I really really wish they made the effort to make them compatible with older, Apple Pencil 2-compatible iPads. The magnet layout is the same so idk why it still wouldn't work. Heck even the pencil tip has been the same since 2015. Sure, maybe not every feature would work, but still better than what we currently have.

The charging mechanism is completely different, so it can have room for the new camera position up top

The barrel roll unfortunately doesn’t work with my pencil pro and the 13" Air… I can spin the pencil all I want but the orientation remains the same.

Only works with certain tools. Pens and pencil tips are round. Try a flat brush like the highlighter.
