Whenever I get killed by a 100 service star hellriegel I have to sit in my chair and think about why this person never gets bored limiting themselves to only one weapon or just how much time the spend playing this game. It’s fascinating.
Also, I unfortunately have 3 shitstain service stars on my account for this thing. Just to get the Defensive variant, because I like to collect things in-game.
I dont use it anymore couse i know that when i get killed by heirigel with 100 service stars im not enjojing it. I much prefer mp18 and that french carbine.

Look at the M416 in BF3 or the AEK/Famas I agree tho, the weapon balance update should habe released maybe 3 months into the game, not a year late. Westie I clicked on it because I watch every video you post despite of how good or bad it is, since you’re most reliable for BF news imo. You have no idea how many times I’ve used weapons you recommended in-game and soon became my favourite weapons for the classes. Except for the SMLE of course, my heart will always belong to the Lebel :)
I don't even feel like I've played with it to much and I already have 15 service stars. Definitely one of the funnest weapons because up close no-one stands a chance and at range it's actually decent as long as you are tapping the trigger.
Nicholas it's actually quite good if you use it in medium range combat, especially the optic version. The low rate of fire makes it very manageable, and you don't waste a half mag shooting the air. But for close combat the automatico will obviously always win.
It makes no sense that people love the Hellreigel. It’s so overpowered and no matter what DICE does to it, it’s always going to be overpowered. It pulls people away from medic and support classes because it’s like “oh why be helpful to the team when I can get a shit ton of kills with the assault?”

The Hellriegal is just a weapon that doesn’t involve much skill, just turns BF1 into a point and click game since you can easily drop a few people in front of you
in the current state of the game if you loose against a hellriegell on pc it is that you were bad, this weapon is beatable if you are skilled enough, but the autistico is litterally invincibility in close ranges, even if you shoot first and land hs, the autistico noobs have only to hipfire you and will win with only bodyshot. on console however i saw footages of the hellriegell and yeah it was pretty pathetic
It isn't that great even if you manage to hit the firecap which is just 359 RPM (about 6 clicks per second). Most players manage to reach that. If you fire faster, you will actually oversample and shoot slower than that. I just put all SMGs against each other on symthic and it shows that at all ranges, the M1917 Carbine has the slowest time to kill in its class, even if you managed to consistently hit that maximum firecap.
I love it tbh 9 service stars right now (albeit was using the other guns as well). It's just the remedial tap firing is what I like and also the fact that the hipfire is just godly. I believe in the TTK patch it will have it's old CTE 34 Max damage and 23 min damage in close to far range respectively. It will be able to compete just like a faster shooting medic rifle with 41 rounds to boot.
yea it is getting a big buff in the patch, The reason the m1917 carbine is ok in terms of TTK is that you literally never have to ADS inside of 35 meters, lowering your TTK substantially.
The Hellriegel was my favorite assault weapon until i managed to unlock the Ribeyrolles and it changed everything, it's just such a good and underrated weapon i've seen like only 3 people using it (on console) and it really saddens me.
Flying Cupcake Yeah I like how the Ribeyrolles can be used at far distances with the bipod. Reminds me more of playing a Support role with the plus of having a Rocket Gun and Explosives on hand.
Flying Cupcake I like it a lot but it's really a handful of you're not using the bi-pod. Once you use the Farquhar Optical in medic it's hard to go back
Good enough for close quarters i guess (without using the bipod at least), also tbh i just use the normal Farquhar for some reason i can't handle optical in BF1
No take out the hellriegel it's one of the most hated looked down upon weapon in the game.Only noobs or bad players like using this weapon because they can do well with it proving its a OP weapon and should be either removed or heavily debuffed.
jdc527 Gaming Yee in my opinion the only reason to use it is when you first unlock it. After a few hours of gameplay of it, you should start to gravitate back to two of the most versatile SMG's: the mp18 experimental and ribeyerolles.
The hellreigel is so OP i cant stand it. I hate to think that players who get loads of kills with it think they are great players. I avoid using it out of principle just because it is so overused.
I dont see them as skilled even if they have the 100 service star on it, i see them not pretty good with smgs like ribeyrolles or (somehow) the M1917 Trench Carbine
I avoid using actual overpowering things like elite kits, behemoths and gas grenades. A gun is a just gun no matter how annoying it is but there’s always a way to counter everything tho *shrugs shoulders*
Hellriegel is not op. It gets outgun by shotguns, automatico, revolvers and al8.35/8.25 at cqc and at mid range by pretty much all slr, ribey, mp18 and some lmgs. The only good thing is the mag.
Samuel J. Stuhlinger in cqc nearly 60% of all assault weapons are better than the hellriegel. In mid range, the rest of assault weapons, all slr, 50% of lmg are better than the hellriegel. The odds of encountering one of these guns is almost certain. The difference is positionning and the skill of the players that differentiate the result at the end.
M1917 trench. I don't use the noobriegel on sheer principle. It makes me feel like a noob. No skill needed. I hope they nerf the crap out of it or give it so much recoil it's like trying to aim while having an epileptic fit.
M1917 trench carbine for me also, love that gun...so satisfying to kill with, gain no pleasure from a hellriegel kill, and I tea bag anyone I kill who I see using one, I tea bag an enemy someone else has killed who I see using one, and even team mates who I see get killed whilst using it.
I bag hellreigel users too. I just wonder why players dont want to challenge themselves. If I'm playing well I'll switch to something i don't use often to mix it up. Hellreigel users are the kinda players that would stay on a team that heavily outnumbers the other team to get as many kills as possible whereas i like to make it competitive
Yes sir, it's like the cei rigotti on steroids. Hits just land, i've out-sniped snipers with it just from the awesome accuracy. Fedorov is good too, but it kicks too much.
That's a bit debatable. The Fedorov is monster at close range, the Selbstlader 1916 has a bigger capacity and almost identical ROF and the 1906 has extremely clean irons with excellent mid to long range capability, the RSC 1917 is a two-shot kill maximum, but the Farquhar-Hill is kind of like the jack of all trades.
My most used gun is the Parabellum. I like it because it's extremely good and dangerous, but still feels rewarding to get kills with due to the insane amount of recoil on it. Especially getting kills on people who are behind cover, and not very exposed, or people at range, without using a bipod, just feels rewarding to me. The Parabellum is my most used gun, but oddly enough I've never used a single gun enough to get over 3,500 kills with. I use everything in the game. I had a service star with mostly every weapon in Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4, including vehicles. I used every mostly every gun. I can't find satisfaction in using one gun for a long time. Especially not being bothered to get 100 stars with one, because I just can't be asked to use one gun for that long. I just don't see enjoyment in that.

