were drawn by a child of 4 years, since they fit like bath tubs!
I got issued the defender and it makes me wish I hadn’t bothered with buying my own boots to begin with. Excellent quality British leather boot. I will try to wear them in when this flipping coronavirus lockdown gets done with.
Well, I have started wearing them and I will tell you, by doing the trick where you tie a surgeon knot across the front of the boot where the top of the foot finishes and the ankle starts, then running the laces straight up to the top loops then cross crossing back down to tie the laces in the middle of the boot, they’re brilliant.
@@georgemorley1029 What an odd comment; you seem to be arguing with something that I did not write. I noted that it is a British boot, made by a company in Spain. Did I state that it is not a British boot?
I have the older style with the yellow sole tag. I have a very narrow foot but they are still snug with thinner socks and even better when I wear thicker socks..
My biggest problem with altberg boots was always my heel slipping around never had any bother with that in my AKUs however think this new boot will be great love to get my hands on a pair!
If anyone ever asks me what make my boots are I always proudly say Altburg opps. Once you've had a pair of Altburg there is no going back. I am now on one of the latest A form military boots. It's a higher leg one. I got measured up at the shop 10 miles from where I live. I went to collect and they were perfectly comfortable the minute I put them on. I had no break in period. They are good for a 10 hour day doing field archery or walking. They are waterproof to the top of the boot. I don't understand why they are less popular. I had the old defender boots for many years but I love these. I'm not military. These boots are the best quality in the world. Proud Yorkshire company. well, it is a good stuff. membrane is good for wetness but not when water goes beyond top point. so u got to have no membrane boots as well. to be equipeed for all kind of situations. membrane boots dry out a week or more. so its better to get wet with no membrane, change socks, dry boots for 2 hours and u are good to go

I’ve got a pair of ex issued servicemen Defenders boots. They’re by far the best boots I got. I have a brand new pair of the latest BA Haix boots they’re going In landfill. Very uncomfortable
Good Morning, I can say first hand soldiers have loved this boot over the years which they bought from their own money. So I am pleased they won the tender for the British Armed Forces. Now they are issued. Thank you for supplying a top class boot. There only one area they can improve is they are extremely slippery on wet rocks. Thst one area I didnt organise in the trials. Even though the bulk of the boots where trailed at Catterick. I would be keen to hear the feed back si see if they can improve the sole gripping. Unfortunately I did not specifically mention this in the URD. As there was no reports on the first phase one selection or the concluding trials before the tender.
You can make the soles meet SRC standard for slip resistance on wet surfaces but they will be wearing out faster and be more expensive to produce. Haix boots have SRC antislip soles but Altbergs are so much more aesthetically pleasing.
Sir, I am an American. Are the UK sizes the same as ours? I wear a 13D; which is a medium width. On one site selling your boots, they suggested going up a 1/2 size. Is that your advice?
UK sizes are usually half a size larger than US. I am generally 10.5 UK, and 11 US. However, I find Altbergs sized a little on the small side, and an 11 fits me really well. I should go for a 13M if I were you. I recommend them highly, they're the best boots I've owned, fantastic construction, light, and comfortable.
Wonky sizing. I ordered the number and width I needed, and the boot to significantly smaller than it should. Probably not a manufacturing fault, but a labelling problem. And the store refused (absolutely told me to go away, no refunds). So I've got an expensive pair of nice looking ill fitting boots.
I've got wide feet and i just can't get the altbergs to fit. I'm normally a 10.5 but even a UK 11 is too tight in the toe box for me. And I'm only a skinny guy as well. If you've got wide bone structure in your feet, especially towards the front I'd go with something else. My haix in 10.5 fit like a (foot) glove though.
@@Darrenski I tried loads of Altbergs on, all the different foot shapes. None of them fitted right. I'm back to using Altra's, which are foot shaped, they've recently created some goretex walking boots that are really good. They don't last as long as tough leather boots but they are much lighter and more comfortable.
Would give you a five star rating good buddy but I can't cos I'm from lancashire atb pal keep up the good work mate and hope you move to the right side of the border soon 😘
If it ain't broken do not fix it. The British Army issued your defender boot to soilders because it was excellent as it was and did what they wanted a boot to do etc, the sole it came with was perfect and everything about that boot was obviously right. I do not think the military will issue your new version of the defender boot because it doesn't have the same dynamics as the previous version and with all due respect I think it was not your best idea to have altered the sole into a running sole, it doesn't do the things the previous sole was doing in fact it has removed many great things the previous sole did and for what? to be a running boot? .. just doesn't make any sense. You had the right formula in the none running sole boot version leave it alone and if anything consult the military on anything they would like to have enhanced with the boot otherwise leave it alone. I mean when the British Army issue your boot its about the best compliment you can get as a boot maker and it should be obvious that's your winning formula right there ie the normal sole defender boot. I believe you hit the big time because of the defender boot forget the entire running sole nonsense. I want to point out to you that the chances are if it wasn't for that normal soled defender boot you might not be in the great position as a company that you are in now. Noel Gallagher stated in an interview to the interviewer that if his song "Wonderwall" had been put on his "What's the story morning glory" ? album and had not been released as a single that he would not be sat there talking to him at all, in other words that was the key difference between success and failure of Noels life.
