The Hellriegel isn't the best. You're assuming that every shot always lands and that magically spread, recoil and muzzle velocity aren't a factor. Actually look at the weapon stats beyond rate of fire and magazine capacity on Symthic's website. It's really annoying seeing all these new players that don't understand that they're not playing CoD and that all their guns are magically always accurate.

After playing on the CTE I found that I was struggling with guns that I have 500+ kills with on the base game thanks to the recoil changes. I can't say I enjoy the fact that I now have to relearn how to play this late in the game's development cycle even if it is for the better.
Maybe this will give medics a higher competitive edge against close to mid range engagements. This will finally give medics a real chance to support their team with heals and revives. Medics get no love until now!
This is bullshit. It's already broken as fuck in a 25m engagement range. You can have a good 2 second jump on someone, land all your shots and still get fucked by this gun. I think it needs a slight nerf in either its damage, or recoil.

I just realized that the Huot doesn't have the vertical grip on it anymore. Thank god, cause that was annoying when the soldier held it by the drum magazine
Jesus you were so good with that double barrel I thought it was the one with the slug. The double barrel slug shotgun is very fun to use and feels great when you get a kill.
Great changes. The change I would like to see is when you are working on a particular medal and you cannot earn that medal in the allotted time, whatever progress you have towards a worked on medal is saved, so when you get back to working on that medal, you pick up where you left off instead of starting over in the beginning of the medal.

I've been a Battlefield fan since it first came to console with Bad Company 1, but I grew annoyed with the franchise after Hardline and BF1. I felt that BF1 had grown much to casual and needed serious balancing, and having played many hours in the past couple days, it seems to have gotten just what it needed. Thank you for FINALLY doing what should have been done months ago, DICE. Just please don't wait so long to fix Battlefield 2018 (because we all know it's going to need help too...).

I think that it's great the Developers are still tweaking this game this late in its life cycle. Especially since there's rumors of a new game or games being made for 2018. This weapon balancing update seems like it will be a breath of fresh air to what I personally beleive has become a somewhat stagnant game. Really excited for this new patch, it does sound very very much like the big spring patch we had towards the end of bf4's life. That change also adjusted weapons to separate the distances and they were used at and to stop players picking the same 5 guns all the time
For Apocalypse I want the German Civil War! If u don’t know what this is, it’s a civil war fought by four factions. The Bavarian Communist Party, The Nazi Party, the Royalist German Party, and The Democratic Weimar Republic. I really want to see this in the game. This occurred in 1918-1919

hey westie, i wanted to tell you about an interesting weapon you could make a videos about: the thorneycroft bullpup rifle: it’s a bullpup sniper rifle which was built in 1901 i believe, and although it has never been used in combat i think it would make a very interesting and unique weapon for battlefield 1 to add in the apocalypse dlc. if you want to see how it looks, forgotten weapons made a video on it. hope you read this!

This is my first Battlefield. I've been COD for the past 10 years. Honestly, I had a blast. It was a hell of a learning curve but it didn't take long. I'm MAX rank as of a few weeks ago. I'm always in the top 3 of the team. I do wish I got started with BF4, maybe i'll give it a try someday. So as an official Convert, i'm happy with leaving COD. Two years running and I think i'll stick with BF for the remainder of the year.
The January patch or as the few long suffering aggressive scouts refer to it; the end of their play style that was already at a serve disadvantage patch. Now they have to land that sweet spot or head shot first time every time as they’ll never get a second shot off or the time to even switch to secondary. Dice should maybe drop the iron-sighted rifles minimum sweet spots by 10-30m giving some chance to take someone out close range.
I'd love to see some actual variation in melee weapons. The hatchet is by far the most useful heavy melee, and all the light and medium weapons are identical.
They should add a feature to buy or unlock certain skins for weapons separate from community missions and/or exchange. I'm a bit of a completionist so since when DICE added the full list of skins and such, I've wanted to collect them all but it's hard to get some skins/tags that are impossible to collect due to them not being in revisions or never having any opportunity to even earn them.
Sitting on Ceilings oh my God I can't believe I forgot about that, as soon as I heard that statement I realized I learned that along time ago in class, and now that I think about it it might be possible to add them if it fits the theme

