I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use ruclips.net/user/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.
Damn that's the most organized and clean shop i've ever seen. i can't even walk into mine. it's been declared disaster area. At last an edger with flat shaft instead of usual curved crap.
Thank you for mentioning that this powerhead will use the 7.5ah battery. That is the battery I have on my mower and although heavier I’m glad to know it will work on this tool. Couldn’t seem to find that info anywhere else. Good run down.

I have the powerhead. EGO should have included the shoulder strap. The batteries are heavy and makes the tool heavy. With that said, it is a great product.
I asked Ego this exact question - their answer was "The BC3800E and ST1530E both have the same power as the PH1400E multi-tool powerhead unit. The difference between BC3800E and ST1530E and PH1400E is purely down to the handle configuration. The PH1400E would certainly give you more flexibility on how it can be used as it has more than 10 attachments which can fit on it." Obviously the dedicated trimmers have variable speed trigger.
@@quentinbell5617 No, I believe it just has a two speed trigger - I guess because it has to cater for all possible attachments - some of which may not work in a variable speed mode. Though there is a comment below that says it has "2 speed with variable trigger like high and low on a drilL" - which sounds the best of both worlds :)
Anything cuts fast in fast forward. How fast were you forwarding this video so maybe I can slow it down to compensate? Thanks for the video though! Just wishing I could get a little bit of the real speed in action.
@Steve Wilcox yea seems like ego are well made from all the research I've done. So far I believe that's the go to brand myself should I invest in larger than my 18v ryobi electric. The 18v ryobi brushless and only the brushless model string trimmer is a pleasant surprise and would be great for most people as I'd compare it to a cheap gas model. The ego I feel is definitely the pro grade stuff. I did trim 300 ft of fence on one 18v 4ah ryobi battery though but I feel with the newer 6ah and 9ah batteries it'd be awesome for most people that have that line already and it's more powerful than a lot of 40v models. Really voltage x ah rating gives a better realistic view of battery total power than ah or voltage alone for run time etc. For homeowner that has ryobi that model is great for the average person and yard. But I really would like to step up to the ego models as I feel they're the top of the line in balance, handling, and power and everything myself and think that'd be a little more comparable to my stihl fs-250 I'm use to lol. Hard to beat that model stihl as I personally believe it was the best ever made but the convenience of electric is super super super nice!
I've seen so many reviews on EGO...it's pointless!! I say this because everything EGO touches is golden. I'm going to take my hammer to them and have them touch it to turn it to gold as well. EGO owns the electric tool market for yard stuff and they should they are doing it right! Go EGO! I was not endorsed by EGO but I bought some EGO stuff and it's fabulous!
@@OurBuild Good to hear, and thanks for your quick reply.. I'm returning mine for a replacement, and if that doesn't do it, I guess I'll have to look for another brand.
I think EGO is giving Stihl a run for their money, I was just quoted pricing for the Stihl 16 inch battery chain saw, battery and charger as everything is sold separately $700 I purchased the 14 inch EGO $240 with 5 year warranty Stihl 2 year..
Yes, that sure is a sting in the tail. I really liked the look of this kit, but for professional use, the battery that comes supplied doesn't last long enough, and as you say, the longer lasting batteries, say 2 hours plus, are very expensive
@@tonynewnham3114 My Bosch 36 v Hedge trimmer is pretty good and got it cheap. Did a whole hedge with the 2.5ah battery and with charge left. Not tough growth, but most hedges are Privett type here anyway.
@@zarrow50 So if you had another say, four hedges to do that day, you'd definitely need two £750 batteries at least. Maybe you would have a way of charging them in your van or truck, I don't know. You definitely would not want to get out to your farthest customer, and run out of power! AT the moment, my only real motivation for battery power is health. My right hand 'trigger hand', goes numb after an hour these days, and swells to twice the size of the other hand, not nice at all, not to mention the back pain using the heavier petrol tools. I really like the idea of next to zero vibration with the electric kit, and the much lighter weight, but cannot really afford that size of investment at the moment :(

I love that you call it a whipper snipper. That's my new favorite term for a weed eater.
That's what they called the tool that they used for my circumcision. 😆🔪✂
Thats what Line trimmers are called in Australia. The box will always say line trimmer but no Aussie says line trimmer. They say WHIPPER SNIPPER!
Whipper Snipper is a phenomenal term for a line trimmer.
We always call it a strimmer or a trimmer
Whipper Snipper was one of the initial, mass advertised brands in Australia with a jingle that embedded into most of our brains 🥴

Really good quality review on this EGO product.
Looks like you’ll be putting all those tools to good use at your new place James...✅ Very informative video. Thank you.👍🏻

same here. looks like they're in Australia but not here, not even on the US site. I'd love one of those!!!

Hi James how does this compare to the makita version
Good video. Ego products are really nice. Their electric mower is really nice as well.
It is really nice gear, been using it for over 4 years now and can't fault it, very impressed 👍
Very good overview. Thank you. On a side note, I wish the U.S. used the metric system. So much more precise.
Thanks mate 👍
Great vid, Looking into getting battery powered trimmer. Are you still happy with EGO products performance?

Thanks for the great review, much appreciated!

How long is the battery run time ?
Have you compared the string trimmer power head with the dedicated EGO string trimmer. I wonder how they perform. Which is better?
I second this. I NEED to know.

I don't use power tools too much . Do you think the brush cutter is dangerous? How easy would it be to accidently hurt yourself with it?
What about the all shaft? Can I use these attachments on my split shaft trimmer or do I ha be to buy the multi head?
Where did you buy the brush cutter? I cant find that attachment anywhere.
Nice video. what battery were you using when you were cutting up those tree branches?
One thing people forget is how easy it is to load new line to the bump feeder?
Thanks
Great review, thanks.
Brush trimmer not available in the US
give it time if not ebay!
Good to see you back doing reviews.👍 any plans to add some siding draws to the BT?
Cheers mate, yeah that's on the list!
Our Build I would like to see the build video of that.
where can I find the brush cutter attachment?
Go to eBay and order (Hong Kong).
2 speed only or 2 speed with variable trigger ?
2 speed with variable trigger. Like high and low on a drill.

Hahaha.
just picked up a 82v snapper string trimmer
was not happy with the 20v Dewalt 1st gen , still using a Troy bilt 4 stroke , too noisey