The results of your polls are very easy to predict: people vote for the easiest weapon to use. Hellriegel and Fedorov are the most "noob" weapons in their respective classes.
Nicholas Everytime I see someone with 100 stars with Hellriegel or Model 10 Hunter I start boiling inside. Not only are those weapons easiest to use, they are severely overused. According to statistics, of all shotguns, Model 10-A Hunter is used about 75% of time. Sometimes I think that once your reach 25 stars with the Hellriegel or Model 10 Hunter, you shouldn't be able to use it anymore.
I don't understand people who can use a gun so much that they get 100 service stars with it. I literally have 3 guns that have more than 2 service stars but the rest pretty much has 2 or 1 service star. I just find myself wanting variety in what gun I use.
I don't really like the fedorov that much, the range is terrible. I much prefer the mondragon *Cough* over the Fedorov. I haven't yet unlocked the Hellriegel yet.
PAIN- Automatico is quite overpowered on PC. It doesn't require any skill at all. There's no need to aim down sights, you can just spray and people die at ranges that they shouldn't die so quickly. I can pick this stupid ass gun up and do three times better than most other guns. It's ridiculous.
And the vertical recoil can be viewed as a good thing as you fire at center body mass, and it recoils up to the headshot finish. One of the funnest guns in the game.
You should run a server 24/7 st Quentin scar, disable all firearms melee and grenade only, I would say pistol but they were in shortage for the entirety of the war operations and rush only

