Holy crap $217 a night at the k.o.a. I am glad I am retired military. I get to stay at the campground on the naval station key west for $30.00 a night or $700 a month with full hook-up water front. 3 nights at the K.o.a cost what I pay a month.
Thanks Robert! This brought back so many memories! I lived in the Keys for 10 months next door to the Sugarloaf KOA and I worked at the Key West Citizen. I evacuated due to Hurricane Irma and left the Keys at that time for more northern points! WOW! That KOA really has upgraded and expanded from what it was! I also really enjoyed going to Bahia Honda State Park and snorkeling on the many beaches there! I love your Florida Keys vids! They're what brought me to the channel several years ago and I love seeing the Keys through your eyes! There's so many unique places that you haven't even explored!!! "...Key West's unique architecture..." as he drives by the strip club!! 🤣🤣 Just a correction, too...what you called Smathers Beach was actually Higgs Beach. Smathers is a little further down the road. Thanks again for a fantastic visit to Key West!! I miss being there every single day!!
We are in Key West as I'm writing this, parking the RV at Naval Air Station Key West, available to all military. Getting ideas of what to do and see on our first trip to "The Conch Republic."
I think these last two videos are your best Key West videos so far! You did a little bit of everything and I really enjoyed both videos. Great job Robert! 👍
I do love your Florida Keys vlogs Robert, past and present. Such a beautiful part of the World and you capture it so well. 10/10 every time. Love from the UK 👍 🌅
I love all of your videos, but I think the Key West videos are my favorite! Especially when I’m sitting in Northern IL staring at snow and 20 deg weather!
Ah, Sunday morning in Key West...just another day in Paradise, eh? At 7:30 you drove past Duval House, the place I stayed my first time in Key West. Taking the virtual walk around town with you brings back so many memories...with the added bonus of no humidity 🙂. Until next time, happy trails!
Another great vid Robert. I like how you compose your own music too. It’s truly an original. Never get tired of watching your vids. You get me through tough times Brother.
My husband and I have been to Key West nine times, planning for our 10th trip this year. I LOVE this video, Robert! You stopped in at some of our favorite places! The next time you stop in at Waterfront Brewery, if you haven't had them before, order the hot pretzels with in-house-made beer cheese. It's our favorite menu item there. Also, our big splurge for our last night is always Alonzo's for king crab legs. They're expensive, but so worth it! We spoil ourselves when we go down. Can't wait for the next video, but your Florida Keys videos, especially your Key West videos, will always be my favorites!
$218 a night, I had to rewind to make sure I saw that right.Even with the 10% off for rewards members, they don't have to worry about riff raff like myself ever staying there. Gorgeous as always.
I stayed at the KOA in Sugarloaf key in 2022. It was a great campground. It was a little pricey as all things in KeyWest are. I just noticed thatwe stayed in the exact same campsite that you did. I really liked it. It was close to the pool and convenient to the marina. Overall, it was a very nice campground.
Nice video Robert. Kristine and I visited the Keys this past February for a few days. We didn't have our Winnie Minnie 5th wheel with us, but we stilled enjoyed it.
It’s crazy that Pepe place looks so sad now, they use to be so busy in previous videos and even when I went down in 2021 it seemed “normal”. For the price of those mojitos that band should have more people. Anyway love your videos Robert!
Great video Robert, I was down in the keys and key west for the first time about a week before you. It's a great place, I'll be coming back again later this year again. Keep up the great Florida videos.
One of my favourite tours seen it several times and each time is unique, I don't recall seeing that tour anywhere else! And even if there wouldn't enjoy it, the place is awesome and you make it even better with your rich information, your captivating narration, soothing music and kind spirit. Dale! Adelante! With love.
Wow key West sure has gotten popular , dont remember it being that busy back in 1993 and there was no line to get a picture at the southern most point , still kind a nice but not my thing anymore , thanks for for taking me back memory lane a little , O yeah and I noticed the Red Garter establishment lol, do have some memories there lol.
It's been a few years since we went to Key West. It's definitely an experience like no other and we absolute loved it. I'm new here and looking forward to following your adventures.
Welcome! You will LOVE Robert's videos! He is always so thorough and gives his honest opinions on things. He'll have a place recommended, stop in and come out saying that he was not impressed. Saves the rest of us money when we visit those same cities/islands which is greatly appreciated.
My daughter & I went to Key West 2 yrs ago & loved it. Last week we both went on a cruise to the Virgin Islands & Bahamas & one moment while there your song “Key West” popped into our heads & we started singing it. Lol We will definitely go back to Key West soon!
