I first heard Delbert's deep hearted soulful voice on the radio in 1980 when " Giving Up For Your Love" hit and I swore he was black, I loved that voice. Of course I learned he was a white boy and that really blew my mind . Later, I had moved to Dallas, Texas and heard he was going to be at a little club down on Greenville Av. , this was right after I saw him on Letterman so there I went. My wife wouldn't go , bitch wasn't into good music, anyway Delbert had a new fan for life and I was 25 when I first heard him and I am 67 now . I have seen him countless times and I am a bit saddened by his retirement from the road but I certainly understand. That man has criss crossed this country countless times bringing a certain way of singing to masses and I know that most anyone who has heard him sing can never forget him . I love that cat , what a treasure for all of us to have had him and I wish him all the best in his retirement. Thank you sir for years of pure get down rock'in music as only you can bring it !
Delbert ,im a musician, over 50 years now and you are my hero ,and my rock ,we all need your music and your songs stories,to lean on most of us are not as strong as you!!!keep on keepin on brother,
