Wow. I had never thought of benefiting from boredom. You're so right. Instead of instantly turning to TV, reading, or (ahem) social media or something, I'll leave myself a few minutes to be bored. I can very much imagine feeling motivated to DO something. Thank you.
michelle, another banger! i so wish you were in my life BEFORE i retired. that said, my young adult children benefit from the information you give me. i share your ideas with them--i ALWAYS credit you; & i often times share your videos with them. you are SO FAR ahead of the game.
I SOOOO need this rn!!! I recently achieved a significant life goal. I’ve noticed that I’m struggling to find motivation now that there’s no HUGE goal to work towards.
Congratulations on achieving your goal ❤ I imagine it would have taken a huge amount of effort and work to achieve it! Have you taken some time to rest / reset? X
I really love the idea of changing "have to"s into "choose to"s. Not only does this help with motivation, but on those days when not everything can get done, it helps remove the guilt that sometimes comes with prioritizing tasks. Plus it gives clarity--why am I even doing this? Is it going to truly benefit me? Another great video, Michelle!
The 'should' part is sooo me! I recently quit my job and now have much free time. But I don't really want to do anything I was planning to do during my time off, because now it feels like 'should'! Like if I am not busy with external tasks, I HAVE to keep myself busy by myself?? Definitely need to ingrain the thought that it is up to my own choice.
I call it productive procrastination haha, whenever I have a big task that needs doing I suddenly have motivation to clean, do laundry, cook a meal. However, it is important to make them limited tasks, if you say 'clean the house' that has no end point! but once you've achieved a few tasks in the morning you usually feel more capable and more interested in completing the procrastinated task, too.
Literally, for the last hour I have been stalling about getting the laundry out of the dryer that's downstairs. An entire hour. And then your video popped up. OMG! Lol!
Hey muchelleb, really nice video ! I was wondering if I could help you with Best Quality Editing in your videos better than your Editor with good pricing and also make a highly engaging Thumbnail which will help your videos to reach to a wider audience ? Pls let me know what do you think ?
So so so sorry. I haven’t had your experience so I can only offer what I know; I’ve had depressive episodes. If trying to get something done, I’ve had to learn that half-assing it is ok, good even. Do it sad, do it sleepy, do it feeling grubby. Going through the motions can be ok. Do the bare minimum. You don’t actually have to fold clothes, they just technically have to be cleaned. You don’t have to make your hair nice to go out. Etc. Also, you are worthy regardless of what you do or do not accomplish. This was a big one for me to learn to believe. Love.

Changing a task from a “should” into a choice ❤ that is so empowering!

In the words of Katya "If you have something to do, do something else"
My friend died. I could really use a video on how to keep moving forward toward your goals through depression if you’ve ever experienced it 😢
so sorry for your loss 💛
