I wish we still had Robin. I think of the movie What dreams may come when I think of his passing. I hope he found a beautiful world like that on the otherside
I love these compilations. And I love this show. It’s all about interesting people, avoids politics, and makes us see where we’re all alike. And we need that in this country, now more than ever.
the worlds not the same without the insane, crazy antics and laughter brought forth by robin williams!! not the same at all and sidney poitier was such a dignified class act who was one of a kind. may they both rest in the arms of angels.
Regarding Hollywood legends Gene Hackman and Jessica Lange, let me tell you about their special impact on my life... John Guillermin's King Kong (1976) and Richard Donner's Superman (1978)... These two films were seminal cinematic moments of my youth growing up in the late 1970's, and helped me solidify my love and passion for movies... Gene Hackman and Jessica Lange were, by association, obviously a very big part of that happiness... I am forever thankful. In fact, King Kong and Superman, along with Star Wars (1977), The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), and Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), were the first five "real" movies that I saw in the theatre that weren't "Disney kiddie dreck", and the films that opened my young eyes to what "true" filmmaking was really all about. Aside from John Guillermin and Richard Donner, directors such as George Lucas, Lewis Gilbert, and Steven Spielberg were the first to pave the way... And aside from actors including Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Roger Moore, and Richard Dreyfuss, actors such as Gene Hackman and Jessica Lange were two of the (then) very small handful of actors to first guide me through this new journey of film appreciation... 1976-1978 were very happy and influential years for this 10-12 year old movie-going kid... Yes, sir... Those memories are literally burned into my soul and the very core of my being... Good times!. I had the good fortune to meet Gene Hackman, along with Daniel Lenihan, when they were doing a local book signing for "Wake of the Perdido Star" when it first came out in early 2000... I got to exchange a few brief words with Hackman and get his autograph. He was very nice. What a thrill that was! Hackman is one of my all-time favorite actors... The French Connection 1 & 2, The Poseidon Adventure, The Converstation, Superman 1 & 2... Powerhouse performances!... I will never forget seeing Superman in the theatre in 1978 when I was 12 years old... Director Richard Donner, producer Alexander Salkind, composer John Williams, and actors Christopher Reeve, Margot Kidder, and Gene Hackman really gave me something very special and magical with that timeless and perfect film... I came out of that movie awestruck, and I still haven't quite come down from that moment... I cherish it to this very day... By the way, I noticed that Gene Hackman just celebrated his 94th birthday a few weeks ago on January 30th... "Wow... Happy Birthday, sir!" Jessica Lange was absolutely adorable in Kong. A true "beauty" and a gifted new talent...and the "beast" in the movie was pretty great, too (that was make-up genius Rick Baker in that suit!). King Kong is a very underrated gem... Masterful John Guillermin direction, expert Dino De Laurentis producing, fantastic John Barry music, and great Jeff Bridges, Jessica Lange, and Charles Grodin performances... I will always remember going to see Kong in the theatre in 1976 when I was 10 years old... One of the best movie-going experiences of my very young life,...It was the first "epic" movie that I had ever seen on the big screen (Star Wars was still five months away!), and I still hold it very dear to me. Not to mention the fact that Jessica Lange may very well have been the very first "crush" that I ever had! ... She totally lit up the screen in that movie (or, as Bridges' character said in the film, she "shines"). Talk about "Beauty & Brains", she's got 'em both! The film careers of Oscar winners Gene Hackman and Jessica Lange are beyond impressive, and their acting ranges and the characters that they have embodied are wide and varied... But for me, Gene Hackman will always be, first and foremost, Lex Luthor, criminal mastermind, and the Man of Steel's number one arch-enemy... And for me, Jessica Lange will always be, first and foremost, Dwan, beautiful aspiring starlet, and King Kong's girlfriend... Dwan... D-W-A-N... You know... like "Dawn"... except with two letters switched... to make it more memorable. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PS: If you haven't seen the extended 3-hour TV versions of King Kong and/or Superman, I highly recommend that you do so... They are both available on Blu-ray... More Kong... More Superman... and more Jessica Lange and Gene Hackman to boot! If you haven’t seen Gene Hackman in Birdcage, it’s a must see; I laughed for weeks after seeing him in drag , the funniest 😂 thing was that I didn’t realize it was him until I asked someone where he was‼️😂😂
