"It's going to be quite a year".
    Understatement of the century!
The year 1968 was probably the most eventful year in human history; definitely the most eventful of the 20th century.

Possibly the worst year since the Civil War.

When I was going to story school in 1968 me and my friends would talk about this election between Nixon and Humphrey walking home from school we would have discussed what policies and what would they do if elected in 68

Born in 1958 and grew up in the 60's. What I loved most was that I played outside with the neighborhood children!

ABC news was so much better when Harry Reasoner and Howard K. Smith were leading the way. Barbara Walter's came along and wrecked the entire picture. Roone Arledge made a huge boo boo.

      Barbara Walters was a dumbell!

      Alan Strong I think you’re a chauvinist

      @@sherryhannah9262: So he’s a chauvinist. You’re a female and obviously pro-female!
Furthermore you’re blind. Babba Waawaa was a dumbell. She was at those early times a politically correct token female chosen as an anchor when women were forcing the issue of sexual diversity in the newsroom.
Several years ago an aging Waters sat with genius George Will and others on presidential election night panel and sat there completely ignorant! It was sickening!

      What about Peter Jennings???

    • @roberttelarket4934
      @roberttelarket4934 2 года назад

@@k_np04: Jennings was very good but way too liberal! Too bad he died of cancer so young.
Cronkite of CBS was all right but I really didn’t like him.
Charlie Gibson was way too nice. A really great guy not really fit for the position that’s why he probably left after I think 3 years.
      I loved Huntley and Brinkley!
Also I loved John Chancellor of NBC, my favorite!

Nifty flashback promotional ad. Too bad that the 1968 election year turned out to be one of the messiest campaign years. Who would have thought that the US would have wound up with Tricky Dicky as the new president? Hard to tell if the election year of 2016 was a more messier election year than 1968.

1968 was not a very good year! I was 18 then.
