Crew office is on north side of the tracks here (Benton St) and TRTS(filmer) is on the Southside of the tracks. The train working the yard has them blocked so the crew van brought the fresh crew around so that they wouldn't be delayed.
What was funny is the office is just on the other side of the train that was working the yard but the shuttle had too drive around that train which was about 2 miles long so it had to drive 3 miles to get around it when they were about 500 feet from the office.
my uncle works for a waste water plant that is next to a large rail system we railfan there alot, union pacific had a crew change there its basically in the middle of the road
I see crossings blocked here in central Pa.once in awhile. Not for a crew change though. They block the crossing because they are waiting for distance from a unit in front of them. Gets pretty busy here sometimes on a good day i can capture 6 or 7 units or more in 3 to 4 hours.
Questions: Why do the trains move so slowly after a crew change? And what kind of a horn signal is the engineer sounding? Six or seven or more short blasts don't stand for anything I'm aware of.
When they start off they have too go slow so they don't rip apart it's called stretching the train and they go slow because it's a lot of weight too get rolling. Now the Horn sounds very when coming up to a single to when they are just starting out from a stop or rolling backwards from a stop. Two quick blasts when starting out forward and three quick blasts when backing up.
I hope they decide to leave two Man crews, Engineer and Conductor instead of one Man crews, I think there saying two Man crews are the only way to go, we're do the Triple Crown trains originate and terminate!🛤🚂👍
Nice video
Thank you LostDepot
I didn't think that the roadrailer even ran anymore. Nice video Mr. Spiker.😇👍👌
Thank you John. The NS 255 and 256 are the last two Roadrailers running the rails in the country.
Good video
Thank you Dan

You are correct 35N cleared the loading platform before 255 could clear the yard after the crew change. I
Actually since the roadrailer is just that I guess the crew can be equally flexible changing on the Rock ballast or on the paved Road

Did you catch it on video? That would have been awesome to see.

Sometimes we'll have two or three trains come in to Peru all for a crew change at the same time.