Enjoyed your Key West travelogue. I lived there for 12 years (my Freshwater Conch certificate is around here somewhere) in the '80s and '90s, and would like to offer a few things: • In all my time there, I never heard anything about the ubiquitous chickens being descended from cockfighting birds. That may be something new from the Chamber of Commerce. 😉 • The bar above the Bull is the Whistle, not the WhistleR. • I can't believe you've been to KW 20 times and have, if I understood correctly, never yet gone to Mel Fisher's. He was a true treasure hunter and the story of his efforts to, and ultimate discovery of, a mother lode of sunken treasure off the Keys are astounding. Next time, go see the many pieces of treasure - gold, silver, emeralds, more - that were brought up and are now on display, and learn the incredible story. • The natives don't call themselves conchs because of the Conch Republic "secession", and is why the name Conch Republic was picked. That goes back generations, named for the beautiful (and protected) queen conch, so the name Conch Republic comes from that. • Factoid: What is now called Sunset Key used to be called Christmas Tree Island, back when it was completely undeveloped. The name was changed when the realtors got hold of it. • Next time you go, PLEASE make time to eat lunch or dinner at least once at El Siboney (the original in Old Town at the corner of Catherine and Margaret - I don't know anything about the newer one on Stock Island) for THE BEST authentic Cuban food. Again, thanks for the travelogue. It was fun and I could see a LOT of work went into it!
Hello Traveling Robert😊😊🍔🍔🎷🎷🎸🎸🍔🍔🍟🍟🎉🎉, this was an AMAZING video and it brings back great memories of my time in beautiful Key West 2 years ago. I may just visit Key West again someday. Awesome Video Robert👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍!
Thanks for the great memories of Key West. I first went their in 1978.I had a great time their .I am from Fort Wayne,Indiana The fist thing that I did stupid was lock my keys in my car.Nice video to bring back the good memories. The rest of that trip was a great vacation.
Crazy I seen the same chairs and table me and my sister sat at in MalloryS Square!!! No place on earth like Key West and everyone seems so happy and if you go there you’ll see why !!!!😉
Hi Robert nice video. l love key west and showing around the area. U should go to East Side Martillo musuem its in key west florida. They have so much history there. That song key west is always my favorite. Thanks Robert for the video and l enjoy it. Take care my friend😎 🌴
Beautiful sunsets and gorgeous views. We’ve added Key West to our must visit list for next year. I liked the KOA you visited also. Thank you Robert for sharing.
Nice to be back in Key West! You feel like a little bit of home when your in Key West. This is where the Cuban cigar factories were before they moved to Tampa. I love it! Thanks again Robert.
We went last February and had a blast. One of the best treats is the KeyLime Pie dipped in chocolate on a stick. We went out on the boat to see the reef. My kids went fishing and jet skiing. So much to do there. Love to go back soon! Next time stay at a camp ground.
Hi Rob, Yet another great episode. It is so nice to see your lovely wife again. Travelling with your wife must make where you tree is across America, all that much better. Kind regards from Adelaide, South Australia.
Your adventures are always amazing, and you show us to the wonders of traveling. We have been following you for a good many years and we have finally partially retired! Early on with our annual vacations, we traveled the 48 states camping and hiking when the kids when they were young in a van with a tent and many times pulling our popup! Just another quick note, we love your Micro Minnie RV so much, that we met the Winnebago folks at the Tampa's RV Show and received a great deal -- we did mention how wonderful your shows are, but we didn't get an added discount :). We also enjoyed talking of you and all your adventures! Thanks Robert and keep the wonderful videos coming and we always look forward to the next one. If someone ask, yes, we did buy the Micro Minne after seeing you in action in yours!
It’s been a while since we were in Key West. Love that place! We did the ghost tour and that was very fun. I would love to stay on the island in our camper.
I would so love to go to Key West. I'm am so afraid of bridges and just don't believe I could do it. I'm not sure how to overcome this fear. I'm 75 years old. Probably too late for me. I really enjoyed this tour through Key West. I really enjoy all of your videos. Would love to go around the US camping if I had a partner. Oh well, if if if... Story of my "old" life. Thank you for sharing your trips with us.
As you mentioned the "elusive Key deer", something may want to think about in future. While will occasionally sight them along US1 and they are elusive, I had good luck on my road bike as I bicycled the the area off the main highway. Can only imagine what would be like on an ebike. The area to the west of US1 has a mixture of wooded areas and residential that had far more sighting of the deer.
We were just in Key West camping on the Naval Base. Your video made me want to head back down there!!! Great Video Robert, really enjoyed the quality and content!!! I grew up in Miami but Key West is a whole different Florida!!
We were there right when they reopened a couple years ago! It's pretty awesome. When were you there? The construction at the campground looks to be at the exact same state as when we were there.
That was not the original Margaritaville. The original was over by Turtle Kraals and did not have a restaurant. It moved to the location you passed. The restaurant was added and became the first Margaritaville restaurant.
I really enjoyed the video today. I have been to Key West twice. Both times stayed at the Pier House. Once was in December and got to see the Christmas boat parade from our balcony. I really like it in the Keys. Thanks!

Robert, you are natural. You’re so seasoned now. Haha. Love you guys.

Thanks for showing Key West again Robert, so much to do on a small island. Hope to get back one of these days and see what we missed last time.
No one knows Florida better than Robert.