Only one puzzle piece away from the Russian award knife and I have completed the Fire and Ice campaign 10 freaking times, just to get some puzzle pieces
60 ammo magazine with no overheating, EXTREMELY accurate, VERY high rate of fire, barely ANY recoil, fast reload speed, start with 3 drum mags adding up to 180 bullets. There are no downsides to this weapon, only upsides. At least with the Automagical your magazine is much smaller and the weapon spread much higher. I've played BF1 for hundreds and hundreds of hours and can only conclude this weapon needs to be nerfed sooner rather than later. I mean this weapon pretty much falls into the LMG category with all the SMG benefits. I'm not salty about it, just realistic. I know a lot of people feel the same way about this weapon.
With reading Reddit and RUclips comments it's already no secret that the Automatico is considered overpowered on PC, while the Hellriegel is considered overpowered on consoles. So this poll is pretty much just showing on what platform the playbase is spread out on.
I need to play Assault a lot more to get the Hellrigel (and American revolver, cause Murica.) I always start out trying assault but get bored and go to sniping :P
Noobriegel on PS4 is just ridiculous, it really needs either less ammo or to overheat a lot faster than it does. Being able to kill 3-4 enemies that easy is just broken
Most popular =/= best. The Hellriegel is definitely not the best. It's just easy to use, which is why the average players gravitate towards it. Good players shouldn't have a problem dealing with Hellriegel users due to the MP 18 and Ribeyrolles having superior accuracy and the Automatico having a faster TTK up close. After the patch it's potential DPS will drop down the list. A 4HK 550 rpm MP 18 kills faster than a 5HK 650 rpm Hellriegel. After you add it's worse ranged effectiveness on top of that there really won't be much of a reason to use the Hellriegel except for it's 60 rounds magazine, which isn't worth it in my opinion. The MP 18 reloads in 2.1 seconds as long as you don't dump the entire magazine. Just make use of cover WHICH IS ALL OVER THE PLACE.
The thing is it is required to have some sort of aim assist on consoles. Games without it play absolutely terrible. A lot of PS2 games had that problem. I do not play on console but I heard that on BF1, it uses snap aim as aim assist. I think using sticky aim is a much better way of assisting the player while not feeling too unfair.
Jamesss Aim assist is kind of necessary. As someone who has tens of thousands of hours using a controller (11 years), I've only just started to be able to play without aim assist on a controller, but recently moved to PC.
Jamesss Yeah, I do agree that the snap aim is a strange choice that is basically an aimbot, but there are other methods of aim assist that still achieve the same goal of making the game fun while still rewarding skill. Hal 4 and 5 actually did this very well. They didn't have snap aim but rather a sort of guided aim. It basically waited until your cursor was really close the the target and then basically did the last bit of fine tuning. If you wanted a headshot, you still had to be accurate. It never snapped but just gently guided.

