    Karnehm truly was an underrated gem of a commentator.

      I can do all this on a 7x4 pool table (or could I am old now) but on a 12x6 it is a whole new ball game his timing and touch is spectacular and often beyond words.

    I get a bit confused when people say Stephen Hendry brought a new attacking style of snooker to the game.Don't get me wrong he took the bar to a new level with his consistency and will to win but you can't get more attacking and fluid than a prime Jimmy White before Hendry even came along.Hendry was by far a greater winning machine I get that but Jimmy was playing shots nobody could play in his era.

    Jimmy was the most attacking player on the circuit. He had a good safety game, but he would try to win a frame in 1 visit, just like most player's today. Back then there was only a few really attacking player's. Alex, Jimmy, Kirk, Tony Drago. Jimmy was a joy to watch back then. So young and fearless. A really popular player, the crowds loved him, everyone I knew loved him. He took Alex's crown as the People's Champion. A great player. He's won 10 ranking titles. That's more than Cliff Thoburn, Terry Griffith's, Dennis Taylor, Shaun Murphy, Ken Doherty, Kyren Wilson, Shaun Maguire. Most of those player's won 1 world title, yet Jimmy was a much better player. GO ON JIMMY.
    Jimmy 21 years old winning the masters.
    He was only 19 when he got to the semi final of the world championship in 1982 and should have beaten Alex, but Alex pulled off that break which is up there with Ronnie's 92 as the greatest break ever, especially when you consider it was to stay in the world semi finals. 1 miss and Jimmy would have been in the final. I believe if Jimmy had beaten Alex, he would of potted Ray Reardon off the table and won the world title in 1982.

    Poor Jimmy despite having the talent he only ever won 2 Majors in this years masters and the UK Championship in 1992 I think.6 times world runner up is a shame really because he could have won 2 of those so easily especially the last final in 95 but he'll be a legend as long as Snooker exists.

    • @paulr6881

      The last world final he was in was 94👍

  • @paulbanks223
    @paulbanks223 2 года назад +2

    When Jimmy's eye was in and his confidence up he was near unplayable. It really is a testament to just how good Hendry was that he managed to hold Jimmy at bay so many times. Kirk was no also ran either, flamboyant, great shot maker and more than capable of making a break. Many hope of course Jimmy might just find a bit of real form and have a final crack at the WC, he still has the talent he can still make the shots, a little confidence, a bit of concentration and a bit of luck and who knows. I would really settle for a weekly tv show Jimmy and guest, a couple of friendly frames with a few entertaining shots with like players, Ronnie, Judd etc, maybe best of 3 fun frames.

    • @steviegbcool
      @steviegbcool 2 года назад +1

      I think Jimmys problem was nerves sometimes the pressure got to him but when it was off like at the end of this frame he could do things nobody else could.

    • @paulbanks223
      @paulbanks223 2 года назад +3

      @@steviegbcool Best of it is despite his poor form he is able to not only recreate all the naughty snooker shots but is still more than capable of finding us new ones. I was an Alex fan, sure not the greatest of people but for naughty snooker there was only Alex. Then came along Jimmy the young pretender who I had heard of long before he hit the circuit and thought no way Alex is the boss. It wasn't too long before he won me over and he continues to be a firm favourite. Your right he does seem to lose it a little but win or lose I will watch whatever. its either that or miss one of those magic moments.
