Hey Kristian, i'm writing as i'm watching the episode, maybe you'll comment this, but... Even if i'm not the biggest fan of Love and Thunder, Taika got his Oscar for writing Jojo Rabbit, a movie where he balanced humor and seriousness really well... Perhaps one not so great movie is a bit too reactive to cancel a movie!
It was nice to see Reilly again. I've been wondering where he's been lately, but I'm very glad to hear he's working at a production company and working his way up in the industry. I hope he makes it big. He's a great dude and deserves all the success.
It would be waste of money, but I want that too. SW will have to implement time travel and properly kill off the Skywalkers. They could use universe-4 or -7 where Anakin kills palpatine and Padme lives. Ani becomes Jedi Master or Sith Lord in this timeline. Jacen or Luke becomes evil.
Great to see Mark again! I think the font used in the Ahsoka show title is a clue about the world between worlds being a thing. I’m sticking to my theory - same timeline - Grogu faces a threat and is saved by sending him back in time 850yrs where he assumes a new name (Yoda). He is Yoda. He then knows how things pan out but doesn’t know how or when - he only knows that he has a part to play in shaping the galaxy.
the sequel trilogy discussion, was the perfect example on how to disagree on a topic in a respectful manner. This is how Star Wars fans should be acting, fandom without toxicity!
Nice to see Reilly again. As for his TLJ take, I didn't dislike the idea of Luke's arc, but the way it was executed left much to be desired. Seemed he only had two moods in 90% of the film: flippant or grouchy. Neither of which has ever been associated w/ OT Luke. But think we can all agree the biggest misstep of the sequels - other than poor planning - was not getting Han, Luke, and Leia back together one last time before killing them all off.
@@daranphilipson1025 As someone that actually likes TFA, and loves TLJ, I almost agree with you; however, TROS lost the plot big time!! It still has some redeemable moments, but overall, it’s a mess.
Time travel undermines the concept of visions and force ghosts. this is not back to the future or marvel. they just need to change the female story group to be an equal amount of females and males.
I've been wondering where Reilly has been, and he made the RIGHT choice. Hope you get him in here so we can support his new stuff when he has stuff to promote!
It was nice seeing both of you again guys 😄 , I love it when you have two Star Wars fans who like different things because that is how we can get a great discussion 😊
I enjoyed the first season but the story has still to take root and have some serious stakes. I want a clearer direction and better story for season 2. The show has some promise but it has been the weakest of all the animated stuff so far for me.
Whenever you two team up, it's always a joy. Ahsoka and The Mandalorian Season 3 are my highly anticipated Star Wars stories of next year. Whenever we get a Ahsoka official teaser/trailer, my brain is gona melt. Love the convos and I hope to see more of it in the future.
Mark Yodi Reilly. Welcome 😁 I would like Finn to get his own movie and explore him becoming a Jedi. I like Daisy as Rey but I wish Finn had been the main hero. It would be interesting to set up Finn as a Jedi and the main hero and for Rey to turn to the dark side down the line. I like time travel and would be open to seeing how it could be used. I wouldn't retcon the sequels. I am an OT era fan, in my 40's. I love the prequels and I also love the sequels. They have moments that aren't perfect but I love em all the same.
Great conversation! Kristian hit it on the nose with the sequels and Obi Wan series. For the Sequels, how can you have a game plan or cohesiveness when there's too many cooks in the kitchen? Should have been the same writer and director from the beginning telling one big story. And Obi Wan is an easy fix. If it had been ANYTHING like Andor in terms of story and tone, it would have made that show epic!
Loved seeing Reilly back talking Star Wars I really enjoy Sith Council it is on my podcast playlist every week. Hope everyone has a Happy New Year!!! 2023 is looking like a great year for Star Wars content.