I have 30 service stars with the Hellriegel on console. Do I regret using it for so long? No. However, it just becomes too easy. The Hellriegel has assault-rifle accuracy for an SMG, and with 60 rounds to boot, like Westie said: "it's just an absolute bullet-hose." I can massacre people in a swath of bullets with this thing, but it just doesn't feel rewarding anymore. It's the same with the Model-10 Hunter. I only have I think 8 or 10 stars with it, but I'd rather use the Double-Barrel (1900) since the kills with it feel more rewarding. The Hellriegel I can tolerate having around because it does have a niche in this game. However, the 10-A hunter is the true mistake of Battlefield 1. The slug variant would have been enough, but any shotgun that is not a slug shooter, should not have that much range potential.
The Hellriegel 1915 (or as I call it, the Evil Magic) is overrated. I still firmly believe the MP18 Trench is the best smg. I have no other weapon (SMGs included) that comes even close to the +800 kills I have with it. The hip fire is obviously very good, but ironically enough I almost never use it. I find it has extremely good ADS stability and accuracy for trench variant, and thats how I've always used it. The Ribeyrolles is good too though.
MY BABY! THE RIBEYE MADE IT!!! That weapon is SOOOO underrated. It's my most used Assault weapon (not counting shottys) by far. If you overlooked it and are reading this, USE IT. You will not regret. Also due to my testing on CTE, the weapon's patch makes it even stronger, as Westie said.
For me its MP-18 Trench / Machinepistole M1912 / Ribeyrolles. I have a thing on not using overpowered weapons in all Battlefield games. I prefer using balanced or high risk/high reward weapons instead. And I have no problem being top of the scoreboard all the time and having kd of 3.4. I've seen soo many people with 100 autismatico and hellriegel stars who are absolute trash, and it makes me sad.
Medic Rifle is difficult to say which one is the best. Certain rifles perform better in certain circumstances, and with updates it changes things. For a long time Auto Loading model 8 was my go to, then the Fedorov came. The Farquaw-Hill is good when there is much open ground. Buy recent 2 weeks the medic rifles have felt weird, the Selbstadler 1916 os really shining right now. Complicated...
How was the selbalstlader m1916 so low on the poll? It's such a good weapon if you use 2.5 magnification on the marksman variation. Iron sights suck, but the scope is pretty good. You get a really good balance of range and CQ combat as long as you're not facing one of 3 things: an automatico, a shotgun, or just a plain really good player that can outplay the damage the selbalstlader can put out (2 body shot, or 3 if you get a leg shot if you can forgive the low-ish fire rate). If you play smart, you can easily take our squads of 4 or 5 people (I've done so consistently ever since I started using this weapon). The fedorov is the only competitor and it makes up for a mild lack of skill in CQ and medium range, but otherwise falls slightly behind, especially at longer distances. It also only has iron sights I believe, which is a big turn-off. I usually end up with the highest amount of kills and revives with this weapon, but my heals lag behind as I use them for myself most of the time since I play really aggressively.
For medic, RSC 1917 gets my vote. 2nd and third would be the Selbstlader 1906 and the Farquhar-Hill. The General Liu I like as well but I need to sharpen my handling with it. I enjoyed using the Federov when it came out but the RSC is still so much better and more satisfying to use. Two shots, next.
MP18 is best smg. I've wrecked people with hellriegels. It's the best gun in most overall situations. You can reach out with burst fire and surprise snipers. Go full auto in a room full of people. It's so satisfying to kill with this gun it's my best assault weapon with over 1500 kills. I haven't played alot since the first 3 months btw. Got to lvl 86 in a couple weeks. Got bored and went to bf4.
I seriously don't understand the serious hate behind the hellreigal on PC, the only times i've ever gotten pissed towards someone after being killed by it is people that are really bad, have terrible 5% accuracy etc but still get the kill due to the large amount of bullets in the clip. It's just such an avg gun with a lot of bullets, avg RPM, avg recoil, avg dmg I think people getting mad and claiming OP is more placebo than anything atm. I am really happy my Ribeyrolles got some love, its ok in close quarters only really gets wrecked by automatico or shotguns but far superior to the other smgs/assault weapons at mid range enough where you aren't just restricted to fighting in close quarters 100% of the time. Also minor detail you forgot to mention +Westie the ribeyrolles does slightly more dmg at range (minimum damage) than the other smgs.
What nonsense! Every class has it's Hellriegel, Farquhar Hill and Federov is just as powerful in the medic class. Parabellum in the support kit and don't even get me started on snipers. The Hellriegel has it's draw backs like every other weapon, Automatico vs Hellriegel in close quarters, the Automatico wins every time.
I refuse to use the Hellriegel (on Xbox) as a matter of principle. It is just playing the game on easy mode. I mean, 60 round mag, super fast fire rate, practically no recoil, laser-beam hipfire, and comparable BTK to other SMGs. It’s got practically no weaknesses. It ruins the balance of this game.
Very surprised to see Automatico at number 3. I thought it would’ve been the MP18. Also don’t feel like Ribey should even be on this list. It sounds like people voted to put it on there because of the new patch coming out and thinking, “Well, it’s probably going to be a lot better now. It’s gonna beat a lot more. Number 2.”
My favourite SMG is the M1917 Trench Carbine. It is great for when you have a large group of enemy that you have snuck up on as you can kill up to 10 people without having to reload (in theory, in practice it is usually 4-6 people max before you have to reload). It isn't too bad at range but it does take quite a few bullets to kill that pesky medic or sniper.
I honestly never liked using the Hellriegel. For one, it overheats and that would be enough. Second, I believe in a fair fight and the Hellriegel, plus the Automatico, don't bring that. The MP18 Trench has been with me ever since I started playing and I think it's the most fair SMG.
I believe that the SMG 08/18 is the most underrated SMG in Bf1. The recoil is extremely low and its 80 round drum magazine is just fantastic for playing Operations or some Conquest maps.
The 1917 Trench carbine is a new love. Accuracy is just crazy. Can fire at 150m and kill someone. Might take 15 rounds because it's a pistol cartridge but you got 41 of them bad boys.
I’ve already mastered the automáticos fire rate, 2 kills guaranteed in 1 clip, 3 kills max due to the lack of ammo and this is long range fight at 20 to 30m. I’ve already marked at 100 service stars with this butt clenching smg.
Why is there such a major difference between the i56600k and the i75820k. Do you set your priority for this game in task manager to high, because that is what I have to do with my 6600k that i overclocked to 4.2ghz.
Heilregals.... welll.... the clip is so big you could essentially take out 4 ppl at once in close quarters. I think the Automatico isn't quite as OP simply cause you don't have the amount of ammo and therefore have to plan it out if there's more than two ppl where you're about to assault. Ribey has a place in my heart. It just feels good :)

