WORTH IT?? Unsponsored review of the EGO POWER+ 56v MOWER, TRIMMER & BLOWER

- In this video, I take a look at the pros & cons of the EGO Power+ 56v Lawn Tools 'ecosystem', covering the Mower, the String Trimmer and the 530 CFM Blower.
I think you might be better off buying these from Home Depot if you have one near you, but here are some Amazon links if you want to check out the specs:

I've been with EGO since 2015. Perfection. Not touching anything else. Still on original 4Ah batteries. 9 tools total.
The carbon fiber version came with 5.0ah battery instead of the 2.5ah. The auto feed of the trimmer string is a massive improvement over any other type of loading system. I only needed to buy this trimmer because my brother "borrowed" mine. He did me a big favor by not returning it. The ease of loading trimmer line is well worth the $250.00. I was paying $60.00 to get my grass cut. The trimmer paid for itself quickly as did the mower, blower, hedge trimmer. Drinking the Kool-aid has a one season payback time. The EGO equipment is not cheap however it is well worth it. I purchased all of the generation I products when they first came out. THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO! : )
Lightweight is good and what did I use it for it’s a lawnmower ruclips.net/user/postUgkxTPN04aT-Qdjr_KS3ql7ng8wnU3wwsCqk also recommend Yes it is lightweight so hence not as robust as our old one. But if you take care it does the job really well.
Actually, I would not. hahaha I'm sure it's a TON. :P
ARE YOU SERIOUS, EGO?!?! Just for kicks today, I put one of my smaller 2.5Ah batteries in the mower to see if it'd be enough to mow my small backyard (takes ~15mins) since the usual mower battery is a monstrous 7.5Ah. Well, I finished the backyard and the battery was still going strong. So I put that battery in my trimmer and finished trimming AND edging the sidewalks on my corner lot...including my fence lines...and the battery still hadn't died. I can't believe it lasted through all of that. 15 mins of mowing + 15 mins of trimming. Crazy good.... Granted, the grass was completely dry and just high enough to need mowing, but still...this 56V system is fantastic.
Thanks for validating my purchases. Bought the same blower, mower, but the carbon fiber trimmer. Hefty price tag but not wanting to deal with combustion engines if possible. I started to regret buying batts with the blower and trimmer when starting to watch your video but later agreed with your logic because that was what I was originally thinking.
Have you had any of the batteries for over 2 years?
Have you dealt with EGO Power + customer service at all?
I was interested in the EGO mower but read the battery life may only be 2-3 years ($200-450 replacement cost). As well, this company seems to have a terrible customer service rating with the BBB, "F."
What do you think? Are these valid concerns?
@@ljens8485 well, I've had the mower for 2 full seasons now with no issues, so I've had no interaction with their customer service and can't say one way or the other. And no degradation in battery performance. I've only had the trimmer and blower for 1 season so far. But again, no issues as of yet.

Thanks for the feedback!
'Spose any investment has risk inherent. I'll definitely be considering your evaluation.
All the best!
@@ljens8485 my experience with customer service was beyond expectations. 3 years ago when I first purchased an EGO, I hit something and ruined the mower. They replaced it with no questions asked. Sent me a new before I sent it in.
To be honest, I really only got an EGO leafblower after seeing reviews from car detailers They use them to blow the water off of freshly washed cars and that is my intention. I might even blow some leaves in the fall.🙂
Yesterday, I bought the 650 cfm unit, model #6504. It was "on sale" so, I thought I should get one before the price goes up, given the current national and global situations.
Now, I'm hoping for spring to get here early so I can try it out.
THANK YOU for your review as it helped in my purchase.👍
Now that is a cool application that I hadn't thought of! I'm definitely going to try that, next time I wash my car.
@@ReeWrayOutdoors Put it on TURBO to blow all the water out of the mirrors, the door sills, etc.
Again, thanks for your help.👍
@@imdeplorable2241 yeah man, that's a great idea! I'm definitely doing it.
You can use it for a light coating of snow too if it like powder. Especially off cars, but surface too.
Just bought that exact mower this morning and it went through my weeds and grass like butter. Just one time did it boggle because it was filled with grass and weeds. New subscriber here.
