Great video review. I have the same guitar; it's actually a Taylor 414ce V-Class Special Edition Grand Auditorium. The regular 414ce guitar does not have the sunburst or the gold hardware. Enjoy!
Just stumbled upon this … I just purchased this exact same guitar today :). Absolutely gorgeous instrument … other than the “ over kill fret markers “ … but I loved everything else about it :).
@@immichaelh it’s at $2,899 now, probably due to inflation, I need to check with musician’s friend ,they usually have 15% off . Thanks for your feedback
I love the Grand Concert size. I currently own a Taylor Academy 12e -- I'm still a beginner. But eventually, I know I'm going to want to upgrade. I keep waffling back and forth between the 312ce and the 412ce. I want to stick with the Grand Concert size, but I can't decide which series I like better, the 300 or the 400. Thanks for this review, it helps.
Nice! I just checked out that GC style. It's similar to the dreadnought, but a combo of dreadnought and Grand Auditorium. I prefer the GA because of that cut out since I like to solo up higher on the neck. As each series increases you have improvements in materials, aesthetics, bindings, etc. If budget allows, I recommend going for the higher series!
V brace reduces mids and lows. I was about to get a 714ce but went with one of their X braced guitars instead- it has far better base. Since you plug in, it is less of an issue since you can EQ it. They do look great and have great playability. The new 414ce is a bit trebly for my ears but it seems like you are happy with it.
@@immichaelh I love the 414 and 714 but since I much prefer the fuller sound of base, I would go with one pre 2018 (X bracing.) Again, if you plug in, it's less of an issue. They do a comparison here in YTube X vs V bracing Taylor. It's a very noticeable difference...which I also felt when I played several of them- at different stores.
bought the original 414ce about 17 years ago from guitar center... as soon as I played it I fell in love with it. I am liking the sunburst model... might upgrade.. I wish they would still make the jumbo models ... those contained the beautiful brightness that the 414ce gives but brought on a more beautiful full low-mid range tone then the 414ce... I wanted to buy one but at the time they were a little over $3k and was too much money for me.
@@immichaelh I played the v-class model at my local guitar center and honestly its sounds the same , but it does do what it claims to do and it provides a longer sustain that resonates longer before fading out. i paid $2k at the time.
Thanks for taking the time to check out this video. Comment below your thoughts.
Congratulations! I have a 414ce too, but yours with that sunburst and gold tuners looks amazing! Enjoy!
Congrats on your 414ce! I am not sure where this sunburst and gold tuner model came from, but happy I discovered it.
I just changed my tuner to black it’s looks amazing (to me)

It means more knowing you own this guitar and feel this was a good video review.
I bought this guitar yesterday and I love it. It was perfect from the first chord!
I bought one just like this about 8 months ago. I love it!
Nice I'm sure you have been enjoying it!

Definitely a beautiful instrument! Congrats on your recent purchase James.
How much do I expect to pay for this guitar?
@@wildwolf8983 I paid a touch over 3500 Canadian dollars … plus the tax on top
@@wildwolf8983 I wanna say I paid $2,600 for this.

The 414 CE is a superb guitar. I got the rosewood version and the sound is great.
This guitar has the rosewood backing
Should I return my 314 CE I can upgrade I am in my 45 days to return
@@ComicKish Depends on your preferences. I like the sound of the 414 amplified much better than 314, but both are still great guitars

I just bought exactly same 2 days ago and love it so much
Love the review
Bought the same Taylor 414cw burst with RW last Saturday . It is awesome and sounds great through my Cube Street EX with the Jensen MOD's .
Congrats on your purchase!
I have a 714 series, if I'm not wrong the 314, 414 and 714 all are the same size.
Yes the 4 represents the body type. 4 = Grand Auditorium
yes.
I played that model the other day its now £2500 in the UK

I tested my uncles 714 an my 414 and his had much more bass. I like the amount of bass I have for my guitar and sometimes find myself turning it down.

Feels great playing this guitar. This guitar has their newer V-class bracing so an updgrate would be much different. I paid $2,400 for mine.

@@immichaelh you got ripped off. I just got the same guitar new for 2,150
Intonation get a guitar tuner and a capo at 5th fret and 7th and open that will solve it
Brother I am a beginner , I play on acoustic guitar , can you comment out the guitar learning path from beginner to like intermediate !
Good idea I will work on something for this.
Practice. That’s all you need
Just got a new exact same guitar, did you change the stock strings immediately after buying?
Congrats! I liked the sound of the stock strings and probably didn't change them for a month.
They actually come with D’addario XS coated strings as of 2024. Great strings and an appreciated extra from the Taylor crew.