Other weapons in game that had far worse stats have been nurfed (fixed) and tweeked even the poor DPS of the 1903 experimental was made even worse in the name of balance but the hellriegel nothing of substance has ever been done because why? and before anyone goes on about how the hellriegel is fine yes it is an amazing weapon BUT any weapon that consistently accounts for over 45% of all usage and kills is by definition unbalanced and has been since launch
I've played BF1 on console since about March 2017. I don't think the reason the Hellriegel is so popular is because of the snap aim; I think it was because of easy-to-control recoil. It is a lot harder to aim and control recoil on controller, so the Hellriegel's lack of recoil made it very easy to use.
I just hate the Helriegel because it practically didn't exist. I think only two were ever made by the Austro-Hungarians, and they both bombed the weapons tests. We don't even have any evidence of them aside from like 4 pictures of them not firing.

Hellriegel needs a 20% vertical and 20% horizontal recoil increase, 15% slower reload and 17,5% worse overheat threshold to make it more balanced.

Nicholas it's actually quite good if you use it in medium range combat, especially the optic version. The low rate of fire makes it very manageable, and you don't waste a half mag shooting the air. But for close combat the automatico will obviously always win.

I hate how nobody loves the M1917 Carbine. It's a great weapon if you have a quick trigger finger.
It isn't that great even if you manage to hit the firecap which is just 359 RPM (about 6 clicks per second). Most players manage to reach that. If you fire faster, you will actually oversample and shoot slower than that.
I just put all SMGs against each other on symthic and it shows that at all ranges, the M1917 Carbine has the slowest time to kill in its class, even if you managed to consistently hit that maximum firecap.
I love it tbh 9 service stars right now (albeit was using the other guns as well). It's just the remedial tap firing is what I like and also the fact that the hipfire is just godly. I believe in the TTK patch it will have it's old CTE 34 Max damage and 23 min damage in close to far range respectively. It will be able to compete just like a faster shooting medic rifle with 41 rounds to boot.
yea it is getting a big buff in the patch, The reason the m1917 carbine is ok in terms of TTK is that you literally never have to ADS inside of 35 meters, lowering your TTK substantially.

The Hellriegel was my favorite assault weapon until i managed to unlock the Ribeyrolles and it changed everything, it's just such a good and underrated weapon i've seen like only 3 people using it (on console) and it really saddens me.

Flying Cupcake I like it a lot but it's really a handful of you're not using the bi-pod. Once you use the Farquhar Optical in medic it's hard to go back
I love the Ribeyrolles. 21 Service Stars, most with any weapon. The M1912 is also pretty fun to use and is pretty balanced imo.

Hellriegel is not op. It gets outgun by shotguns, automatico, revolvers and al8.35/8.25 at cqc and at mid range by pretty much all slr, ribey, mp18 and some lmgs. The only good thing is the mag.
Samuel J. Stuhlinger in cqc nearly 60% of all assault weapons are better than the hellriegel. In mid range, the rest of assault weapons, all slr, 50% of lmg are better than the hellriegel. The odds of encountering one of these guns is almost certain. The difference is positionning and the skill of the players that differentiate the result at the end.

