Thanks so much for explaining this I was going crazy trying to connect the “recommended” car harness for my Toyota solara only come to realize it doesn’t fit into that jbl one , now I realize I can just bypass the jbl and use the other ones thanks !
Oh thank God finally someone who tells me how to freaking do this. Thank you dude I have watched like 10 videos of people claiming to be doing what you just did and they never show you how to do it. There was like oh by this hug this up plug it in. I’m like this doesn’t freaking plug in these Connections aren’t the damn same . Now I know what to do thanks.
dude thank you so much! I almost ordered a harness so that I could use the factory amp, but apparently it's highly recommended to use the bypass harness for my setup.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video, it helped me. Unfortunately I experienced a large loss in audio quality in my 1999 Solara SLE V6 w/ JBL Audio package, I even have installed 2 different stereos, one cheap no name and the other a power accoustic double din apple car play dvd player. Both the sound quality is horrible, I also ordered the harness in the comments you linked and that did not work as well. Im on the fence on if i should spend more money (its my winter beater) or go back to stock and get a FM transmitter.
I have the same exact car. Do you know if this would be the same setup if I wanted one of those headunits with a touchscreen (like on newer cars)? I deliver for Amazon & having a bluetooth transmitter only sucks, because sometimes I end up in rural areas, so there's a lot of static or sometimes, whatever town I end up in has a radio station that is using the same channel as I am. So a head unit with bluetooth would really help, & I just want a screen as well, to give it a more updated look.
Here is the amazon link for the jbl one. Only thing you have to make sure is whichever after market stereo you get has at least 2 sets of rca plug in’s in the back. Not all stereos have 2. No. Those other wires are the factory non jbl connectors. What plugs into them is the cable that runs to the amp and back to the stock stereo. Buy unplugging it. And plugging your aftermarket stereo directly into it you bypass the amp
If you don’t have it. It’s not worth installing it. You can get much better sound for much cheaper going aftermarket. Get a nice head unit and amp and you’ll sound great. You can even do the speakers if you really want to have Crisp sound.

Depends on the stereo head you get. If you get the 15$ duel radio from Walmart it will suck. If you get a nice pioneer or kenwood. It’ll sound way better
It should. Just pull the stereo and see if there’s any plugs that look like they would be for a basic stereo. Toyota and Honda liked keeping things simple by keeping the same harnesses
My 1999 Solara Jbl system has an extremely loud Subwoofer rumble …assumed from the Jbl power amp…although once warmed up, problem goes away. Engine must be running for the super loud maxed sub rumble…in acc mode, radio works. Just purchased a NEW OEM in box JBL power amp. Paid Toyota to switch it out….with new Jbl power amp, ZERO sound from radio period. Contacted the power amp seller, and a replacement should be here by Monday…currently day before thanksgiving. So, has anyone had this problem? I assumed that it was the power amp that was causing the crazy loud sub rumble sound…. When the old power amp is put back, the signal does pass through. New power amp, no signal. Thanks
@@Lejedhi Wasn’t the power amp…It was a bad rear speaker. Once those rear speakers wear disconnected, loud drone sound stopped. Front speakers are working fine.
Thanks so much for this video! It made it super easy for me to install a stereo with hands free calling and a backup camera into a 2000 Solara.
Yu put a touchscreen in there??

You're a lifesaver. I was so confused as to why the recommended harness was different and where to find my Amp connector. Thank you!

I installed the Jensen MPR2121
Thank You again

Thx for this vid it helped me out alot with putting a touch screen in my solara

Does the adapter your talking about come with the radio you buy?
Hello buddy if I bypass the amp would stock speakers still work
Thank you for the location of the jbl hook up
Hey! Awesome video but can you please tell me what harness I am looking for if I want to keep the jbl setup?

@@stevensgarage7284 thanks, what a good overall aftermarket stereo with 2 sets of rca ? Can’t seem to find any
THANK TF YOU MAN!!!!
What did you connect the orange wire to mine didn’t have it on the radios wiring harness
Can you do a double din on this ?
do i need the key with the chip in order to program the remotes?
I have a 2005 solara, they must have changed it, I have same adapter plugs as yours. But cant locate it. Any help with this? TY
Thanks you!
Can you put the pocket on the top?
How do you not by pass the jbl factory amp?
Did your back lights go out
I treated to install radio on Toyota Solara 2000 but, I can located the back connectors.
Thanks I was wondering if I can just leave that 12 pin adapter unplugged
Plugging it into those other wires won’t do any damage ??
No. Those other wires are the factory non jbl connectors. What plugs into them is the cable that runs to the amp and back to the stock stereo. Buy unplugging it. And plugging your aftermarket stereo directly into it you bypass the amp
hi, i want to install jbl radio, can you help me? I don't have the connector, I don't have the jbl system either. i need a diagram

@@stevensgarage7284 I want to know if I can install the radio without the amplifier
No. Because there is a harness that hooks up into the amp and from the amp there is another harness that goes back to the radio
where is the amp located?
Were did u plug the panel hardness to
I got an adapter that plugs into the factory harness that you hook into the new stereo harness
The link you posted for the jbl set up with the amp isn't working?

Hey man! I happen to be looking for the exact radio you took out, any chance you still have it and be willing to part ways?
I don’t. Mine the screen was smashed
I have an extra, do you still need it?
@Dj Glyden i think I will be having mine after this weekend ...just got an 01 and doing the stereo this weekend
@Dj Glyden Yo...I'll get back to ya , didnt get around to it this weekend and left the stock one in for something on my commute
Will this affect the quality of the audio? What difference will it make?
Depends on the stereo head you get. If you get the 15$ duel radio from Walmart it will suck. If you get a nice pioneer or kenwood. It’ll sound way better
Is it me or the dashboard clock can no longer be set because the factory radio was removed????
Mine still works with an aftermarket clarion deck and i used this method
How many inch of the size of the screen that able to fit to that?
I think it’s a double din
@@stevensgarage7284 so it’s 7inch?
I think so? I don’t have the car anymore so I can’t go out and measure.
@@stevensgarage7284 thx. Yes it does fits
DIN is a size standard, you can have screen sizes up to 7" with double DINs, some can go up to 10" but they extend beyond the double din size.
What if there is no orange wire coming out the back of the radio
The aftermarket radio that is. The metra 70-1765 has an orange wire but there is not a corresponding on the plug in the back of the new stereo
Usually orange is for the dimmer which not every plug or stereo has
Anybody know if this method would also work for a 2003 Sienna with JBL?
It should. Just pull the stereo and see if there’s any plugs that look like they would be for a basic stereo. Toyota and Honda liked keeping things simple by keeping the same harnesses
I can't see the description 😕

U bypassed the amp so no u are not running the jbl system there is another harness to use the jbl system

I personally think they’ll sound better if you get a good stereo.
