That missing VW emblem might be caught between the exhaust manifold and the heat shield. (Been there ... done that ... glued mine back on.)

Interesting, this appears to be an imported American market Passat. You can tell by the left hand drive/MPH configuration, and the catalyst information under the hood
I wish we could import cars newer than 25 years to the US, we could have so many cool European cars that don't exist there.

Engine sounds like old Massey Ferguson :D ...and coolant level has dropped way under min - something wrong in it.

+Roberto Brito Falero Yes ! This is a US version of the Passat ! You can notice that the speedometer is graduated in miles ! And, in the motor compartment, you can see an identification label indicating that the car conforms the 1999 US regulations for pollution. Normally, the car should be fitted with taillights.

The US and European version are both built in Germany but the US spec Jetta (Bora) was built in Puebla México