Really appreciate your experience behind this review. It helped me take the leap, given that the big box hardware stores are fully on board with electric in 2021. Got the trimmer and blower because, despite being a Stihl fanboy, I'm tired of rising fuel costs, yanking to start, and winter storage prep. Thank you, I appreciate it. 💯💯💯
You won't regret it! And thanks for the kind words!
Thank you for your honest review! Am beyond pleased with the EGO tools I have been using for over three years and counting which include the 21" lawn mower, snow blower (being we live in Canada ehh), line trimmer (with self winding which is well worth it) and the the same leaf blower you demoed). All the benefits you touted are bang on and the biggest one most people are neglecting to mention, the environmental factor! NO CO2 emissions and the fact that the batteries are quick charge (in my case) which means you are not using any time at all charge them up. Thanks again for your review!
I just purchased a EGO trimmer and edger combo and am now contemplating replacing all my gas powered tools as well haha. The kool-aid is great!
yeah... Some might say it's addicting! haha
Very good informative video I never thought the day would come when battery operated lawn equipment would be half way decent well it’s here take it from a retired landscape maintenance owner I bought the mower and it is a beast we sold our large grass area home and left the new owners the mower buying a house in Texas and will purchase the whole line of the EGO products thanks again and keep up the good work
Sincerely THE BEST video on these tools I’ve seen to date. Thank you.
First Thanks for the Video! I agree with everything you said. If your on the fence about EGO, I'll throw in my 2 cents. I live in SW Florida and have been using EGO since February 2020. I cut and maintain about 1/2- 3/4 acre of my property with about 125 Areca Palms 190 ft driveway and an array of other Palms and landscape. I use my outdoor tools every week 12 months a year (8 months so far with EGO).
I have the Power Head System with most attachments including trimmer, pole saw, hedge trimmer, 18" Chain saw, etc... I also have the 650 cfm blower.(2) 5 ah batteries, got 1 with Chain saw, and 1 with the Blower. I trim for about 30 minutes and the battery still reads 5 bars. I throttle the trimmer 1/2 way on low speed and it's plenty of power to trim my whole yard. I have never used the 2 setting which is more power. I then blow for about 15-20 minutes with same battery (some Turbo) and still have 2 bars when I'm done. Both batteries work identical. I alternate them every week and charge them immediately when finished so they are stored full and I have no need for the rapid charger. Batteries work as good as the day I bought them.
I Love not having to mix gas, smell the fumes, replace parts and all the noise from the 2 strokes. I still have my gas tractor however, which I will keep. I need a riding tractor, so no battery powered mower yet that I trust ( eg. Ryobi Zero turn battery issues). EGO is working on one so maybe one day I will convert but here in Florida I have to store 100 gallons of gas in the summer for my generator (Hurricanes) so always have plenty of Petrol.
Buy everything at Home Depot or Amazon and register them. Careful not buy from a third party on Amazon. Do not buy from Ebay. EGO will not warranty. I will make a year review in Feb or March hopefully. Oh yeah, I have not changed the string in the trimmer as of yet so honestly, I see no need for the Powerload trimmer head for homeowners. I agree it's one more thing that can go break. I did change the string to the Echo .095 though since day one. Hope this helps someone.
Southeast Florida here. Thank you for the intel brother.
Great video!! Very informative and straight to the point. I just purchased a EGO leaf blower yesterday and I'm "blown away!!" I have never heard of EGO before and now I'm looking to buy the whole line up!
Yeah man. I'm still super happy with them. And I've since discovered that I can mow my entire front yard (about 35 mins runtime) even on the smaller 2.5Ah battery! Crazy.... zero complaints.
Got this same setup.. it’s awesome.. amazing how much easier yard work is with electric tools.
Thanks for the EGO review. I bought an EGO chain saw last spring and it worked out fine. This spring I plan on buying my first grass trimmer and I have decided to make it an EGO. NOW I can throw away my trusty broom! 😁 I'm beginning to feel like Tim the Toolman Taylor!
Arr arr arr! Haha yeah I've even started switching my dad over too. He now has the trimmer and blower and loves them.
I got rid of all my gas powered and corded item and went to the EGO system. Couldn't be happier. Plenty of power. Maintenance is a breeze. For those considering the system, the hedge trimmer works great as well. My next purchase will be the 18" chainsaw..