That's a bit debatable.
The Fedorov is monster at close range, the Selbstlader 1916 has a bigger capacity and almost identical ROF and the 1906 has extremely clean irons with excellent mid to long range capability, the RSC 1917 is a two-shot kill maximum, but the Farquhar-Hill is kind of like the jack of all trades.
My most used gun is the Parabellum. I like it because it's extremely good and dangerous, but still feels rewarding to get kills with due to the insane amount of recoil on it. Especially getting kills on people who are behind cover, and not very exposed, or people at range, without using a bipod, just feels rewarding to me.
The Parabellum is my most used gun, but oddly enough I've never used a single gun enough to get over 3,500 kills with. I use everything in the game. I had a service star with mostly every weapon in Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4, including vehicles. I used every mostly every gun. I can't find satisfaction in using one gun for a long time. Especially not being bothered to get 100 stars with one, because I just can't be asked to use one gun for that long. I just don't see enjoyment in that.

Hellriegal is not the best. Smg 08 18 is the best up close. And Ribeyrolles is the most versatile and good for close to medium range

Nicholas Everytime I see someone with 100 stars with Hellriegel or Model 10 Hunter I start boiling inside. Not only are those weapons easiest to use, they are severely overused. According to statistics, of all shotguns, Model 10-A Hunter is used about 75% of time. Sometimes I think that once your reach 25 stars with the Hellriegel or Model 10 Hunter, you shouldn't be able to use it anymore.
I don't understand people who can use a gun so much that they get 100 service stars with it. I literally have 3 guns that have more than 2 service stars but the rest pretty much has 2 or 1 service star. I just find myself wanting variety in what gun I use.

Automatico is quite overpowered on PC. It doesn't require any skill at all. There's no need to aim down sights, you can just spray and people die at ranges that they shouldn't die so quickly. I can pick this stupid ass gun up and do three times better than most other guns. It's ridiculous.
The Riberylolles has only vertical recoil, so its recoil is better/harder....
ComicGuy tap fire works better with it. Only on longer ranges .
And the vertical recoil can be viewed as a good thing as you fire at center body mass, and it recoils up to the headshot finish. One of the funnest guns in the game.

60 ammo magazine with no overheating, EXTREMELY accurate, VERY high rate of fire, barely ANY recoil, fast reload speed, start with 3 drum mags adding up to 180 bullets. There are no downsides to this weapon, only upsides. At least with the Automagical your magazine is much smaller and the weapon spread much higher. I've played BF1 for hundreds and hundreds of hours and can only conclude this weapon needs to be nerfed sooner rather than later. I mean this weapon pretty much falls into the LMG category with all the SMG benefits. I'm not salty about it, just realistic. I know a lot of people feel the same way about this weapon.

Noobriegel on PS4 is just ridiculous, it really needs either less ammo or to overheat a lot faster than it does. Being able to kill 3-4 enemies that easy is just broken

Most popular =/= best. The Hellriegel is definitely not the best. It's just easy to use, which is why the average players gravitate towards it. Good players shouldn't have a problem dealing with Hellriegel users due to the MP 18 and Ribeyrolles having superior accuracy and the Automatico having a faster TTK up close. After the patch it's potential DPS will drop down the list. A 4HK 550 rpm MP 18 kills faster than a 5HK 650 rpm Hellriegel. After you add it's worse ranged effectiveness on top of that there really won't be much of a reason to use the Hellriegel except for it's 60 rounds magazine, which isn't worth it in my opinion. The MP 18 reloads in 2.1 seconds as long as you don't dump the entire magazine. Just make use of cover WHICH IS ALL OVER THE PLACE.

The thing is it is required to have some sort of aim assist on consoles. Games without it play absolutely terrible. A lot of PS2 games had that problem.
I do not play on console but I heard that on BF1, it uses snap aim as aim assist. I think using sticky aim is a much better way of assisting the player while not feeling too unfair.
Jamesss Aim assist is kind of necessary. As someone who has tens of thousands of hours using a controller (11 years), I've only just started to be able to play without aim assist on a controller, but recently moved to PC.

