The parts of the brain responsible for association latch on harder to music than words. Any experiences you had while this was playing are immediately brought back via association when you hear it again. The only association part of the brain stronger is smell, which is why you can remember what a specific food smells like for your entire life. Essentially, when you hear it, all the good memories you had in it rush back to you all at once, and you miss the ability to experience that joy again. It's sad, but be glad you had it while it lasted.
This composition by Koji Kondo was amazing. You truly felt like you were on this impossible road of fear and challenge to fight a great evil. I mean back then video composition music was great because there was alot to prove and alot at stake. Not to mention with next gen hardware making alot more things possible it was time to test its limits with sound engineering and producing. I bet people had lots of fun creating music and games around this era.
Back then i was always nervous in these kind of levels. Never had time to notice the music. Now, after decades i realize these are some amazing nostalgic tunes. There is something super unique and enchanting about the music from N64 games. Never ageing timeless vibes since day 1.
I think Mario 64 had the most memorable and greatest tracks I have ever heard in the series. It knew when to be dramatic (Bowser's Road) when to be energetic (the slider theme), and how to fit the atmosphere of a level (e.g. Whomp's Fortress. Snowman's Land, Big Boo's Haunt, Shifting Sand Land etc.). It is wonderfully eclectic.
Sayr To each their own. I don't think it is the greatest soundtrack of all time, but I would rank it among my top 10 game soundtracks, and I certainly consider it to be the best Mario soundtrack I have ever heard.
Sayr I love those soundtracks as well. Gusty Garden is so beautiful to listen to. I just found myself more attached to 64's soundtrack. Mario World is probably my second favourite though.

I brought my 3ds to his room while playing MPIT BPP, and asked him if he recognized the music. He listened closely, then, he started laughing, and smiled really, really, big.

I like how heroic this is. Most dont hear it but its almost like with the more intense it gets the more you feel mario's struggle and his achievments. You really feel like your overcoming these dark and evil stages for the good , for the princess. I think this music realy does a good job of pointing out how sinester and evil bowser realy is and how far he will go.

As a speedruner, my heart beat 10x faster when i hear this song
I remember that this song used to give me the creeps when I was younger, it sounded like you were trapped in Hell & needed to find a way out, now I love this song, especially the remixes used in the Galaxy games, they make this theme sound so much more triumphant
Shit just got real.
1:43 so smoothhh to my ears I remember Playing this when I was 7 years old me and my Cousin literally play it everyday
sneaking round at night for a midnight snack, while avoiding the stuff all over the floor
*music plays*
I listen to this on the way to work. Gets me ready for the day.

Road to Jack Black...
Also, road to movie theatre when Super Mario movie came out.
The song that will always be the bridge between Mario Music, Legend of Zelda Music, and Metroid Music for me
Childhood well spent. :)
Diego Vargas nice prof pic

i was playing Mario Party Island Tour and i heard this music on the board: Bowser's Peculiar Peak. My brother originally owned the Super Mario 64 Ds game i have now. I brought my 3ds to his room while playing MPIT BPP, and asked him if he recognized the music. He listened closely, then, he started laughing, and smiled really, really, big.
Playing the game as a kid when it was new, reaching a stage with this music for the first time, I - WAS - HYPED!

Damn so much nostalgia.... Played this in 2011 on a n64 and the ds in 2012. I got every star on both games.
How did you got an N64 at 2011?
@@snarkfromhl A SwapMeet Lol. I just saw one and wanted to get it. It came with 3 games including super Mario 64.
@@itscamilo1 Ok then.

Bowser’s Road was the Level that turned men into Chads and Chads into Mario
The nostalgia hits hard. I remember my aunt first showing me this game when I was 2, and now im 11 and I still play it to this day. This is and will always be my favorite game. :D
This is a banger.
You knew it was time to get serious when this music came on
The realisation that this is Bowser's theme but with a different pulse is just mindblowing lol
and better
N64 video game music was made with pure love...
Man on the Internet lyrics:
Chorus: In tenebris, deus ignis. Totem caelum. Luce stellarum! x2
Mario: I gaze through the darkness to find starlight. They illuminate me to guide me tonight! I know we’ve done this dance time and time again; this time I know I’ll win!
Chorus: Domineo! (Under the starlight) Domineo! (They’re guiding me tonight) Domineo!
Mario: to the one ending I know! Let’s go! Let’s go!
Bowser: I have walked a winding road, followed its trail. Always coming back home where I will prevail! I learn from my mistakes; I’ll always try again! Only one path to take but I’ll win!
Chorus: Domineo! (Under the Starlight) Domineo! (They’re guiding me tonight) Domineo!
Bowser: to the one ending i know! Let’s go! Let’s go!
I play this song while driving my truck when I'm slowly climbing mountains
"the floor is lava"
Like for Real in one of the stages of the game
I always turn up the volume while ascending Bowser's Road. This is why.
I can't believe the game is this old now. It was soooooo amazing to see it when it first came out. One of top favorite games of all time and I just love the soundtracks. I like the new Mario games thats being put out because I'm a fanatic about Mario bros, but Super Mario 64 will always have a place in my heart. Might have to download on WiiU if its available.

You have no idea how long it took me to find this OST🥹 so much nostalgia....
Such an underrated Nintendo game theme. I haven't played a single Mario game since the 64, but I'm hoping this theme has been put in future installments of the series