Great show. Miss you Reily back in your Collider years. Miss the Cantina. Are we in agreement that if you’re a Force Sensitive character in the StarWars universe with no Jedi/Sith training you’re basically a mutant with limited telekinesis or if you’re Asoka (Animal) mind control. Or as Kristian would phrase it the superhero ability to talk to someone and convince them to do the right thing.😊
Loved this - reminded me of the old JC days. Conversation just flows so naturally between you two...so much so it felt like the hour just flew by! Thanks to you both
Good to hear you're doing well Reilly! Would definitely love to see you back on the show whenever you have the time. I had been wondering why your own channel was so quiet. All the best for the future man!
Reilly we missed you!! Loved getting to meet you at Flappers for Kristian's first show back! As for the whole Convo about changing the sequels, I think we all wish we could've seen something else/more, but striking them from canon or reconning them is not the way. If you do that, then nothing is gonna feel sacred or like it will matter. However, I am totally behind the idea of doing a special editions of the sequels! Going back and tweaking minor things, maybe adding stuff. Changes or additions that come to mind is to just either make Exegol a changed Mortis or define it as a planet like Mortis, adding a subtitle to Mustafar in TROS. Also, add all the known force ghosts (Yoda, Obi Wan Anakin, Luke, Qui-gon too maybe) coming to help Rey during the climax with Palpatine and have them all scattered and hovering over Rey and Ben disappearing one by one until Luke is left with Ben alone. Also, we gotta get a KOTOR movie trilogy. It feels like an obvious route to go!
Nice to hear Reilly again! Note btw: Han says in TFA apprentice turns against him. Felt responsible walks away from everything. Walks away from everything? Thats not the luke from OT. So dount blame rian. Blame jj. JJ abrams sets up the luke that rian build on.
Great show as always just rewatched Rogue One after Andor. It hits harder. The dialog has more meaning now. Also had to watch A New Hope and the death star exploding that felt more emotional now.
Dumb theory alert: One thing in Rise of Skywalker that always stuck out, Is how after Ben disappears, he’s nowhere to be seen, either as a voice, or a force ghost. I think an interesting idea, would be to reveal Ben never made it out of that pit Palpatine threw him into. He projected himself to reach Rey in the end, but himself was left in the depths of Exegol, And through the World Between Worlds, Ahsoka finds and saves Ben Solo. This would be more conceivable in an animated series that live action, But to have Ben’s redemption continue with the apprentice of his grandfather could be cool.
Loved this episode and LOVED that someone went to bat for Obi Wan! Mark Reilly I LOVED what you said and that you’ve gone against the lazy narrative presented about Obi on the internet. It dwarfed Andor in ratings and if they work out a few kinks, bring in Qui Gon the second season would be massive. More Obi NOW!
It dwarfed Andor in ratings because Kenobi is a much more popular character. That was the series by far I was the most hyped for whilst Andor I was going to check it out because it was Star Wars but I didn’t have that attachment to the character. I checked out Kenobi immediately on release and waited till a couple weeks ago for Andor. I can tell you what though, I love Andor to bits and I wish I had never watched the Kenobi show. I don’t think I could bring myself to watch it again and Obi-wan is my 3rd favourite character. Butchers him, Vader (to an insane degree) the inquisitors, Owen Lars at the end and just the overall world and it’s poorly written and the story is no good and horribly developed. I don’t think the people behind it knew Star Wars but on top of that they had no idea how to write a story. I honestly don’t know how they have jobs. Andor blows it out of the water
@@protector_of_the_realms All of your piece is opinion. That’s fine we are all entitled to that. Yes you say the people who wrote Kenobi do not know Star Wars. How ironic given Andor writer’s admission that he doesn’t know Star Wars…if you believe you need to know Star Wars to write good Star Wars then Andor would not exist in the manner that it does. I wish you well.