Jamesss Yeah, I do agree that the snap aim is a strange choice that is basically an aimbot, but there are other methods of aim assist that still achieve the same goal of making the game fun while still rewarding skill. Hal 4 and 5 actually did this very well. They didn't have snap aim but rather a sort of guided aim. It basically waited until your cursor was really close the the target and then basically did the last bit of fine tuning. If you wanted a headshot, you still had to be accurate. It never snapped but just gently guided.

I have 30 service stars with the Hellriegel on console. Do I regret using it for so long? No. However, it just becomes too easy. The Hellriegel has assault-rifle accuracy for an SMG, and with 60 rounds to boot, like Westie said: "it's just an absolute bullet-hose." I can massacre people in a swath of bullets with this thing, but it just doesn't feel rewarding anymore. It's the same with the Model-10 Hunter. I only have I think 8 or 10 stars with it, but I'd rather use the Double-Barrel (1900) since the kills with it feel more rewarding. The Hellriegel I can tolerate having around because it does have a niche in this game. However, the 10-A hunter is the true mistake of Battlefield 1. The slug variant would have been enough, but any shotgun that is not a slug shooter, should not have that much range potential.
The Hellriegel 1915 (or as I call it, the Evil Magic) is overrated. I still firmly believe the MP18 Trench is the best smg. I have no other weapon (SMGs included) that comes even close to the +800 kills I have with it. The hip fire is obviously very good, but ironically enough I almost never use it. I find it has extremely good ADS stability and accuracy for trench variant, and thats how I've always used it. The Ribeyrolles is good too though.
MY BABY! THE RIBEYE MADE IT!!! That weapon is SOOOO underrated. It's my most used Assault weapon (not counting shottys) by far. If you overlooked it and are reading this, USE IT. You will not regret. Also due to my testing on CTE, the weapon's patch makes it even stronger, as Westie said.

For me its MP-18 Trench / Machinepistole M1912 / Ribeyrolles. I have a thing on not using overpowered weapons in all Battlefield games. I prefer using balanced or high risk/high reward weapons instead. And I have no problem being top of the scoreboard all the time and having kd of 3.4. I've seen soo many people with 100 autismatico and hellriegel stars who are absolute trash, and it makes me sad.
Medic Rifle is difficult to say which one is the best. Certain rifles perform better in certain circumstances, and with updates it changes things. For a long time Auto Loading model 8 was my go to, then the Fedorov came. The Farquaw-Hill is good when there is much open ground. Buy recent 2 weeks the medic rifles have felt weird, the Selbstadler 1916 os really shining right now. Complicated...