All of my lawn equipment is reaching end of life. Sounds like a good time to convert over to a battery powered system. Thanks for the concise review. One additional thing that people have said about the new Ego mower is the battery is rear facing so you can see the power indicator as you walk behind the mower. Though, the price point on it now in November 2020 is $649. Waiting on a sale before I buy in.
I got rid of my Stihl gas trimmer and bought the carbon fiber trimmer 3 years ago, I was tired of messing with the gas / oil mixes, I still really like ithe cordless trimmer, the auto rewind is awesome. Next I went ahead and bought the hedge trimmer, it cuts well but using the safety switch while trying to cut one handed in a joke. And sometimes, yes you do have to stretch out and reach things with one hand, they really need to redesign that trimmer interface. The 530cfm blower was next and I love it, beats the pants off my Husqvarna gas unit. I have three batteries now and I am happy with everything except that hedge trimmer.
Great review. I was already going to ditch my Homelite gas trimmer after this summer in lieu of a cordless version, but now after your in depth review, I am prob going to ditch my Dewalt cordless blower also and go with the trifecta EGO mower, weed eater, and blower set up. I have over half acre lot that my HL weed trimmer can’t keep up with due to the 6-7ft of max spool string length on top of can run through a full tank of fuel before I am done trimming the yard. It’s a hard sell to put my Lawnboy mower up for good that I have had since 1997 that still runs well but are sold on the lighter weight of the battery mower and the fact at the end of the season can just compact it down and stand it up against the garage wall. Happy grass cutting.
I don't think you'll regret the move. Maybe you can cash in on some Labor Day Sales at Lowe's in the next week or so!
I've enjoyed my ego products. I use the mower, blower and trimmer and they all work great. I just like the minimal upkeep
I got chainsaw a month ago when we had tree fall down...it’s freaking amazing! I’ve used enough gas powered 2 stroke BS tools over the years...I’m sick and tired of pain of starting them, upkeep, etc! Love it and I’m pumped to use mower, and getting a trimmer and I’m putting brush blade on it to take on thorny jungle🤙
Excellent review! I am tired of the gas trimmer problems and the noise they produce. I am getting the trimmer and blower right away.
EGO lawnmowers are the definitive GOAT of lithium battery powered electric mowers. Can’t speak of the other tools as mine are 40V Ryobi 14” chainsaw, 15” weed wacker & 525 cfm blower. Which I also loved and have owned for years. The EGO mower however, is new. I used it for one cut and can’t wait for another cut which is weird to think. I used a Lawnboy Silver Series with a 6.5 HP 2 stroke engine for 21 years. The EGO outperforms it! My EGO is the 2135SP. Awesome machine! 👍🏻✌🏻💙
Thanks for the great review. I was pretty much sold on the lawn mower but wanted to see if the trimmer and blower were worth it, first. I'm about to take my first sip of the Kool-Aid.
DOES EGO MAKE AN EDGER ? That's something we could all use !
Very thorough review of the ecosystem. I just bought the 2021 version of the string trimmer and plan to buy the mower next
I recently joined the cult myself thanks to a clearance sale at Home Depot. Hard to say no to 50% off. It’s my first self-propelled mower - I’ll never go back. I already had a set of Greenworks Pro 60v tools, but the mower’s 4ah battery never got through my 6,000-ish square foot lawn. The Ego had juice to spare.
These tools are very powerful!! First time I used the string trimmer, I came too close to the siding on my garage and tore a 5 inch gash on the corner of the siding.
Yeah - I've learned to be light on the trigger around my wire fence...
I just purchased the carbon shaft model of the Ego trimmer, and I can't say enough about what a beast this thing is! I've always owned the two-stroke type, and I was just hoping for an electric powered trimmer that would equal that. I was shocked at how much torque this thing has! My gas trimmer had crapped out several weeks ago, so the grass had gotten quite overgrown. This trimmer buzzed right through this thing in about half the time it would have taken with the gas-powered one. We have vines that can grow long, and in the past I would have to occasionally stop and unwind a vine that wrapped around the head. Not with this one. It was having none of it. It just ripped the vine to pieces. Another big plus of this thing is the self-winding string feature. Changing string is unbelievably easy. You just push the string through the eyelets on either side of the head and press a button. It automatically winds the string inside within a few seconds. The bump feature also works perfect. I just bump once and boom, the string advances and then hold on. It starts ripping into the grass.
Yep! It's definitely a beast of a trimmer.
