My budgie was acting completely normal singing eating, drinking just like every other day, no signs of illness at all!! She was out of the cage with me doing some training when she all of a sudden perched on my arm and went to sleep, thought it was kinda weird but just thought she was tired so i put her back in her cage on her favorite perch. 20min later she was on the bottom of the cage dying. I talked to her softly telling her it was ok, because I knew it was the end and there was nothing i could do. So about 2 minutes went by and she passed away peacefully. Whatever it was she went from being a normal happy bird, 30min later dead. Just keep that in mind when adopting or buying a bird. Sht happens and sometimes it happens quick. R.I.P Yolandi ❤❤❤

I don't understand all these people in the comment section who are like, "my bird seems to be having these unhealthy symptoms. What should I do??" *Duh, you take your bird to the vet.* Did you not hear the doc say that birds are very good at hiding symptoms of illness? (Which is pretty common knowledge among bird owners.) So if you're actually seeing the symptoms, then your bird no longer has the energy to hide them. In other words; the bird is sick and probably has been for much longer than you realize. Birds are fragile creatures and can die from illness rather quickly. Take him/her to the vet, asap, and hope that he/she survives!

Zechariah Adam I’m sorry if this sounds rude, but when you’re getting a companion as fragile and as costly as a a bird, you need to consider beforehand if you can not only afford the price of that animal itself but the price of it in the long run. If you cannot afford to give a bird the healthcare it needs but can afford the bird itself, you might want to reconsider. If I wanted to adopt a child but could only afford the adoption process and knew I wouldn’t be able to bring that kid to a doctor if he had a life threatening illness or if he was just sick then I don’t need to be taking a child into my care.

I love birds & I hope she's okay. Watching videos of cockatiels actually make me sad inside. I used to have 2 male cockatiels, we had to put one down & we gave the other one to a friend. This little cutie reminds me of Pepsi, the one that had to be put down. I don't want to talk about it because I'll get depressed. He was my best animal friend & talking about his death tears me apart.

My cockatiel died tonight... she just went on her side and slowly stopped breathing.. we brought her to the Vet and she was put on oxygen but she for whatever reason just left us. We only had her for a few weeks and she was only a few months old, but damn we got so attached to her already and now we're completely broken hearted.
We are getting her examined so in a day or two we'll know why she died.

I HAVE been asked about exposure of this bird to teflon fumes. I am and was well aware of that possibility in the differential diagnosis for this bird and quickly ruled it out. Death from Teflon fume exposure usually occurs in less than 1 hour from time of exposure.

That's exactly how mine is acting. We already have an appointment for her tomorrow but I'm worried sick. Everything I've read says that she can be treated easily and recover. I know that's probably true, but still. I'm letting her rest in a heating pad and she seems to enjoy the warmth. I would hold her myself, but she kind of hates me, even after 5 years. Last time something like this happened, a different female of mine had a prolapse at around 10 pm. We drove 3 hours to the nearest emergency vet that sees birds. At 5 am we got back home and buried her. At 8 I took my final exam for an honors english class. That night was awful, and tonight will be too. I can't go to the vet with her, so I'm going to watch over her tonight. It's not like I will be able to sleep anyway.

I found a Kookaburra in my yard yesterday, it had trouble flying (weakness). That the time it was able to hold itself up. I placed it undercover and draped a rag over it for the evening. This morning I found it all limp like it was dead. It couldn't support it's own weight, just totally floppy but was alive. I took it inside & put it in a cardboard box bundled in its rag for warmth. I squirted waterin its beak every few hours. Breathing only got shallower. It can open its eyes but seems paralised. It doesa little sqwark with a jolty movement every now & then. Dunno if it's Psitticosis or something else.

