A mild hybrid system for increased power would have been a welcomed addition for this new in-line 4 and therefore is a missed opportunity by VW in order to provide a more spirited driving experience for this quite hefty vehicle. It's already outpowered by the competition.🙄
The interior is vastly improved and looks great now.

Hello everyone, I have a 2021 vw atlas, nice and spacious. that's all. only a few months the check engine came out, if there is 20x it came back to Volkswagen dealers here in mississauga canada. still under repair. hazt! then there is also a recall. and last time I searched about vw. That's Volkswagen's weakness. engine. So, they changed the engine this 2024.
hopefully they will solve the weakness of the Volkswagen engine.

cars for the European market, especially from mainstream brands like Toyota or VW, did reduce the number of cylinders in their engines from V6 to I4 because in Europe and some Asian markets, the V6 has too high emissions and it will tax the car's emissions, so they downgrade from V6 to I4, America has a different emission policy, so American cars are not only big, but also have large cubic capacities and lots of cylinders.

You can tune that thing to put out massive power, very cheaply. It has 5 main bearings, and the main bearing caps are cross-bolted. U can push 500HP plus before doing anything to the lower end.

I have a 2018 Atlas SE w/Tech and I LOVE it. Have been holding out to see if the 23 or 24 would be a year for change. Got excited to see the 24 was the redesign and loved what I had heard and seen so far. Until I heard that the climate control is now part of the infotainment center and it touch control. You are now forced to take your eyes off of the road to adjust you climate and won't be able to do so by touch. The question is, can you make adjustments while the vehicle is in motion, or do you have to come to a complete stop. I know in my 2018 Tiguan SEL that I had and now my Atlas, you have to be non mobile to make any radio, phone, or menu adjustments. My wife's 2022 Tiguan SE has the touch climate controls and you have to take your eyes off of the road to try and make adjustments and it sux. VW needs to go back to tactile buttons and have ppl keep their eyes on the road.

Hard knobs are always more ergonomical that capacitive sliders, especially when looking at the road. As a smartphone analogy, why do the latest smartphones still have volume rockers instead of volume sliders? It's because it's more ergonomical.

Sadly, the Atlas does gives up the vast majority of its physical controls in exchange for touch-sensitive ones which are huge complaints and I just can't get over the front end reminding me of a Ford Expedition. Doesn't really compare to the likes of the CX-90 or even the Toyota Grand Highlander.. the VW Atlas is the kid you pick last in high school gym glass for dodge ball...this feels more like VWs one last ditch effort to increase the sales # before they put the Atlas out to pasture....
