    Make sure you have a smoke/CO detector and fire extinguisher. Know where they are, and always restore the CO detector to its place after cooking if it goes off. Also, it may seem obvious when everything is fine, but check if your rear doors can be opened from the inside when they are locked, and keep any child-locks disengaged. Examine if those side windows can be kicked out in an emergency. Sh- most likely won’t happen in your setup, but sometimes it happens. (from a trucker who’s brake caught fire last week) God bless!

    Welcome to my new home ❤ As a follow-up video, should I do:
    1) "typical day in vanlife" vlog
    2) a more detailed "what it costs to build a van" video?
    3) ...or something else?
    Please comment below to let me know, love you guys!

      Typical van life would be interesting
      Detailed cost breakdown would be also something I’m interested in
      Maybe a video about issues that come up with van life? Like some of the things to look out for/watch out for and how you resolve or problem solved to overcome whatever issue presented itself.
      Also- for your clothes and how to be more efficient in storage, you should add in dividers into your cabinets and then sort your clothes into those dividers, make sure the dividers are thin so you don’t lose storage space but get it so you can sort your pants / shirts / shorts / long sleeve shirts / underwear/ bras / socks etc. - so basically every category has a spot and you just put each category in each divider area. Keeps you organized because everything has a place.
      Love these van life videos, you’re living my dream!

      My vote is for a typical day in vanlife episode. Congrats, I admire what you're doing and how you're moving on in your life in your own way! I traveled Australia for a year in a station wagon and it was terrific. Come to think of it now, also was considering vanlife around the same time, summer 2021, but went to Oaxaca instead. Hi Rose it is quite clear that you are a detailed person and you have thought about everything. I am glad you are following your dreams. Your Van is awesome. You gave me an idea, i was a carpenter in my late teens then got my electrical engineering degree. I could buy a van like yours for 40K and add everything you did for 20k in parts (build out everything my self - oh and add solar too.)and sell it for 100K . BTW love your hair.

      I don't think that you are considering actual cash flow and capital gains tax, but yeah it's not a bad side hustle. Wouldn't quit my job, quite yet over it.
      Now if he gets to the point where he has minimum 4 or 5 van orders a year, he could quit his job and start thinking about who he is going to hire and how he is going to expand for the year after that. But still even then, cash flow, taxes, insurance, wages for starters and a lot of hard physical and mental work.
      And that is why hard working rich people deserve what they have.
      Me personally, I would weekend side hustle with this for a few years, keep my 9 to 5 for the benefits and see how society is going to react to less police and more violent crime that Democrats want. (They just cant seem to stay in power without creating chaos or letting it happen and then pretending to be the solution.)

      @@jejoko The current situation in the USA is the result of welfare mothers having so many kids who grow up to be relied again on government aid, some leftist/liberal movements and entitlement, together with immigration policy. Russia and China would be interested to see the USA becomes a Marxist country. Left-leaning groups would be happier to turn this beloved country to the one with full of propaganda and empty promises. Some Immigrant-turn-to-be politicians have their own agendas not for the USA. It would be great if these politicians go back to their countries to brainwash their own people.The leftists and the liberal media can go to Russia, China, even North Korea to experience life there to see if they can exercise their rights, freedom, and liberty as they wish. Good luck! Don’t wait until you lose your freedom in a great country to realize it’s too late.

    You're brave for opening up on the divorce and what it did to your identity. I totally agree with you because marriage can do that to a gal sometimes and you just have to be strong and realize that life is too short to be miserable all the time having regrets and not doing what you want to do (like live in a van). I'm in school for my bachelors in graphic design, and my finances are really shitty right now to even consider buying/building a van to live in. The whole reason why I discovered your channel in the first place was to learn money. How to save it/invest it/smart financial practices. I don't know if critical comments are being suppressed or not, but they should be balanced with some more important questions: When does relying on the hospitality of your "friends" start wearing thin or become worn out...it would only be fair to pay them a fee for use of their facilities and for inconvenience to them? What happens when things start malfunctioning in the van...van maintenance and upkeep are going to become a more significant expense. Gasoline expenses will also rise precipitously. For safety, maybe the windows should be tinted to improve privacy. They should also be reinforced with steel bars so as to reduce the risk of forced entry, especially at night. These are important issues to actually consider....

  • @JonathanS89

    • @ForexStoryteller
      @ForexStoryteller 2 года назад +10

      You can actually search for mailbox services in the area you stay. Most times it's a key deposit and you pay in 3-6-12 month terms but you can get a "physical address" to use this way. Just make sure to search "mailbox services" and not post office box. Post net is one such example

    • @JonathanS89

      @Joseph Hicks Oh wow, interesting. Thanks for the information 👍

    • @ForexStoryteller
      @ForexStoryteller 2 года назад +9

      @@JonathanS89 another little "life hack" involving these 'mailbox services': because they are not a "PO box" you can use these addresses for anything you could use a home address for. So if you rent and, and your landlord won't provide a document for you to do business from your home, these addresses can be used to register the business, and even get a license to drive or register a car to, so they can be pretty useful for "working outside the box"

I saw a youtube video where a guy's curtain had a picture of a repair/tools if someone looked into the van via the windshield to throw off anyone looking into the van. For me, I would probably have a couple 24-hr national gym memberships for showers and a place to park.

