I still have my original pair which I bought soon after you started making them. Word spread fast and I popped in on my way back to Colchester to get a pair. They've been back for refurbishment but are still my best boots. When we transitioned to the Brown boot I did take a pair of yours but whenever I was in the field I wore my original black boots. I wear them in the hills in Scotland and Norway now as walking boots.
What a amazing story, thank you for making such great products. I work as a police officer and we get issued Magnum boots, I soon realised all the experienced officers had alt-bergs. I changed and never looked back. Great quality and genuinely makes me feel safer.
Have 2 pairs of F&F, one with cordura side panels (93) and one with leather sides (94). Still have both, although the factory told me that they won't be able to re-sole the cordura ones again as they're now too far gone. 30 years of hard life and reliable performance says all you need to know about this wonderful company.
Mike - I just love your hearing these stories, Altberg is an amazing brand making some truly unique boots that are hard to beat. You sir are my hero - it was a pleasure working with you in the 80's at Fairfield - you were my inspiration when starting out in this industry where I still work 37 years later. Will have to swing by Richmond some day soon to take a look, say hello and pick up a pair or two.
I used issue boots on a exercise, came back and brought my own, Danner boots they were good, got the Altberg , they are very good indeed,,look after them and they last
Lovely video, as they all are! My dear wife and i popped in a couple of weeks back. Excellent service as per usual. Wife bought another pair, i didn’t need any, as they are of such good quality, but now i saw the Narvik, oh blast! 🥰 I guess we’ll have to come back soon. We whish you all a Merry Christmas (and a happy midsummer …) All the very BEST from Sweden🇸🇪 Annika & Magnus Uvebrant
I was in Catterick and bought a pair of the original boots, which were virtually made to order back then. They were, and remain, excellent. Now, as a Police Officer, I've worm them at work for over 10 years, as I found the Magnum boots caused my heel and achilles to ache. It stopped when I wore Altbergs and I haven't worn anything else since. It's now great to see the Army wearing them as standard issue! Thinking back to the awful high leg boots we were issued in the early 80s, they were terrible! I recall standing in a full bath to get them to soften up, but they didn't! It turned out the manufacturer told the Army to issue them with neatsfoot oil to soften the leather, but the supply system didn't do that for several years! Some things don't change!
I love watching your videos. I find them really interesting and informative. I especially like watching your bootcare videos and use nothing but your products now. i like to refer back to them on a regular basis to just make sure that I am looking after my boots in the correct manner. How about doing a video on the correct use of Leder-Gris Extreme? I've had a tin of this for a while now but I'm not 100% sure on when and how to use it correctly. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for such a moving heartfelt story, I’ve just purchased my first pair, your Tethera as recommended wholeheartedly from a guy in Hathersage Derbyshire, who likewise told me how you first started, he couldn’t recommend a better boot for me and I can’t wait to bag those Wainwrights this Autumn and Winter.
Such an amazing story! I just love the fact someone can ask you to make a certain type boot, and you have no problem make it. I'm currently going through my training for the army reserves. I have been issued with the Defender Mk2 and Iturri desert boots. I also bought a pair of the old Defender a few years a go, when I was planning to do Walk The Wight. I will point out, I much prefer the closed lace style over the opened hooks. Even though I'm happy with my issued boots, I'm tempted to try the military ops and desert boots.
Ohh! I forgot! I am really looking forward to your Chukka boots😍 I gave the prototype a good squeeze at the factory. Please sign me up for a pair or two. 👍🌟
Could we get a video of your country boots, the barningham boot and the raby boot. Very hard to get any information, reviews or even good pictures or a walk round video
You can feel and hear the pride... in the man, of the workmanship, that goes into the boots 👍 on the strength of this video my next boots will be kven.
I have the altberg defenders mk2 and Been using them very often for the last 2 years. The only flaw I can find is the 5th eyelet (near the ankle) cuts through laces very fast, I've been through 3 pairs of laces so far however it does look like you've improved that specific eyelet and position on the new boots
Solder 95 assault are rubbish after 5 years the soles start falling apart I was a custody officer after my 22 I kept my boots I wore them to work and the rubber started to break off. The pro boot is excellent I have had mine over 30 years , had them resoled twice
The CBH was a total piece of crap. I got a pair of Danners...and eventually bought of pair of your high legs in around 1993 I think, which did me proud!
That’s not field and fell how I remember it 1st of my field and fell was a black boot and had the rock hard skywalk sole which was ok as it accepted a berghaus yeti gaiter, the boot was heavy and fell to bits the sole came of on mine and the leather ripped bought them back in 1997 binned them about 2000, great boot had danner Acadia while serving to found them so much more comfortable than field and fell but were a tad heavier had the defender mk1 boot too bought them when I passed out of ITC catterick again had the skywalk sole lasted about 5yr then got binned bought some defenders again in 2008 so much better with the vibram sole they seen the last of my days out in the army(2012) still have them but the soles are like slicks so in the near future will be going down to your shop for a resole as I’ve taken walking up and the defenders are mint for walking in
What is wrong with the name Altberg? If the products are top quality, they will sell regardless of the name of the manufacturer. Altberg boots are top quality and they win huge contracts to supply the British army and the Army’s of other countries. Doesn’t look like the name Altberg has been any problem at all. Shame you have nothing constructive to say🤔🤪.
My first Danners were £220 in 90s and more now 🫣 But Not as good as they were I feel 😢 Ps iv had the field and fell as well 👍🏻😁 Now wearing the Peacekeeper P3 aqua ( I hate safety boots 🥾 😢)
Field and Fell was my first Altberg boots, have them for 7-08 years now and holding up great. Couldn't recommend them more.

Beautiful story, thanks for sharing!
Thank you Alt-berg for a heartwarming story from a very hard working, kind, and sincere man at Christmastime ☃️🎄🥾.

Wow, what a story, I have heard about these boots, I will start saving up for a pair although it may take a while.

Ohh! I forgot! I am really looking forward to your Chukka boots😍 I gave the prototype a good squeeze at the factory. Please sign me up for a pair or two. 👍🌟
Just got myself some field and fell originals. A superb boot! Great all rounder in my opinion

Great story. Can we have a video showing the boot been manufactured?
You can feel and hear the pride... in the man, of the workmanship, that goes into the boots 👍 on the strength of this video my next boots will be kven.

I love my new Alt-berg defender!
Fantastic quality, extremely comfortable and smart.

Hello, I really like these boots.
I would like to know how to wash them inside? And with what?
Thank you very much.
Great story
Brilliant. I want a job.
How do I get a black version with red laces?
Fantastic story.
Where did you get the name Altburg from?
All the best.👍🏾🇬🇧
Yeah your getting my business, no doubt. That’s how you sell some product.
Hi can you confirm which altberg boots to order for wet and cold weather. Any specific model. And until what minimum temp does it work.

Solder 95 assault are rubbish after 5 years the soles start falling apart I was a custody officer after my 22 I kept my boots I wore them to work and the rubber started to break off. The pro boot is excellent I have had mine over 30 years , had them resoled twice

OH, PLEASE SUPPRESS THIS UNUSEFUL AND BORING'' MUSIC' '
From all the names you could have chosen for a company.I don’t know why you would chose this one.Very bad choice🇬🇧