I just bought the select cut xp myself. So powerful
Thank you for taking the time to make and post the video. Good info... just what I needed to see.
thank you ... just bought similar kit but it has a 4 Ahr battery ... and it was $230 i believe at ACE hardware ... i am looking forward to using it ...
Thanks for your honesty. I also have all the same equipment except I bought the select cut model. You are spot on the review. Thanks again.
I just got the top of the line EGO self- propelled and the back pack blower the lawnmower is AWESOME and the blower is ok not going to sell my 580 Husqvarna blower it's 5x stronger so I keep it for winter. I been useing a Echo 58v trimmer for about 10 years now it still works perfectly.
Great review. I already have good gasoline-powered lawn tools but I gotta admit these are compelling buys even for someone like me. BTW - I think you could use that leaf blower to propel yourself around on a bicycle or skateboard. If I get one of those I'm gonna try that.
haha! I should try that! Maybe use an umbrella as a sail...LOL
Just bought the trimmer and blower in a combo. That blower is really powerful.
Thanks for the video! I only get 8-10 minutes run time from trimmer, edger, or blower. Very disappointed! Called the company and was told by a lady that this 8 minutes time was normal. Your time was significantly longer. I wonder if my charger or battery is defective? Might call them again. Thanks, Marty
I love Ego products. I have the mower and blower. The trimmer was a bit bulky for my needs, but I'm getting the chainsaw soon!
Cool! Let us know how you like that when you get it!
I bought the range of ego garden tools largely because I was sold on the environmental advantages, including the noise benefits that a battery operated tool has over petrol tools.
I have had a number of breakdowns with these tools already after 3 months of use. The repairs have been tediously slow. I’ve had to get a replacement hedger from the store because the parts were held up in China with COVID. I’m going back to the petrol equipment. More reliable, more repairers should you need them fixed and easy to get spare parts. I would not waste your money on switching over to this equipment
Chris
I HATED this mower. Uneven cuts (and I had the select cut), clogging, always needed to be cleaned underneath, etc. Went back to gas.
Thanks for the great review. It is time to replace my gas mower and I’m a little on the fence to switch to battery. I think after hearing your review, I’ll go get one.
Thanks for your input. Very informative and timely as I am considering an EGO platform.
Thanks for the review. I currently own a fairly new Honda mower, so may not be replacing that anytime soon, but am in the market for a battery-powered edger. I currently have a battery trimmer and blower from Kobalt, but I'm probably going to go the EGO route on the edger, and gradually change over to all EGO tools. Reason being - you can use the same battery for all of them. I'm guessing an EGO snow blower is also in my future. The Kobalt tools I have are fantastic, but they use a 24v battery, which won't work on their edger or some of their other tools. Also like that EGO makes an edger that has an interchangeable head, so you can get a number of different tools and take up far less garage space. Time will tell if I'll have made the right decision.
The heads on the edger were the icing for me. Joining Team EGO next season!
@@rconn4501 I made the switch and also recently bought the cultivator. Lovin' the ego tools at this point. Time will tell how durable they are. Also have the snow blower in the garage waiting for the first blowable snow.
Very good review!! I have the same trimmer and blower but have the select cut mower with the 7.5ah battery. So far everything is working fantastically!!
Thank you sir!
Last month I bought the single stage snow blower, if you live in a place where you get snow, and you already have the ego system, I can't recommend it enough .
Good to know! I've been on the fence about that since we only get accumulating snow about 2x a year where I live.
Fantastic video. Very helpful as I'm shopping to upgrade my lawn tools.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! BTW - for kicks yesterday, I decided to try and mow my front lawn (usually takes about 40 mins) using just the small 2.5Ah battery...and it did the job without dying! Really continue to be impressed with this system....
Need to try that new select cut mower. Hear it’s pretty darn good.
If you do, let us know how it goes!
It’s sold out near me, had to pay some scalper $100 over regular price to get one.
I just got the blower too. The 650. Ego is great. I'm a fan boy now
Haven't stepped in to the e-Go quite yet although I am planning it. You may notice the electric bike in my picture. Yeah the plan is to replace the gas lawnmower when it has reached it's end of life with the e-Go mower and then incorporate the benefits of their 56v compatibility to the 48v 750w electric bike. Being able to pull my life off of petrol eventually is my ultimate goal and I see these power tool battery packs as giving an option to replace that trip to filling a gas can.
