    Looked like a great day to be out on the river. I really never tossed any big baits, I guess a 5" crank bait is the biggest I've ever but I think it would be fun to toss around a big bass swim bait.

    • @NASPELTZ
      @NASPELTZ  2 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for watching, it sure was a nice day out there, can’t beat a calm morning on the river. I’d say a 5 inch crank is pretty big, you should try some big lures in general, you would be surprised how fast you will break your personal best bass, pike, musky, or even walleye while throwing big swimbaits and glides. I’ve seen lots of 26-28 inch walleye on the river being caught on big musky glides!

    Im not fishing right now cause of hip arthritis, but if I ever get back into fishing, I'm gonna try and make sure to know what fish your allowed to keep, catch and release goes against my personal acceptance, what is the use in fishing if your not taking any freezer meat home

    Great channel !!!! Hey small question, do small mouth go after large mouth lures? Have 14 large mouth this season totaling in at 6 or 7 pounds lol. Still fun time. I oiled live to get in some pike or musky

    • @NASPELTZ
      @NASPELTZ  2 месяца назад +1

      I’ve caught a LOT of 4-5 pound smallies on big baits, I actually had a guy threaten to call the dnr (conservative officers) on me earlier this year for using a 8 inch glide for smallmouth because he didn’t believe I was fishing them for smallmouth and thought I was fishing musky (out of season) showed him some pictures of the big smallies I had caught on it and he shut right up haha. Earlier this year I fished musky opener on Mille lacs and had on a 6-7 pound smallie with a double 8 blade, only had my musky net and got him in the net but he jumped out while I was trying to bring the net up. If you want to catch big smallies on big baits, you have to use skinny lures, you have a better chance of catching a smallie on a 9 inch glide that is super skinny than a 5 inch one that is fat, they go after skinny baits a lot more then fat ones. And the hook up with a bait that is fat is terrible, if they can’t get it in their mouth they won’t stay on usually

      @@NASPELTZ that’s great information, I thank you . Firm believer of minding my own business unless it’s really far out there. I do have some rapalas. That are larger and skinny . The other day I was fishing at the damn in mchenry Illinois, got yelled at for standing to close I guess? Was standing on a rock 6 inches off the shore. Eh people.. thanks for all your videos we appreciate them so much.

    I’ve been fishing for pike with swimbaits to recently and I’ve been snapping off on my nice lures what line should I be using ?? I don’t wanna use a steel leader cause I never get bits on it and I think it makes the action on my swimbait not as good