@@marksith6550 Yes however there are a couple things I think that are important here in that though Andor’s writer doesn’t know much about Star Wars he’s willing to admit that and essentially write a tight, cohesive personal story that doesn’t have a lot to do with the greater established franchise (really the only thing so far that might’ve been screwed up is Kassian’s separatist backstory but there’s actually still space for that to work and fit in and hasn’t necessarily contradicted anything outright) and as Harloff said the right people who knew Star Wars were put in place to help with the collaborative project in the background. The main difference is Kenobi is dealing with very much established characters and events and unfortunately actually screws with characters and lore at their expense to poorly tell a story that wasn’t thought out in the slightest that has many ramifications to the greater tale. We’ll see if Andor keeps it up but I am willing to give leeway and for stuff to be changed if there’s an actual story reason to do so and/or what’s being produced in place of it is good which I don’t think at all was the case with Kenobi as much as it pains me to say
@@protector_of_the_realms Andor I believe benefits from not being a Kenobi type character loved by fans. It means we have little preconceptions of how the character would act. I have little to no personal investment in Andors characters and I believe it’s easier for fans to accept the actions of these characters as they have no history… I also believe it’s time we as fans let go of lore and canon in the interests of creating new stories. How many versions of Spider-Man, Batman, Joker exist… we take each story as it’s presented. Some versions are more popular than others, origin stories vary and develop. Let’s just celebrate the stories….indeed if my friends and I went out for a night we would each tell the tale of that night differently the next day even though we were all there…
I always appreciate hearing Riley's Pro-TLJ explanation. I have never agreed nor enjoyed the film, but he goes about it the right way. For me, TLJ explored concepts that were intriguing and dense; however, did not work for the film. I thought the screenplay was too vapid for the weight of these ideas. The direction [performances, camera, tone] was disarranged and lacked a clear vision, especially when you compare to his other works like Knives Out, which was masterfully executed. I see no problem with people enjoying the film. To me, it is not a good movie. It was the right concept for the wrong story.
Good stuff Kristian, so happy to see you and Reilly. Good conversation about the sequel trilogy. The way I see it- I only like about 50% of both Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker, which isn’t enough to call them good movies. As fans, we shouldn’t have to bend over backwards trying to explain away the piss poor logic behind many of those plot points And completely agree- Andor is the best written SW since ESB.
100% would watch another Tales of the Jedi (or Sith ; ) before the Bad Batch. I enjoyed the Bad Batch! Just didnt really feel like i wanted/needed more of it. I will gladly watch it. But feel the same way as I would in if they do a season 2 of Boba or Kenobi. Just want something else. Cant wait for Ahsoka, Mando 3, Skeleton Crew, (nervously anxious on The Acolyte), and hopefully a movie sometime!
If they do ever do time travel in Star Wars I hope it's done through a method to where it's not literally someone jumping back in time and messing up events. It would have to be through a method to where they could see it through a vision or dream. To me if regular time travel made its way into this franchise I wouldn't like it.
great show today and I loved seeing Mark Reilly again on the show! I am really hopeful for the new star wars shows coming down the pipe for next year and if the writing is half as good as it was on Andor I think we in for a good string of shows coming out. I also am very excited to see if they will move into a new time period with the movies even though I love some of the stuff we are getting with the Mando timeline I am just really ready to move on to the future or way back in the past.
Thanks for the great show with Reilly. Hope you have a great new years. I think if that lady was the only issue in rise of skywalker I would be okay with her but on top of everything it add annoyance to me personally.
Peace bro. Great year for the show man I love it. Was so glad to find you.. you made me seek out top gun in a theater although it’s already been out for ever.. 👏🏿👏🏿👍🏽
Miss seeing Riley and Napzok talking Star Wars. I should look for what theyre up to now - are they still doing Good People Association or whatever that was? Just wish i had more time to keep up with everyone!