I've had that version of the EGO mower for a few years now, and while I enjoy it, I have to admit it does not cut as well as a good gas mower. Perhaps my lawn not being as smooth and more bumpy than normal plays into it, but that's my honest opinion. They have since come out with the 'Select Cut' that I hear cuts a lot better. I also have the carbon fiber trimmer with the auto-rewind and that has worked out okay.
By the way I have been drinking the Ego Koolaid to. I got the Carbon Shaft Trimmer, 24” Hedgetrimmer and 10” Pole Saw. My next purchase will be the edger attachment for the power head I got with the 10” Pole saw. I got three batteries and changers. Plus I am getting a 31” extension attachment for my 10” pole saw to.
Nice!
Really well done. Very comprehensive. The only critique I might have is that it would have been nice to see you actually use the tools. But thank you for the video and have a great day.
Agreed! I'm still figuring things out....and making videos that cover everything I want to cover and still be
Very well done, informative with no fluff. Consider me subbed!
Thanks for the kind words!
I got the select cut and I’m blown away with it. Love that mower compared to the fiskars reel mower I was using. I just got the trimmer and edger , now I’m looking into the 650cfm blower. Got rid of all my gas stuff. Yup I drank the cool aide lol.
P.S. Great Review and Audio . We all appreciate you !
Somewhat off topic. I like how you developed the 'set' for this video. Carefully framed with the garage door and brick margins.
Just bought the mower. Not self propelled. Can’t wait to use it. Now I think so want to replace my corded blower for an Ego one. So much easier to walk around and get stuff done.
As long as your yard is fairly flat, I doubt you'll even miss the self-propelled option. I only engage it on the small incline areas I have. The mower is so much lighter than a conventional gas mower!
I have the same EGO tools and I LOVE them great products I am really happy to get away from gas and the batteries interchange great system If you are on the fence go electric !
Right on!
I have a few ego tools as well. Problem will be when it's time to buy new batteries after 3 yrs. Not really saving money over the gas products imo.
Yeah, I really want to get away from the gas and oil. Tesla 5 for 1 might help me get there
I purchased the select cut and returned it after 1 mow. I prefer the previous self propelled version like yours way more. The ergonomics of the newer mower were horrible and I just absolutely hated it so I returned it. Newer doesn't always mean better
great video. i think you are correct. I am going to take the plunge and by them all.
There's a reason for so many accolades for the EGO string trimmer to be from males. I bought one after much research, put it together, went out there for 20 minutes. My arms trembled and still hurt a day later; I couldn't last any longer with it so took it back. It's not only very heavy, but very long-and although I'm 73, I'm in reasonable shape and taller than 5' 7". It's just not for women, imho. I exchanged it for the blower, which is easier for me to handle. Not saying EGO doesn't make good products: we love our self-propelled mower. But the trimmer is not for most women (and I bought the lighter battery, lighter shaft).
Thanks for contributing to the honest conversation! Sorry the trimmer seemed heavy to you. I have the aluminum shaft version (not the carbon fiber version, which is presumably a LITTLE lighter...maybe? Or maybe not since it also has the auto-winder on it). But it replaced a gas-powered Ryobi with interchangeable attachments. For me at least, it feels lighter (and/or better balanced) than the gas-powered Ryobi did, at least with the 2.5Ah battery. I have intermittent tendonitis in my elbows and I seem to have much less of an issue with the EGO trimmer and blower than I did with what I was using before. Some of that might be due to the dramatically lower vibration in the EGO tools as compared to the old ones. Not really sure. I just know it was a big improvement for me personally. :)
Glad it's not just me ... I'm a 5'7" male and find that the length is okay for trimming level areas but we have sloping areas to trim and I find it difficult to balance and maneuver on those surfaces.
@@robertgrande4512 They sell a shoulder strap that can carry the weight of the tool as you use it.
I love your content thank you so much for sharing!!!
Love my Ego select cut! Been making Vids on my lawn 🌱 and enjoying all the great products they have to offer! ♻️
What did I buy a mower for oh yeah to cut grass save your money ego mowers are trash
I’ve had my ego mower and blower over two years now. I bought the edger a year later and a few months ago, after a hurricane, I picked up the 18” chainsaw.