I'm not sure if my bird is sick or not. She's always been a quiet bird and isn't very friendly, her feathers are clean there's no discharge (nasal or eye) her vent is clean and her stool is relatively normal (lots of urine, eurates are present but because of the urine you can't really see it). She eats normally and loves treats (millet). I wonder if she's sick because when she sleeps she sort of rocks back and forth a little, her crest goes up a bit too. She's around 11 years old, her mate (a budgie) passed away about a year ago (at 10 years old) she's been alone since. I haven't noticed a change in behavior, she's been this way for at least 2 years so i'm unsure if that's just the way she is or if she's ill. We can't take her in for a checkup because she freaks out really badly (hissing, shaking, labored breathing) and I don't want to give her a heart attack or something, we're also drowning in our two dog's vet bills after they both passed away just a month apart.

Hello, not sure if you'll see this now. I noticed your last video was quite a few years ago but I'm hoping you could help me. I'm hoping you see this and answer me back. I have two cockatiels that were diagnosed with an overgrowth bacterial infection. One (Rayito diagnosed first) showed symptoms before the other. So one was taken to the vet first on Nov. 18th and was given metoclopramide, cerenia, and doxycycline injections as well as fluids and was given meloxicam and metoclopramide, as well as another antibiotic to give orally for 10 days but then my other cockatiel (Palomito seen second) started showing the same symptoms. He was taken to the vet on 20th. They diagnosed him with the same thing and was instructed to be on the same oral medications. They were not doing so well, Palomito was doing pretty bad, the vomiting never stopped. I called and they told me to keep Palomito off the oral meds for 24hrs to see if he would stop vomiting but then had to be taken because was an emergency at that point because he was vomiting the entire day on the 23rd without being able to keep any food down. Rayito was taken too since he had also vomited but was not as much as Palomito.
They were taken back on Tuesday 24th. They were given metoclopramide, cerenia, and doxycycline injections as well as fluids again for both. The Dr. said to stop oral medication for 24hrs and resume only with meloxicam and metoclopramide and continue with the course that was instructed on the bottles for both. They did not throw up at all on Tuesday (25th) and Wednesday (26th) until Thursday, Palomito did start again. Palomito threw up twice, once at 5 and then around 10 right after giving him his meds.
I promise that I am not doing it too fast or pressing the crop or neck when administering. I am doing drop by drop and holding them firm but gently, yet Palomito vomited. It was after the meds the second time he threw up on Thursday. He also vomited again the morning after his meds.
It is not regurgitation at each other or an object. He was expelling his food violently and shaking his head in a violent manner when he did it, where it gets all over his face and body.
I called again and they told me to just stop oral medication to rule out stress from too much manhandling. They did not vomit all day on the 29th of Nov. They had another appointment the following day and even though Palomito was starting to look better he again vomited on the 30th.
Palomito was doing so much better and was going back to his normal self after stopping medications but now he started with the regurgitation again. Rayito is the one that is worrying me. He seemed to have diarrhea, he didn't vomit on Sunday at all but he has had an increase of watery droppings, it was very excessive and it was also very strong in smell, pretty foul too. He was doing better but now he just looks like he is doing bad again like in the beginning. Its been almost 2 weeks and I feel like they make progress but then go back to not doing so well and I'm not sure what it could be.
Did the antibiotics cause what I think is diarrhea in Rayito and the excessive vomiting in Palomito? Do they need probiotics or extra supplements that have vitamins and minerals? Or is the bacterial infection still in their system?
I am no vet but I really think Palomito didn't like to take his meds or was it more serious and he was having a reaction to the medicine when given by mouth? Would that even be possible.
They both had seemed to made some progress but the time-line is so wonky that I don't even know what's normal and if they truly are getting better.
I know they've made some progress but I know they're not 100% and somehow they keep going back to not being well. I'm wondering if it's possible that this is no longer a bacterial infection and they developed something else due to the medication?
Or is the issue more severe than what they were originally diagnosed with?
Or is this now too advanced (since I know birds tend to hide their symptoms until they are severely ill) that it is just taking them longer to get better from this infection? Will they get better if it's this advanced?
I'm just concerned for my babies because I feel that its been too long already and you're really knowledgeable and I was hoping that you would help by reading this.
Tomorrow they will be taken to the vet again to be observed but I just want your take on this and maybe I can bring your opinion to my cockatiels vet. Please and thank you!