Love seeing Mark back and his love of TLJ. I've never quite understood the whole "Johnson didn't carry on what JJ set up" criticism of TFA. What exactly did JJ set up that Rian ignored? Luke is on an island and that's all we know, Johnson just came up for an idea to explain why, there was no setup or inkling of where that story might go. The mystery of Rey's lineage, Johnson also carries that onward and lets it remain a mystery. I understand killing Snoke in the 2nd film might've been unexpected, but would you rather CGI Snoke be the main antagonist of the 3rd film or Kylo? The end of TFA separates the characters, injures some, and is a pretty blank slate, Rian had to do a lot of heavy lifting and chose to go in the direction he felt was right, they hired him to do a job and he did it.
I gave a better review for Andor yesterday when a co-worker asked about it. I said, "It's the better written star wars show, great acting, great performances, great dialogue and deliveries. Beautifully shot, loved it being on location. It was just the pacing for me, for me, that brought it down. The week by week it took to gradually get to the next point just didn't do it, but otherwise, it's a really good show."
Tales of the Jedi AND Tales of the SIth should be inserted into Disney + multiple times a year. Its a wonderful format to use as (essentially) filler shows in between the larger Star Wars streaming series, but still tell wonderful stories, and keep folks engaged. Do it Lucasfilm!!!
Great show as always - Always a pleasure to listen to you and Mark talk Star Wars. Are you going to SW Celebration this year? Would be great to have a Sith Council show from the UK!!
I whole-heartedly support the fact that art is subjective. But two movies test my resolve. Transformers: The Last Knight and Episode 9: Rise of Skywalker
Hear me out on this. I love Ahsoka Tano, and I love that she’s still alive and getting her own series. Having said that, I think I would have preferred if her story ended in Rebels at the hands of Vader. It would be brutal, and heartbreaking and I think it would further Vader as a whole. Like I said, I’m ok with the fact that she lived, but idk, I think it would be poetic if up until Luke, Vader killed everyone who tried to turn him back
@@Mateocabrera2389 cause he’s Darth Vader. He kills people. Even when he finally does the right thing in the end, he kills someone. There’s good people who can do bad things and bad people who can do good things. Vader is that second one.
@matthewshort6912 If Anakin is a force ghost "supposedly " and is guiding ashoka through her show he would definitely have her right the timeline and fix Luke Skywalker future and destiny.
Hey Darth Harloff. The idea that a tie fighter can swoop in and stop Obi from finishing off Vader is good but there’s one problem with it. He needs to deliver the line “Goodbye Darth”. Cause that line is key in making the continuity of ANH better. 😎
Mr Riley himself..good to see you again my man..listen..lol..imo the biggest mistake is not going with the legends novels that have been ongoing since when the late 80s early 90s...I mean sooooo much lore and backstories...and the yuuzhan vong war..I mean Jesus...could have been spectacular...but that's just me cause I loved all of the legends stuff..why does every franchise seem to go to time travel..😂🤷
Reilly is one million percent right about the end with Kenobi vs Vader. Never in a billion years would Obi-Wan execute an unarmed person on their knees who is no longer a threat, let alone that person being his best friend. Just would never happen. That’s not to mention the force and what it was influencing Obi-Wan to do.
For Obi-Wan leaving Vader alive, just cut in Qui-Gon's voice saying 'He is the chosen one' or 'No, Obi-Wan' or something, and it fixes Kristian's (and my) problem with it, and still can leave a bit of what Riley sees in that scene. That could have eother been the first time we hear Qui-Gon in the series (change less), or they could have had Obi-Wan hearing his voice very occasionally, maybe in a way that leaves him questioning if its real or his imagination (perhaps only clips from the past, until this time is the first time we hear *new* dialogue, as an idea). This allows you to do this and still have a part of the story be him calling out to Qui-Gon with basically no answer, and give the end reveal of Qui-Gon finally actually coming to him as he is now 'ready to see'

Reilly!
If they do ever do time travel in Star Wars I hope it's done through a method to where it's not literally someone jumping back in time and messing up events. It would have to be through a method to where they could see it through a vision or dream.
To me if regular time travel made its way into this franchise I wouldn't like it.