My experience is mostly positive, but I do have some solid complaints. The select cut mower seems to have a few design flaws. One is with the self propel. The back wheel slight lift up, tilting the mower forward, which causes a worse cut. Second is the batteries - they just die for no reason. I’ve had to replace two of them under warranty. And they are too expensive.
Missing grass like that is unacceptable. I've never had a mower do that except for an unsharp blade. I wonder if the Select Cut works better, as you mentioned.
Also, I don't want to over-state that issue. It really is likely not as bad as what you're imagining. It's a complete non-issue for me in reality. After 2.5 seasons (on the same blade without sharpening, no less), I'd have to go hunting to find any uncut stragglers...and it's entirely possible that any that do exist are simply sloppy tracking on my part.
Great info my man … many thanks 🤠👍🏼
My mower is about three years old and I love it I have the previous generation. I’ve had two of the blowers which worked great for about a year until they die. Ego has ghosted me on each one for warranty. At least I have two extra batteries though.
Man, that is a bummer about the blowers. Mine is now right at the 2 year mark and doing fine, thankfully. I got one for my dad as well and his is at the 1.5 yr mark and also going strong. I've only had the one battery issue (did a video on that experience) but the warranty coverage and customer service was fine for me. I will say that if you don't register your tools with them and upload a copy of the receipt, you're pretty much rolling the dice and on your own. And right now, due to supply chain issues on battery components in particular, I'm sure people are frustrated when they have problems because warranty replacements are taking a very long time to fulfill. And I'd assume this is an issue everywhere and not just with EGO. Anyway, I do absolutely appreciate your contributions to the conversation! Thanks Al!
i got the trimmer first...liked it so much ended up drinking the 5 gallon container of koolaid.....got the mower, blower, chainsaw, snowblower and I have never looked back one bit....these machines are beasts
haha nice! I've thought about the snowblower, but we only get about 1 or 2 weeks a year with actual snow where I need to shovel...so...haven't justified it to myself quite yet. :P
Thanks for shareing and more info how it works
Great video. Is the blower quiet? Thanks.
It is significantly more quiet than my corded version and also all of my neighbors gas versions. I'd say it is not much louder than a hair dryer on the high setting. I will say, I'm sensitive to loud noises generally, but I don't feel the need to where ear protection with the Ego blower (530cfm) - but I definitely DO have wear ear protection with my corded blower.
@@ReeWrayOutdoors Thank you very much for your response. Do you know which cordless battery powered blower is the quietest. Thanks again.
@@beckhamzhang4805 sorry, I only have direct experience with the EGO 530cfm - which is their lowest power model and, as a result I'm sure, the quietest one they sell. I don't have any basis for comparison against other battery-powered brands, but I'd guess there's not a lot of difference in the noise they produce at equivalent CFM rating. Lower CFM = lower noise and vice-versa. Good luck!
Nice vid. Only use the rapid charger if your in a pinch. Rapid charging lithium batteries consistently slowly causes battery degradation.
Oh ok, I wasn't aware of that. I'll have to read-up and consider changing my routine. Might be a good 'excuse' to go ahead and mount the standard charger next to the Rapid one.... Thanks for watching and contributing to the conversation!
I did do some investigating on this. Seems that the main concern with rapid charging is the higher temps can degrade the cells over time. EGO seems to have taken extra care on both the battery module and the rapid charger to provide active cooling and ventilation. The charger itself has fans for both its electronics as well as for the battery itself. So, the consensus seems to be that while slower charging IS best in principle, the EGO rapid charger, due to its ability to monitor and mitigate excessive heat buildup, is not likely to degrade battery performance to any tangible degree over the typical lifespan of the battery. Having said that, I think since I don't typically NEED to rapid charge, I might start using the standard charger anyway, just because...why take the chance? :)
It all depends on how hot it gets while charging. It’s the heat that kills the lithium batteries and not the fast charging.
never touched the push mower. I won't be until they make a 30" like my timemaster. but I picked up the new trimmer the blower and the edger this year and have loved them won't be going back to gas
Yeah, hard to go from a 30" to a 21", for SURE. :P
My EGO 56 V battery for my lawnmower went bad after 8 hours of usage. It took hours to get the warranty to agree to a new battery. 4 weeks later , my battery is out of stock with no guess when I may get one !!! Grass is still growing. Should have stayed with gas power , or a different company.