Jessica Lange is a very great consumate, gifted, talented and who has perfected her learned skills. She said that Kim Stanley was the greatest actress in the world. This is so very true. She also worked with her for many years when Kim was her acting coach. Kim Stanley also co-stared with her in the very great film "Frances". Kim was absolutely great and electrifying in her performance and was nominated for a Oscar. Jessica Lange performance was also nominated for a Oscar for best actress. It was so hypnotic watching these two act and perform together. 😱🤗🥰♥️
As a retired RN, the scene in the movie Terms of Endearment is the most powerful act on screen where someone is being a Patient Advocate. Having been on both sides of that, as a nurse and a daughter, I sincerely hope people who see the movie, or even just this clip, understand and take control of being your own advocate or an advocate of someone you love. Do. Not. Stand. Down. Stand up for yourself and the people you love. Don’t be intimidated by doctors or nurses! They/we are humans just like you.
There's so much work to do friends...if we care to have FAITH and follow the God's will, we have to live hundred years more... having fun like teenagers full of life, like luckiest movie stars, therefore everybody's invited enjoy cinema shows & feel just fine for a while, fans love youuuuu guys, wishing actors never get tired performing and entertain us... bringing a tribute those who passed away, people we love never die at all 😢😢😢
She makes having short hair chic and appealing..... I loved her and Anne Bancroft in 'The Turning Point's.....Anne Bancroft was going to replay her role in The Graduate in the Jennifer Aniston film 'Rumour has it'....but she got sick and Shirley stepped into the role!
Gene Hackman is mentioned for his movie The Conversation. I wonder if it is anything like Her, or any of the hacks in movies for computers, including the one where the Pentagon is hacked. Haxman needs to hear about this!
“They call me Mr. Tibbs “. Poitier-such a beautiful man, such a beautiful soul.
Hi movies were stellar and classic.
Sidney Poitier had me crying. Reading is such a gift, and he knows it, and worked so hard.
God is so good
What an amazing life, a role model for us all. Thank you sir
Love Jessica Lange in everything ❤
Sidney superb !
Jessica Lange is a legend. Such a force! But she's also very adorable, easy to fall in love with. A rare combination
Jessica Lange is absolutely adorable. I love her persona. ❤
I wish we still had Robin. I think of the movie What dreams may come when I think of his passing. I hope he found a beautiful world like that on the otherside
Robin Williams... I am left with a hole in my heart 😢
A Robin-shaped hole in all of our hearts.
Just love Gene Hackman and his babies ❤️
"Otis... Feed the babies"
I like everything she does ….The Music Box is incredible
I love these compilations. And I love this show. It’s all about interesting people, avoids politics, and makes us see where we’re all alike. And we need that in this country, now more than ever.

Why is it that commercials are so loud and the program is so quiet? Is it RUclips?
@CharlotteFairchild I have the commercial free RUclips but this is done every day on regular TV/Cable.
@@roxanneb6208 I was a Dee-jay from 1981-1984. I think it was common for records to be quiet.

Correction *Sir Sidney Poitier
@fencing242 I apologize for not including that title in my post.
Although inexplicable, somehow I've always felt like Shirley MacLaine was a friend of mine.
Looks Ok to moi 🏵

Is this the same as Thelma and Louise part 2?

The one about robin williams broke me to tears. He was so hopeful for the future, but depression got the best of him
No.Depression did not get the better of him.He developed an incurable disease that happened to be a brain disease. So unfortunate.
I LOVE POTIER!
