Spirit damage and effects aren’t effects from a spirit. They’re the new equivalent of alignment damage as well as positive/negative. So if a say demon whose claws dealt evil damage hit you that’d now be dealing sanctified unholy spirit damage
Clarification! The animist starts with 2 focus points. So they’ll have 3 points by level 4.
Came here to say this. Glad someone did
This sounds a lot like they started with shaman from 4E but then decided to pile "ALL THE THINGS!" onto it. Speaking of the "wisdom martial" class you wished for, read up on seeker from 4E. Basically a ranger using wis for damage and accuracy (no need for dex, though some had it secondary), and their ranged attacks had all kinds of spell-like effects tagged onto it.
when I see the Animist, I just see a renamed version of PF1's Shaman. Except that the Apparition spells work like Cleric Domain spells in DnD 5e.
I was really interested in the Binder class back in DnD 3.5e, but never got to play it- this class is looking heavily inspired by it, at least in terms of the themes.
Level 20 feat with elementalist dual class... become THE Avatar
Personally, I feel that this class needs some balance changes. I have been waiting for a class like this for years as I was not able to play Medium in 1e, and spent very little time with Shaman as well before my group moved to 2e. 1) Where I like the Sage thematically, the Channeler generally seems much more useful. Something has to change here, like turning it into a reaction with some type of bonus to something even if the triggering effect is not a compulsion. 2) This class may seem like it is stepping on other classes toes... that is because it is supposed to do that. Even with Channelers Stance, you don't get the full benefits of what Blood Magic would give to a Sorcerer which usually has a choice of how you can designate those spell level effects. Channelers Stance also only works when casting or sustaining an apparition spell or vessel spell; less than half their spell slots at best, where as the Sorcerer can use it with all spell slots.
got a caracter idea, animist sage, willing host background, Exorcist dedication =3 just an idea
If magus could be thematically a Wizard and a fighter, could this class be thematically a Druid and a cleric?
Imagine if your Cleric could choose 2 domains (up to 4 domains later on), but can cast all of those spells spontaneously with extra spell slots. And then you choose if you want to skip with 1 domain focus spell per combat or have the flexibility to swap your domain focus spell with 1 action. 2 of the apparitions are Primal (Custodian and Stalker), 2 are Occult (Witness and Imposter), and I argue the last 2 are Elemental (Arcane/Primal, which are Steward and Vanguard).
@@toodleselnoodos6738 is there one based on electricity? I'm trying to make an electricity kineticist and I'm struggling
@@Solrex_the_Sun_King Not yet, but electricity/air is mentioned by one of the devs during the live stream. Honestly, if you are looking for a focused class like that, then this one does not sound like the one for that.
@@Solrex_the_Sun_King Examplar might be what you are looking for. The Devs in their stream showcased a feature that lets you turn all your spirit damage into lightning damage. and a lot of the damage stuff of the Exemplar seems to be spirit damage.
@@josecruz8803 Agreed. I personally think that this is specifically meant for the Anti-Familiar Lesson/Sustainer Witches. Very strong focus spells, all sustained, and has an unlimited Cackle+Move (Sustaining Dance). Get to customize your "lessons/spells" everyday (while getting to use ALL of those spells) and swapping around your sustain spells as the needs fit.
1:25:00 This Eternal Guardian is "Buffy: the Vampire Slayer" as a feat. Where, whenever the current Slayer dies, a potential somewhere around the world becomes the new Slayer. But this isn't martial enough to fully play a "Slayer" from that franchise, so any other franchises that have something like that?
Isn't Monk a Wisdom based martial? or does PF2e distance itself so much from Wisdom based features for Monk, that you can't call it that anymore?
Everything else I have seen says that the Animist starts the game with 2 focus points at level 1
With apparition's possession, couldn't you cast a spell with 2 actions then use it? Since you haven't entered the (stance) yet?
I think you're mixing some things up.
If your subclass is Channeler, you get the Channeler's Stance for free. You want to use your Channeler's Stance first before casting a spell-slot spell so you can get that benefit.
The Sage subclass get's the Apparition's Possession action, which locks you out of your Animist spells for the rest of the turn. But the Sage after using Apparition's Possession can still cast their Apparition Spells or Vessel spells. There is a feat later on that gives benefits when you use Apparition's Possession which would be a reason why you'd want to use it first and then do your other stuff after.
They can't be good, they got rid of alignments
So, no alignments = everything bad?
@@neurolancer81 no that would imply that they're evil which is also gone
@@Renigma1000 They can be holy or unholy depending on the type of God they are tied to.
Just homerule alignments back into your campaign. But for an additional twist, use the Rifts ones instead.
I hope everyone realizes its a joke since, you know, a class can't be good if there is no good alignment
Sage feels like it's more aligned with the idea of a gith character, as they benefit more quickly from defensive expertise and get more damage mitigation. Sage seem more reliant on fighting against specific enemies though, for sure. The concept is cool, what brings it down for me is mostly the non-sustainable nature of Apparition possession, because the fantasy of being almost all the time inhabited by spirits is very cool.
Druid, cleric, and- what's the last wisdom caster, animist?
I was realy hoping for more casters akin to kenetiscist. Ive never felt so much disappointment lol