@eoinfffp In my opinion the disease is far more common that diagnosed and recognised and considered by most doctors. It is very easy for it to be dismissed as something it isn't and people have died from "lung cancer" that was actually chronic psittacosis on necropsy. If any bird keeping friends get chronically ill, especially if affecting lungs, they should always ask for multiple BIRD chlamydia tests and/or treatment trial for chlamydia pending other tests or remote quantum evaluations (yes)

Awe.. Poor thing, so far I have had a total of 3 cockiteils and only 1 has survived. The first named Blusher died of an unknown cause, we never suspected it. Because when we brought her she was acting like this, we thought it was normal for her. But now I know other wise, we found her dead in her cage a few hours after she died. I've been keeping an eye on my final bird called Sugar, he doesn't seem ok. But I'm a kid and I cant afford any large vet Bill's, does anyone know a disease or illness that discourages a bird to fly? Sugar hasn't been flying lately, hes never been a huge flyer but now I'm thinking of what happened to Blusher that we never knew about, and it was there all along. Does anyone know about this and if so what's the illnesses name? Also Sugar has *Never* had any problems with his wings, (I.e no injuries or that). Anyway thank you!

Balcony and my unknown sex bird tasted a little of bird shit than tasted the cleaning wood to make it shiny. I know this is bad for his health, yet I saw him in the night when I was fixing their cage she started gasping for air probably because she choked on a seed since I got them new food? Do you think it's from food or from the wooden polish or a product like that for the balcony.

    Hi,
Yes, as well as fever. See your GP (and also a vet to get your bird checked out) - The GP will generally prescribe 'Doxy-100' DoxyCycline antibiotic tablets for you over the course of a week, and the avian vet well give your birds two injections (one one week, one the next), and prescribe oral antibiotics to place in it's water for the next few weeks
Please get your bird checked out too, psittacosis is deadly (and very painful) birds

Hi, Dr. Ross, I have mini Macaw parrot, 4 days ago he started showing some sickness symptoms like fatigue and weakness but he was eating fine I took him to couple veterinarian all of them said he looks fine and I don't have to worry. two days ago the bird became very sick and hardly could stand or walk around, I tried to feed him and he was eating yet having a hard time to stand due to shaking. I took him to couple veterinarian and all they could say is to find an expert bird veterinarian and I couldn't find any around me. A friend of my told me to add some garlic to some water and let him drink it and to put him in a warm place and I did like he suggested. When I woke up in the morning today the bird was little better than last night, he started to walk, stand more and he eats better, yet am worried about him, please what can I do to him and whats wrong with him?

Remote pet health advice and help
Veterinary Law internationally and locally makes it illegal for vets to give advice without having physically examined the animal recently and /or without being asked for another opinion by a vet who has done so. I can take my veterinary hat off and work as a scientific dowser using a series of charts I have created including diseases, drugs, body parts etc of people and a range of animals including dogs, birds and cats remotely tune into your pet's quantum energy field and evaluate answers on an exponential scale from 0 to positive 180 and 0 to negative 180 re status, wisdom, vitality etc. This work costs $70/15 minutes payable to drrossperry1@gmail.com via paypal or direct transfer to Perrecca P/L NAB Bank BSB 082330 account number 516897373. You need to transfer at least $70 in advance of my work as a deposit. (Email me as soon as you have done so!) I can also do transformative invocations and evaluate the almost immediate changes that occur with many of the above parameters. The wisdom of giving various drugs, remedies and courses of action can also be evaluated.
None of this work is a veterinary diagnosis, veterinary advice or veterinary treatment.
It is a remote reading of probabilities and possibilities as determined by scientific dowsing. I would anticipate 30-60 minutes work for full work up etc. tho you/we should have a good idea of probabilities and possibilities in first 15 minutes.
You can Skype video call DoctorRossPerry while I m doing it and I provide a summary print out of key findings within the time available.
Let me know your pet's name and send me at least one preferably more macro photos and/or videos of aspects of your pet and a detailed history of veterinary care so far if at all possible if you want to proceed.
      Blessings, Ross Perry