The tripwire bomb patch wont affect me because i would rather place my tripwire at two diffrent entrances rather then just one and if there is only one entrance to my hideout i will place a tripwire bomb further down towards the entrances
I have a Scout build that I almost only use on Fort De Vaux using the M1903 Experimental, gas grenades, gas trip mines (with Perimeter Defense)...it is effective although my trigger finger gets pretty tired.
I was hoping when you mentioned AT mines that they were going to make it so you cannot mine vehicle spawn points, there is nothing worse then spawning in with a much needed tank only to explode before game has time to fully spawn you in. Something that I run into lately is people who are using sniper variants of the bolt action rifles who are not displaying any sort of scope glint even as they shoot you from several hundred metres away. The high powered scopes give a massive advantage at long range and scope glint is supposed to be the balance for that but when you can avoid having scope glint at all then it breaks the whole situation. I don't know if they are using aimbots (i.e. ignoring the need to scope up in the first place), some sort of ADS/shoot macro or if it is the game glitching but it needs to be looked into.
The whole idea of diffrent weapons is a diffrent feeling to the gun and its own way of handling it. Making all of the guns the same thing is just gonna ruin the game.

They won't. You still die in an ass load of shots. How does that equate to dying immediately? Oh wait, you're probably one of those guys that just runs into a group of guys without using cover, gets widdled down to low health then dies as soon as that group notices you and then bitches about how the cavalry class has no armor, lol.
I think you should be able to swap out the penderton device to a normal bolt action turning the experimental to a normal bolt action of the 1903. This was the whole reason of the device to allow a soldier to convert to s fast fire 9mm instead of the 5 round rifle clip. That would make the 1903 experimental a new life as per its intended use.
They should add a feature that makes your hitmarker turn different shades of colors or different colors of your choice for each shot hit in a sequence.
This is a big step in a good direction. One thing I noticed that makes me wonder. LMGs are essentially getting nerfed at close range, making it even harder to get and stay on objective. Is the scoring system going to change, in order to reflect that? As it stands, playing Support as intended nets very little score.
Tip that basically no one will see #1 put dynamite on the at mines, that will allow for at max three kills without having to get more, just for those who didn't know
So in my point of view the LMG patch will increase the camping time of the support class GREAT, the only thing that it needed to be tweaked about the LMGs was the shots to kill ratio and maybe add some recoil to balance them.
So the range of the Hellreigel has remained more or less the same while the damage is being boosted? The vertical recoil is being increased; however, is this cancelled out by retaining the Storm variant modifiers?
awtomat should have been ignored for the buff. If awtomat becomes even more accurate, we will not stop seeing exactly two kinds of medics: the ones which play the awtomat, and the ones which play the faquhar-hill.
As a support player it makes me nervous hearing all the changes coming to the weapons on that class. I'm just hoping these changes won't hurt as much as it sounds.

It would be nice if the hellreigle would jam from time to time as a way to balance it. I hate running into a squad all using hellreigles against my bolt action rifle.
So long as Dice remember they did all this and take it to BF2018 then it's all good. they did loads to bf4 like resolving headglitching and i don't know if it's how the kill cam works or if they just forgot, but it feels like they removed it in bf1
Hi Westie! Are these patch changes specifically for the PC or are they coming to the console as well? These would improve the PC experience I'm sure. Playing this game on console is a different experience as in my opinion the aiming is not as precise as PC. If these patch changes do go to the consoles it will change gameplay to an extent. I'd be interested in improvements to some of the semi auto handguns like more damage for the C96 for example and 1903 SMLE, up the accuracy of the revolvers, and the increased damage to the semi auto shotguns, which no one is using when I'm playing. Many players are using the newer weapons like the Federov, Farquhar, Perino etc while many players are still grinding using the crappy weapons to unlock. Medics are sniping constantly. SMG's aren't used much especially the automatico unless they are trying to unlock a weapon. I see the Hellriegel sometimes. SMG's are not used much compared to a year ago. Shotgun use is rare. You might see the M97 back bored and rarely the A 10 Hunter. I see medics, support and scouts everywhere. The assaults are throwing grenades constantly. The elite classes are snatched up before you can get to the location. I'd like a plane dogfight mode so I can actually get into a plane. The weapon I want to use is the A 10 slug, but that's a challenge with bullets flying everywhere. This is what I experience when I play on console. Hopefully, we get an elite class that can challenge the Trench class like a Jack Churchhill class. That would rock. I'm looking forward to more maps, weapons, and vehicles. Also, giving the scout a primary weapon where they can rush aggressively would keep them with the squad. Other than that they are all in the hills. I see them rushing with the Mars automatic and I don't blame them. If DICE adds a new weapon like the Model 1886 lever-action rifles chambered in 45-90 that would cool as well.

And the minimum damage is now 27 so it's a 4 shots kill at long range.

Now they have to land that sweet spot or head shot first time every time as they’ll never get a second shot off or the time to even switch to secondary. Dice should maybe drop the iron-sighted rifles minimum sweet spots by 10-30m giving some chance to take someone out close range.