Strange how older models are work horses but newer ones got problems. There’s recent fall 2021 reviews repeating same battery problems you’ve stated.
still waiting for my replacement battery 2 months later. warranty seems worthless as is a battery powered lawnmower without a working battery. Beware buyers !!
I think the new harbor freight 80 volt tools probably have more promise but I'm keeping my gas mower for now and I did switch to craftsman 60V string trimmer.
You're constantly referring to the batteries as X milli-ampere-hours, but they are ampere-hours.
Other than this, excellent explanation on the differences between the tools that are not that easy to find out before purchasing. Thanks for the review.
Yeah, I didn't catch that until after I'd already posted the video... DOH!! 🙄 Too used to looking at cellphone and table specs I guess.
Great review.
I have the Greenworks 60v mower and snowblower, but after seeing the Ego 56v 530 blower, trimmer, battery charger and battery combo set for under $300...
I had to drink the Kool aid also 😂. LOL!
Now I have two systems.
No regrets!
Thanks for the vid.
Stay safe and healthy.
Peace
LOL great opening man!
Haha thanks!
I have the same mower, trimmer, and blower. Go with the newer select cut models that have the new batteries with the 5 segment power indicators. You will get more life out of those batteries. I also would spend the extra money for the better trimmer to auto load the string.
Thanks man! I appreciate you taking time to contribute to the conversation! I've heard that too regarding the higher trimmer.
I bought the one without the auto load. Wasn’t worth it in my opinion.
Hi, you review was very good and extensive. When you tell about pricing it would be good if you could put it on text on the left hand corner. Well done
I drank the EGO koolaide too and don't regret it a bit. The blower is amazing.
Indeed! I actually bought one for my father this past Christmas after seeing how much he liked using mine to blow leaves off his deck!
Which blower do you have the small or the big one
@@philipbalestrieri870 I've got the 530cfm, which I find more than adequate for what I need to do: grass clippings, leaves, light snow...
@@ReeWrayOutdoors thanks for the info and keep up the good work
@@philipbalestrieri870 I've got the handheld one that does like 650cfm. It's a beast. When you hit the "turbo" it blows so hard you can actually feel it push your arm back a bit. Very quiet too.
Great review!! I will purchase lawn mower with blower (no included battery).
so, can I use the battery of mower which is 5A? not too heavy to use it?
I don't think the 5A would be too heavy. I've actually used it with the 7Ah battery which is probably pushing it. One thing to think about - the batteries are always cheaper when purchased with the tool. I've been able to put the 2.5Ah battery in the mower (which makes it stupid light haha) and actually had no trouble mowing my front and side lawn on my 1/3 acre lot. I think it's nice to have this option and also nice to have at least 1 backup battery. My 2 cents...
Will the string trimmer support interchangeable attachments? like an edger,, pole saw etc.. Also will it be powerful enough to use my roto tilter attachment? All the attachments are Troybilt/ Ryobi/ Craftsman and are interchangeable.
I believe EGO has a version that supports multiple tool attachments - but I would seriously doubt that they are compatible with non-EGO branded attachments. I had a Ryobi gas-powered head with the trimmer and edger attachments - which I gladly sacrificed for the switch to battery powered. Gets a little harder to justify though when you've got more than just 2 attachments...
Got the ego select cut 7.5 battery for $237.00 at lowes, was returned the day before used for like 15 min.
Wow! Score!
Any idea which EGO string trimmer is the easiest/best for edging? I don't want the separate edger attachment.
I have really thick St. Augustine grass in both front and back. Do you think the E Go could handle it?
Very informative review
I was wondering . Have you heard anything about servicing the Ego mower and accessories. No one so far has had a positive review on this subject. I am still purchasing one . Just a thought I wsnted to put out there for you ?
Timely question! I had a 7.5Ah battery fail last month and EGO covered it under warranty so I had new one in hand in about 10 days. (Did a video about that experience recently). BUT, just a few days ago, my start switch failed. They hooked me up with an authorized repair place just a few miles from where I live. Supposedly should be about a week to get it back....warranty covered. So assuming that's how it ends up, I'm still satisfied. I'll probably do a quick video on that experience as well in a few weeks.
I use the switch on the front to turn down speed and when im blowing off my edging stone and it does not blow the mulch out of my beds.