How was the selbalstlader m1916 so low on the poll? It's such a good weapon if you use 2.5 magnification on the marksman variation. Iron sights suck, but the scope is pretty good. You get a really good balance of range and CQ combat as long as you're not facing one of 3 things: an automatico, a shotgun, or just a plain really good player that can outplay the damage the selbalstlader can put out (2 body shot, or 3 if you get a leg shot if you can forgive the low-ish fire rate). If you play smart, you can easily take our squads of 4 or 5 people (I've done so consistently ever since I started using this weapon). The fedorov is the only competitor and it makes up for a mild lack of skill in CQ and medium range, but otherwise falls slightly behind, especially at longer distances. It also only has iron sights I believe, which is a big turn-off. I usually end up with the highest amount of kills and revives with this weapon, but my heals lag behind as I use them for myself most of the time since I play really aggressively.
For medic, RSC 1917 gets my vote. 2nd and third would be the Selbstlader 1906 and the Farquhar-Hill. The General Liu I like as well but I need to sharpen my handling with it. I enjoyed using the Federov when it came out but the RSC is still so much better and more satisfying to use. Two shots, next.
MP18 is best smg. I've wrecked people with hellriegels. It's the best gun in most overall situations. You can reach out with burst fire and surprise snipers. Go full auto in a room full of people. It's so satisfying to kill with this gun it's my best assault weapon with over 1500 kills. I haven't played alot since the first 3 months btw. Got to lvl 86 in a couple weeks. Got bored and went to bf4.
I seriously don't understand the serious hate behind the hellreigal on PC, the only times i've ever gotten pissed towards someone after being killed by it is people that are really bad, have terrible 5% accuracy etc but still get the kill due to the large amount of bullets in the clip. It's just such an avg gun with a lot of bullets, avg RPM, avg recoil, avg dmg I think people getting mad and claiming OP is more placebo than anything atm. I am really happy my Ribeyrolles got some love, its ok in close quarters only really gets wrecked by automatico or shotguns but far superior to the other smgs/assault weapons at mid range enough where you aren't just restricted to fighting in close quarters 100% of the time. Also minor detail you forgot to mention +Westie the ribeyrolles does slightly more dmg at range (minimum damage) than the other smgs.
What nonsense! Every class has it's Hellriegel, Farquhar Hill and Federov is just as powerful in the medic class. Parabellum in the support kit and don't even get me started on snipers. The Hellriegel has it's draw backs like every other weapon, Automatico vs Hellriegel in close quarters, the Automatico wins every time.
I refuse to use the Hellriegel (on Xbox) as a matter of principle. It is just playing the game on easy mode. I mean, 60 round mag, super fast fire rate, practically no recoil, laser-beam hipfire, and comparable BTK to other SMGs. It’s got practically no weaknesses. It ruins the balance of this game.

It sounds like people voted to put it on there because of the new patch coming out and thinking, “Well, it’s probably going to be a lot better now. It’s gonna beat a lot more. Number 2.”
My favourite SMG is the M1917 Trench Carbine. It is great for when you have a large group of enemy that you have snuck up on as you can kill up to 10 people without having to reload (in theory, in practice it is usually 4-6 people max before you have to reload). It isn't too bad at range but it does take quite a few bullets to kill that pesky medic or sniper.
I honestly never liked using the Hellriegel. For one, it overheats and that would be enough. Second, I believe in a fair fight and the Hellriegel, plus the Automatico, don't bring that. The MP18 Trench has been with me ever since I started playing and I think it's the most fair SMG.
I believe that the SMG 08/18 is the most underrated SMG in Bf1. The recoil is extremely low and its 80 round drum magazine is just fantastic for playing Operations or some Conquest maps.
The 1917 Trench carbine is a new love. Accuracy is just crazy. Can fire at 150m and kill someone. Might take 15 rounds because it's a pistol cartridge but you got 41 of them bad boys.
I’ve already mastered the automáticos fire rate, 2 kills guaranteed in 1 clip,
3 kills max due to the lack of ammo and this is long range fight at 20 to 30m.

Why is there such a major difference between the i56600k and the i75820k. Do you set your priority for this game in task manager to high, because that is what I have to do with my 6600k that i overclocked to 4.2ghz.
Heilregals.... welll.... the clip is so big you could essentially take out 4 ppl at once in close quarters. I think the Automatico isn't quite as OP simply cause you don't have the amount of ammo and therefore have to plan it out if there's more than two ppl where you're about to assault. Ribey has a place in my heart. It just feels good :)
I just love playing sniper and from 100m away I'm still getting outclassed by the Hellriegel good job DICE very good

The hellriegel has been unbalanced from the start and never had any real attempt to balance it. Other weapons in game that had far worse stats have been nurfed (fixed) and tweeked even the poor DPS of the 1903 experimental was made even worse in the name of balance but the hellriegel nothing of substance has ever been done because why? and before anyone goes on about how the hellriegel is fine yes it is an amazing weapon BUT any weapon that consistently accounts for over 45% of all usage and kills is by definition unbalanced and has been since launch
I've played BF1 on console since about March 2017. I don't think the reason the Hellriegel is so popular is because of the snap aim; I think it was because of easy-to-control recoil. It is a lot harder to aim and control recoil on controller, so the Hellriegel's lack of recoil made it very easy to use.
I just hate the Helriegel because it practically didn't exist. I think only two were ever made by the Austro-Hungarians, and they both bombed the weapons tests. We don't even have any evidence of them aside from like 4 pictures of them not firing.