The Big Boi every weapon is better in close/medium range so it will be more difficult for the agressive sniper

I'd love to see some actual variation in melee weapons. The hatchet is by far the most useful heavy melee, and all the light and medium weapons are identical.

They should add a feature to buy or unlock certain skins for weapons separate from community missions and/or exchange. I'm a bit of a completionist so since when DICE added the full list of skins and such, I've wanted to collect them all but it's hard to get some skins/tags that are impossible to collect due to them not being in revisions or never having any opportunity to even earn them.

The tripwire bomb patch wont affect me because i would rather place my tripwire at two diffrent entrances rather then just one and if there is only one entrance to my hideout i will place a tripwire bomb further down towards the entrances

I have a Scout build that I almost only use on Fort De Vaux using the M1903 Experimental, gas grenades, gas trip mines (with Perimeter Defense)...it is effective although my trigger finger gets pretty tired.

I was hoping when you mentioned AT mines that they were going to make it so you cannot mine vehicle spawn points, there is nothing worse then spawning in with a much needed tank only to explode before game has time to fully spawn you in.
Something that I run into lately is people who are using sniper variants of the bolt action rifles who are not displaying any sort of scope glint even as they shoot you from several hundred metres away. The high powered scopes give a massive advantage at long range and scope glint is supposed to be the balance for that but when you can avoid having scope glint at all then it breaks the whole situation. I don't know if they are using aimbots (i.e. ignoring the need to scope up in the first place), some sort of ADS/shoot macro or if it is the game glitching but it needs to be looked into.
The whole idea of diffrent weapons is a diffrent feeling to the gun and its own way of handling it. Making all of the guns the same thing is just gonna ruin the game.

One can only hope. Calvary is easily the most OP thing in the game lol. I've seen them take direct hits from tanks and keep going.
I think you should be able to swap out the penderton device to a normal bolt action turning the experimental to a normal bolt action of the 1903. This was the whole reason of the device to allow a soldier to convert to s fast fire 9mm instead of the 5 round rifle clip. That would make the 1903 experimental a new life as per its intended use.

This is a big step in a good direction. One thing I noticed that makes me wonder. LMGs are essentially getting nerfed at close range, making it even harder to get and stay on objective. Is the scoring system going to change, in order to reflect that? As it stands, playing Support as intended nets very little score.

Because I view the patch as being extremely detremental to scout class which is what I main.

So in my point of view the LMG patch will increase the camping time of the support class GREAT, the only thing that it needed to be tweaked about the LMGs was the shots to kill ratio and maybe add some recoil to balance them.

awtomat should have been ignored for the buff. If awtomat becomes even more accurate, we will not stop seeing exactly two kinds of medics:
the ones which play the awtomat,
and the ones which play the faquhar-hill.

It would be nice if the hellreigle would jam from time to time as a way to balance it. I hate running into a squad all using hellreigles against my bolt action rifle.
So long as Dice remember they did all this and take it to BF2018 then it's all good. they did loads to bf4 like resolving headglitching and i don't know if it's how the kill cam works or if they just forgot, but it feels like they removed it in bf1

Hi Westie! Are these patch changes specifically for the PC or are they coming to the console as well? These would improve the PC experience I'm sure. Playing this game on console is a different experience as in my opinion the aiming is not as precise as PC. If these patch changes do go to the consoles it will change gameplay to an extent. I'd be interested in improvements to some of the semi auto handguns like more damage for the C96 for example and 1903 SMLE, up the accuracy of the revolvers, and the increased damage to the semi auto shotguns, which no one is using when I'm playing. Many players are using the newer weapons like the Federov, Farquhar, Perino etc while many players are still grinding using the crappy weapons to unlock. Medics are sniping constantly. SMG's aren't used much especially the automatico unless they are trying to unlock a weapon. I see the Hellriegel sometimes. SMG's are not used much compared to a year ago. Shotgun use is rare. You might see the M97 back bored and rarely the A 10 Hunter. I see medics, support and scouts everywhere. The assaults are throwing grenades constantly. The elite classes are snatched up before you can get to the location. I'd like a plane dogfight mode so I can actually get into a plane. The weapon I want to use is the A 10 slug, but that's a challenge with bullets flying everywhere. This is what I experience when I play on console. Hopefully, we get an elite class that can challenge the Trench class like a Jack Churchhill class. That would rock. I'm looking forward to more maps, weapons, and vehicles. Also, giving the scout a primary weapon where they can rush aggressively would keep them with the squad. Other than that they are all in the hills. I see them rushing with the Mars automatic and I don't blame them. If DICE adds a new weapon like the Model 1886 lever-action rifles chambered in 45-90 that would cool as well.