Anyone else notice him saying milli amp hour? 2.5mAh is a funny thought. Anyway, thank you for sharing the review.
yeah yeah! You're correct. I've re-pinned my correction from 9 months ago on that... :P
Nice setup I'm working on mine
Nice 👍
I just noticed that I said "milli-Amp hours" the entire time, instead of "Amp hours". hahaha old habits... OBVIOUSLY, I meant "Amp Hours" (Ah). Re-pinning this comment from 9 months ago since so many seem compelled to point out my 'milli-amp-hour' gaff... :P I'd spent too much time looking at cell phone specs around the time I did this video... haha true story.
Ha! I was (not so) silently correcting it in my head the entire video. It was otherwise an awesome review, thank you sir.
@@dankronjin8562 My literal face-palm after I noticed the mistake (post-upload) was also 'not so silent'. hahaha
Yeah baby. I’m in that club. I can’t be happier.
Ego sits at the top when it comes to outdoor powered equipment! They dominate in literally every review our there for a reason. There customer service is also unbelievable! Ego is the company to be for sure
What’s the weight difference (roughly) between the gas trimmer and ego?
Ok I see it’s about 5 lbs lighter.
About the trimmer...Can someone use generic replacement line? I assume the only plus the EGO
brand line is being pre-cut to maximum line lenght the auto spooler
will take. If nothing special about EGO line, one could buy generic line
and precut to the lenght needed. What is your observation on that?
Hopefully someone else can comment on the auto winder (since I don't have that version). But the trimmer I have can definitely use non-EGO branded line.
@@ReeWrayOutdoors Auto winder = mosty likely another trick to charge 50$ more and just ad more weight. For the amount of times one needs to wind new strings...lol. Gotta be like..."is there a Iphone app for winding the string? LOL. To me, more gadjets = more chances for things to break. I hate this consumer society where everything has got to be easy. I prefer things that do not break and require no maintenace. Thanks for the answer. I bet EGO line goes for twice the price too.
Im looking to start a mowing business. Would you recommend this brand over other?
I must admit I'm not well-informed on the commercial considerations, BUT I believe I read somewhere that the usual warranty periods they advertise apply to non-commercial use only. That's probably not substantially different than other brands, but I'd definitely look into that and know what the details are before making a commitment to any brand.
Great review!!!!!
He left out the pain in the ass of your small engine carburetor getting gummed up like EVERY winter when the gas tools sit!
Can't believe how much I LOVE the electric cordless OPE!
I purchased an Ego lawn mower in May 2017. Went through three 5Ah batteries in 3 years. Spending $350 per year on batteries doesn't make sense to me. Bought a trimmer with 2.5Ah battery and an extra 2.5Ah battery for $130+. Use one battery to do small front yard and other battery to do backyard. Mower cuts grass OK. Have to hold the handle up to prevent ridges in cut grass. I like the convenience of the electric mower but would recommend trying another manufacturer as opposed to Ego.
I have both the lawn mower and leaf blower. I am looking at the weed eaters but I am confused. Do they make one that you can edge with? I do not want to spend 200.00 on a weed eater. Then another for an attachment. My Ryobi has it all in one and since Home Depot stopped selling them we do not have a store for me to go check them out in person now.
Ego does have a Multi-Head system, but it's pricey...the power head piece costs $149 and then you'd have another $129 on the Edger attachment. I just use my string trimmer to edge and I'm satisfied with the result, but I'm sure it's not quite as precise as with an actual edger. And I did replace a Ryobi gas-powered multi-attachment system with the EGO string trimmer and I'm just happy to not have to deal with the gas/oil mix and noise/vibration of my old Ryobi system. My personal preferences though obviously. Your preferences may be different.
Like i am looking in a mirror! The investment is the batteries. Look for a tool only me0800 it is the powerhead and edger attachment for $150 which is the same cost of the powerhead tool only. If you are in the market. They also sell a backpack blower with standard charger and 7.5 ah battery for $299 as you may know that is $50 less than the cost of the battery alone. Great job.
Welcome to the egolution.
I had a few ego tools.
I have a cheap black & decker trimmer and edger at the same time, you just flip the head. I wish Ego copy them so I can buy it.
I also have a corded Toro leaf blower which is very powerful and it also mulches leaves into a bag. I wish ego will copy that so I can buy it.
I happened to watch Fox news this morning and they had a guy with a Ego snowblower. Ego is awesome.