I can take my veterinary hat off and work as a scientific dowser using a series of charts I have created including diseases, drugs, body parts etc of people and a range of animals including dogs, birds and remotely tune into your bird's quantum energy field and evaluate answers on an exponential scale from 0 to positive 180 and 0 to negative 180 re status, wisdom, vitality etc. This work costs $70 for up to first 15 minutes with the first 15 minutes pre=paid, payable to drrossperry1@gmail.com via paypal or direct transfer to Perrecca P/L NAB Bank BSB 082330 account number 516897373 and thereafter $65/15 minutes or part thereof.

My cockatiel has two lump things on her oil glands, I rescued her a few years ago from a hoarder, she is inbred with 40 other cockatiels, she's pretty healthy and acts healthy, just worried if its a tumor or what, I don't have money to take her to the vet and it was getting better when I supplied with molting stuff to help her molt but now its back again and I don't know what it is or what to do?? Can you help??

My female cockatiel has chlamydia and she is drinking water with enroxyl for 2 weeks and we have 2 more to go. She is very active and happy now. I'm sick with pneumonia because of it. Is recovery always successful?

    • @DoctorRossPerry
      @DoctorRossPerry  5 лет назад

With appropriate treatment and support the great majority of people and birds recover. However delays can lead to fatality. Enroxyl is not a prime treatment for chlamydia. Of the orthodox pharmaceutical treatments Doxycycline for 30 to 45 days is standard treatment. However I personally use "treatments" that transcend the orthodox. However I am not a doctor (medical) and when working remotely work as a spiritual scientific dowser and invocator. Remote help 1.
For me to help you remotely without physical examination of your bird and microscopic examination of a crop wash and faecal smear I need to tune into your bird psychically and ascertain what issues are affecting your bird. I do this by scientifically dowsing one or more of a series of charts I have constructed each with nearly 120 potential answers on it. I do this with a pendulum. I then measure the issues on my exponential chart and address them in the first instance by focused transformational invocations. I then redowse what issues remain and if necessary address the wisdom of various treatments supplements and other courses of action. I call this process scientific spiritual dowsing and invocations. It costs $70 for the first 15 minutes paid preferably by Paypal to drrossperry1@gmail.com. Any subsequent time is $65/15 minutes. I ask you to send me photographs and names of your bird. If you really want to comprehend what I do and can do remotely please read www.goldcoastbirdvet.com/dowsing-from-the-heart.html. Blessings, Ross Perry

Hello, I have a rescued boy cockatiel I am not sure of his age, but he is definitely fully grown. He has been pooping in his water bowl, so I got him some bird vitamins, he already eats veggies, fruit, millet, seed, but I am wondering why he has been pooping in it still even after changing the diet. His tail had also been bobbing which makes me worried that he is sick. I don't have the money for a vet but I get advice from them when he gets his tail feathers trimmed once in a while. What should I do ?? Please someone help I love my baby so much I just want him to be healthy and happy since he has anxiety problems from his past

    • @DoctorRossPerry
      @DoctorRossPerry  5 лет назад

The tail bobbong indicates serious disease, of which there are many potential causes. Perhaps the most common is Chlamydia psittaci infection in which case he will need 30-45 days of doxycycline in his only source of drinking water or perhaps alternatively ZeoActiv8. He might also benefit from Frankincense diffusion for up to 1 hour 3 to 4 x a day. YOU can email drrossperry1@gmail.com if you are prepared to pay me $70 for a remote scientific spiritual dowsing session. Blessings, Ross

Akash, The price you pay for a pet does not relate to my fees or knowledge unless I let it. The value you attach to your bird does not have to relate to the value you paid for it. Time is the most valuable asset we have. I put a value on it. Be that as it may, I give some advice free as a service, as we all do. And I do discount sometimes. Many cockatiels love eating chilli, as I do. Remote bird health advice and help