Good to see the two of you together again. whats han without chewie, c-3po without
R2-D2, batman without robin,
Loved having Reilly on!
Bubba ray dudley without Devon dudley.. testify!!!
Great duo!! Missed this nerd 🤣 he's awesome
F yeah! Riley on the Counsel! a christmas miracle
great show today and I loved seeing Mark Reilly again on the show!
One thing is for sure, if Obi-Wan would have just killed Darth, Luke would've been able to go to Tosche Station to get those power converters.
FACTS
OMG!!!! I love seeing Mark Reilly! Excellent show!
Me too!!
What a gift to us to see you two together shooting the shit again 🥹
Yodiee! What a legend…#wewantmore
Please Disney just have a plan! Pen and paper before merchandising and release date.
What a great discussion and it was lovely to see Mark again
Great show as always guys. Thanks for the career update Mark and congrats! Best of luck! 1:05:36
Yodi!!!
Welcome back to the OG!
Miss seeing Riley and Napzok talking Star Wars. I should look for what theyre up to now - are they still doing Good People Association or whatever that was? Just wish i had more time to keep up with everyone!
I never wanted time travel in star wars but if it erases the sequels then yes
Thanos is literally CGI and great. You have CGI apes with Koba who was an incredible antagonist. That’s not a problem for a villain.
Love you, Reilly, you positive vibing sob! Ya just can’t dislike Reilly. 🙌🏿
Mark Yooooooooodiiiiiiiii Reillyyyyyyyy
Thanks for the content over the holidays. Have a great New Year 🎉
Same to you!
Yodi: what a legend. Great chat, lads. 👍
Loved seeing Reilly on here 😍
I gave a better review for Andor yesterday when a co-worker asked about it.
Reilly rules! Missed this guy!
So awesome to see you Mark!!! Hope you gentlemen have a happy and healthy new year!!! 🙂👍
You too!!
Ahsoka is maybe my favorite character. Certainly up there.
Great show as always - Always a pleasure to listen to you and Mark talk Star Wars. Are you going to SW Celebration this year? Would be great to have a Sith Council show from the UK!!
Great seeing you guys together. Brought back tons of nostalgia. But jeez, Disney Star Wars doesn't make me feel anything. It's a cover band.
Love having Riley back another amazing guest thank you for the content
I whole-heartedly support the fact that art is subjective. But two movies test my resolve.
Transformers: The Last Knight and Episode 9: Rise of Skywalker
I agree with Reilly. I know that was the best version of Luke, but we can’t change it. So I get it.
Great to see Yodi. Glad he’s doing well but I sure do miss seeing the Cantina!
Hear me out on this. I love Ahsoka Tano, and I love that she’s still alive and getting her own series. Having said that, I think I would have preferred if her story ended in Rebels at the hands of Vader. It would be brutal, and heartbreaking and I think it would further Vader as a whole. Like I said, I’m ok with the fact that she lived, but idk, I think it would be poetic if up until Luke, Vader killed everyone who tried to turn him back
Why should everyone die just to benefit Vader’s story. He has enough development.
I don't know how you can further yourself into no redemption after you slaughter a bunch of children.
Great episode, bring back the Yodi. And I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. It’s time to do a Superman the movie rewatch. Please
Love seeing Reilly, great show
Thanks!
Hey Darth Harloff. The idea that a tie fighter can swoop in and stop Obi from finishing off Vader is good but there’s one problem with it. He needs to deliver the line “Goodbye Darth”. Cause that line is key in making the continuity of ANH better. 😎
So happy seeing Yodi again!!
Also yes time travel to 5 years after Endor. Whack snoke and avoid this whole thing
great seeing Reilly!
Wooooo! FINALLY you got Yodi on Sith Council....now, you can discuss...a great, many...things!!! Missed you alot Mark!!! Welcome back...sort of. Lol🤣🤣
I agree, that lore was so rich. Lots to draw from.
