  • We received confirmation from community members that Poland's PZL Mielec has delivered another batch of five Sikorsky S-70i Black Hawk helicopters for the Philippine Air Force.
This was previously raised by some plane spotters in our community which were asking about the recent arrival of an Antonov An-124 Ruslan civilian strategic airlifter in the Philippines.
Further research with the help of community members found that the aircraft brought in a batch of S-70i Black Hawk helicopters.
Interesting part is that not all of the helicopters arrived as combat utility helicopters. Apparently 2 out of the 5 helicopters are bound for the 250th Presidential Airlift Wing of the Philippine Air Force, while the other 3 are standard combat utility helicopters bound for the 205th Tactical Helicopter Wing.
This is surprising since there was a previous SEPARATE plan to procure four VVIP helicopters under the planned "Command and Control Intermediate Medium Lift Helicopter" which are aimed to replace the three older Bell 412EP helicopters acquired during the early 1990s under the Ramos Administration.
Now we know why the C2 Intermediate Medium Lift Helicopter Acquisition Project was removed from the Re-Horizon 3 plan, is probably to covert 3 or 4 of the S-70i Black Hawk combat utility helicopters to "Command and Control" helicopters.