Did you ever find out why your bird had those symptoms? That's what my Pepper was doing too. It started one day, like turning on a switch. then 3wks later he passed, which was Sunday July 20th 2014, 3:30pm. I was so hurt and mad. No one would help me, or suggestions, or allow me to get medicine for him. He was full of life. Then suddenly started showing signs of the same, Sneezing a lot, and sleeping a lot, and breathing with his mouth open and day by day had gotten weaker. He started breathing better I thought. I had to help him eat & drink close to the end. He gave up. I wish I could have gotten him help. He was over 20 yrs old, and I know would have grown older had this not happened. And we just moved to an aprtmnt, so I wonder if this place didn't cause it somehow. Anyway I was curious if you found anything out for why. Snow.

you have made one mistake after another and repeated this process several times. Get Doctor Ross Perry's Cockatiel Book or E-book asap and read and understand it and get the male bird examined and tested by an avian vet if available asap. Otherwise consider>Remote bird health advice and help
Veterinary Law internationally and locally makes it illegal for vets to give advice without having physically examined the animal recently and /or without being asked for another opinion by a vet who has done so.
Perhaps you can ask your vet for a referral to me to explore holistic options for helping your bird(s)?
      or
I can take my veterinary hat off and work as a scientific dowser using a series of charts I have created including diseases, drugs, body parts etc of people and a range of animals including dogs, birds and remotely tune into your bird's quantum energy field and evaluate answers on an exponential scale from 0 to positive 180 and 0 to negative 180 re status, wisdom, vitality etc. This work costs $65/15 minutes with the first 15 minutes pre=paid, payable to drrossperry1@gmail.com via paypal or direct transfer to Perrecca P/L NAB Bank BSB 082330 account number 516897373. I can also do transformative invocations and evaluate the almost immediate changes that occur with many of the above parameters.
Let me know your bird's name and send me at least one preferably more macro photos and/or videos of aspects of your bird and a detailed history of veterinary care so far if at all possible if you want to proceed.

+Sarah Naomi Part of being a pet owner is knowing better than getting a pet if you know you will not be able to afford at least basic emergency vet care. I'm not going to tell you to be prepared to spend thousands of dollars on a cockatiel, which could happen if he needed long term special care -- but you should have access to a couple hundred, minimum, for EMERGENCIES so that if a condition you cannot afford to treat comes up, you can at least stabilize the bird long enough to find a rescue to take him and treat him, or another family who will adopt the expensive-needs bird. Either that, or you should not own a cockatiel to begin with.I don't mean to be harsh, but it's not fair to the animal.

Nonyam. They often have predisposing factors that increase their susceptibility to infection including overcrowding, juvenile with little immunity, malnutrition, and exposure to infected birds. Chlamydia can be acquired through breathing in the Chlamydia organisms from a nearby infeccted bird or from dust that is contaminated with poop from and infected bird, or from swallowing the organisms from poop or snot contaminated food or water.

Poor guy, I hope he pulled through - Our greater sulphur crested cockatoo had psittacosis, we almost lost her. We woke up one morning to find one of her eyes swollen and half shut (seemed fine the evening before, and she was still very active that morning!)
She needed quite a few DoxyCycline injections over two months, and our other birds were put on Psittavet just in-case. Surprisingly, we actually caught the illness from her, and we also had to take Doxycycline tablets!

    Dr.Ross,
My cockatiel is not moving, he sits on the edge of his water bowl. He gets defensive if I put a finger by him. I had him for close to a. Month now. He had this weird behavior since yesterday. *A cat was trying to get him through the cage. The cat does the same thing with the budgies so most of them die from heart attacks. I swear if I find that cat I will stab it to death.* I think it’s because of a traumatic experience. There are no vets nearby. I really need your help doctor. I will get medicine... thank you.

What makes you presume I put the newspaper in the cage? This is obviously the transport cage in which the bird was brought to me and as you correctly state the newspaper is a source of poisons. I talk about this in other youtube DoctorRossPerry videos and in my book I suggest you get at GoldCoastBirdVet dotcom called "Caring for Birds with Love and Gratitude". How many and which disease issues are contributing to your bird's liver disease? There are often many! Consider getting my remote help.