    Also instead of the complexity & weight of cabinet doors U could have used IKEA collapsible fabric boxes, just make sure there is a say, one inch lip at the edge of the bottom of each self/ cabinet to keep them from flying off. Then just lift & slide them out.

But caution on some things, like vehicle thief or fire. because your everything is in the van, if you lose your van, everything goes. and you are a lady and bad people thinks you are a easy target. add some security cameras and alarm and maybe a revolver for self protection, fire-extinguisher for fire, and learn some car engine stuff incase something goes wrong in a very deserted place with no communication signals. one question, how you replenish fresh water? Depreciation is another cost to be considered (straight line for 5 yrs is $20k per year). Also maintenance is higher per square foot than a stationary space. This is a life experience play rather than financial play in this case. By nature a car is not an asset like a home that appreciates.
    I am on the fence to spend $100K on a van or use the $100K to travel with a car / hotel and can travel to different continents.

      @@raymondcunanan1135 I totally would not want to leave this vehicle in an urban area with heavy traffic. Grocery shopping for most people is at least three bags, so with her dog always riding shotgun, you wouldn't want that much delicious temptation in front of it.
      That means opening up the rear of the van, where those tens of thousands of dollars worth of furniture and utilities will be exposed for the world, including thieves, to see. I probably would never leave my vehicle in San Francisco, where a car break-in happens somewhere in the city every seven minutes, in the urban core. 👩‍🔧

    Rose just use cube fabric bins for separating/organizing in bedroom because they come in many colors/sizes and are inexpensive. or clear plastic tote bins if want it waterproof or sealed. sorry you had bad marriage but am glad u got out of it and are living a happier more fulfilling life! best of luck on your new life journies!😀😘😁

    Hi Rose, I switched to packing cubes for travel and they've been a game changer for me. I'd recommend you get some at least for organizing your clothes. When I travel I put shirts in one, pants in another, undies/socks in another, etc. (rolling is best for compactness and wrinkle prevention). I got Suite Nomad brand from Amazon - very happy with the quality! They have a 2 zipper system, one for opening, and one for pressing/compacting. Your van is amazing - enjoy everything!

    Very nice rig! I'm building a van conversion right now. No where near your budget lol. I picked up a 2010 transit with 140k miles on the clock and built it out myself. Total cost was just under £10k. Should last me a few years, and then I can hopefully sell it on and get most of my money back. It's been a difficult, but a very rewarding experience

    Yep...you're awesome!! Beautiful! You really went for it yet again Rose! Super proud of you. I did the camper (pop-up) for 3 years and loved every minute of it. You are setting yourself up just like you dreamed. Keep it up...thank you for sharing. Pop-up cubes and mesh netting and nonslip surfaces in your kitchen cupboards. Also...rolling up your clothes neatly versus folding will give you a lot of additional space. Love hearing from you as always...big hug!

    Ma'am, you spent 60K for your van build. They should have done an excellent job considering that the build out cost more than the van did.
    Basically that's like buying a home for 100k but spending 200k to make it look like your dream home. It better be worth the money you shelled out to make it your home.
    Unfortunately it looks like more money went into the labor than the parts. Anyway happy travels. Enjoy living your life on your terms.

    Congrats Rose! Very nice features in the van. I think anyone can do the same way of life. Very practical and friends can do road trip together too. Quick question, does the Ram van is gasoline or diesel? Do you opt for solar panels on roof top to help recharge the vehicle and accessories batteries? Does your clean and gray water tank big enough for a week? Do you install awning outside the door? I wanted to have one like this for road trip across'merica every year but do not have enough info about maintenance, insurance and location to refill and unload dirty water, etc. You know, because it's a cool small home on wheel. Anyway, i'm glad you get it done and enjoying it. Cheers.

    Very nice Van and well thought out. I like the Manufactured home with own property option to stay in the US as cheaper than home mortgage option myself, as i paid mine off to be debt free 5 years ago and also good option for retirement because it not too big also and lower energy bills than most other homes because not as big as home.

I envision myself having the van sliding door open and looking out over beautiful scenery while I do my job. it is great to see this already built into someone's van! I also make a lot of smoothies and like to sit cross-legged while I work - lol I am glad I am not the only solo female who feels the need for a huge fridge/freezer!

      she mentioned she paid about 40,000 for the van and 60,000 for the build out.

    • @itsrosehan
      @itsrosehan  2 года назад +1

      Right, 40+60k! But you can also get a used van for 10-20k and DIY the build yourself… that would mean another 10-20k for the materials/tools, so there is quite a large price range depending on how much DIY you’re willing to do and how many amenities you put in your van. The absolute basics are a bed, some cabinets, some way to charge your electronics and a simple water system - this type of build would be fairly simple to DIY for cheap. As for sq footage, there is about 11.5ft x 6ft of living space (excluding the cab area).
