@@joeswanson733i'd imagine the Liu Kang from her timeline is just a normal Liu Kang who she has little connection to. When they restarted history the version of their love would be completely different then the one they knew the Kitana in Liu's timeline is not the Kitana he knew and the Liu in Kitana's timeline is not one she knew. It's why the line "you are my Liu Kang?" Is so important they've finally been reunited with the version of their love that they knew
she either disappeared or died then was reincarnated like all the other characters. honestly her saying you are my lui kang indicates that that is what happened they got spilt into different timelines and assumed the other was dead.
The idea of making all the tower endings separate timelines that can intersect is genius

Yet it's really contrived given the implication there are timelines were the One Being was revived implying there are alternate timelines where the One Being has already destroyed _all_ reality. Wonder how they'll address the One Being in future titles.

It honestly shows how selfless Liu Kang is, that he chose to do his duty and create a neutral timeline instead of one where he lived in peace with Kitana. Truly one of fiction's greatest and most noble heroes.
Exactly but even then he still didn’t feel himself worthy of the power seeing how it corrupted a titan like Kronika so he willingly gave up his power to be a protector of Earthrealm, only taking back his power at the cost of no longer being a protector to Earthrealm bc all realms were at stake, he’s a true hero Im glad he’s finally living up to that
at least they made liu kang good again. he was evil in MK 6-7, 9 & 10. so out of all hte MK games he was evil in 4 of them.
@@joeswanson733 In Midway timeline, just his body was evil, his soul was still fighting for good, just not on the spotlight because of the new protagonists, with Ermac's help if I'm not mistaken. And in 9 he just lost his faith in Raiden, so the only game where he's truly evil was X and 11 in his revenant form.
@@ultimatesavage959agreed and I think it was understandable since no one did anything to help them and everytime raiden suggest something his friends got killed like Kung lo when he suggested he stay out of MK2. Then we had sindel who massacred everyone with only cage and Sonya who survived so understandably he lost faith. To make things worse in desperate times and due to raidens previous theories and suggestions all failed that one final time where raiden was correct it's understandable why he finally had enough. After all he still didn't want to kill raiden but felt he had no choice then we saw what happened.
It's a shame his corrupted self when he died didn't see that raiden did turn out correct in that final suggestion prior to liu being killed.
To be fair to raiden while it's frustrating for everyone to see what happened but if someone else was in his shoes it's very difficult to make the right decisions since he just doesn't know.

The fact that they made every ending in the last game canon by having that fight between Shang Tsung and Liu Kang create timelines for each of them and tricking us by thinking Kronika came back by having Shang Tsung disguise as her and manipulate a version of himself like she did to him is mind fuckingly brilliant. If Avengers Secret Wars isn't like this then I don't want it.

I love that Liu Kang still remembers Kitana all those years ago in MK2/MK9. I’m glad they finally got together. Also seeing the OG Raiden return sent chills down my spine

@@ThatGuy-en2nnMK9 and MK11 Liu Kang fused in MK11, so he has the memories of both. This Kitana is MK11 Kitana. MK9 Kitana became a revenant. But Liu Kang’s comments about the courtyard are still true, because MK11 Kitana did battle Liu in the courtyard, the difference being she was never killed by Sindel because of the timeline interference in MK11, which eventually led her to becoming Khan.

I never got emotional with MK story before.
I teared up. Probably becouse we been with this 2 since like 2011 at least. Long term storytelling.
"You are... You are my Liu Kang?"... this scene brought me to tears. That's what Mortal Kombat was always missing in it's story line and now they Nailed everything. They made it so touching. We feel connected to those characters and it's so satisfying to finally see them be realised perfectly. Amazing Job!

Honestly looking back. It probably was a huge relief for Liu Kang and the rest of the group to be among their peers again. Not as gods looking down on everyone but as friends and the few that share the experience of their previous lives.

How does MK11 Raiden even exist separately from Liu Kang if they’re already fused? Or how are Kitana and Kung Lao the same ones from MK11 when Kronika rewinded time and restarted history?

That has to be the one of the highlights and rewarding moments in all MK, for those who truly are and appreciate the lore. But at the same time, one of the saddest. After 30 years of MK and they loving each other like crazy since MK2, they finally share an intimate moment, but at the same time, Liu's face when Kitana brings "fate conspiring against them" is just truly heartbreaking. And the thing is, if Liu's timeline is the one portrayed going forward, this could very well be the first but also last intimate moment of these two as a couple.
30 years? That would be just a tick compared to what they claimed they crafted the realms for eons.
So glad they finally share a moment together.

@@bwackbeedows3629 I don't see it happening, since in Geras' arcade ending, the barriers between the timelines were rebuilt. So even though the many timelines now coexist, they no longer touch each other, meaning with no Titan Kitana around, their relationship is officially over. New Kitana is a creation by Liu Kang who is free to live and build new relationships as she doesn't share any knowledges or experiences that Titan Kitana once had with him, and it is not in Liu's nature to thrust upon her a destiny to be with him. Besides, new Kitana now knows that Liu is literally her creator, so she probably see him as an entity/god other than anything.
So yeah, I can definitely see this as the end for this couple.
Well no... because they still retconed the lore and nerfed Shao Khan. Kitana shouldn't have just straight up solo'd him. There wasn't an explanation...the chosen one prophecy was disregarded so she could be queen.
I can get enjoying the story and don't have a problem with that...but there's not a lot of consistency anymore. Boon and team just do whatever they want.

I waited 30 years (since Mortal Kombat 2) for these two to kiss, and this moment was the best moment in the whole game for me. Just retire Liu and Kitana already, just give them the happy ending they needed please don't ruin this NR.
They are the literal GODS OF TIME in their respective timelines so this 2 are going nowhere unless you want their timelines to loose control and turn into a hellish universe because Liu and Kitana were too busy playing house to keep watch over their respective Hourglasses.

Liu Kang’s MK 11 Aftermath battle with Shang Tsung was so powerful, it created a multiverse where every character in MK 11 could potentially be a Keeper of Time with their own version of the Hourglass. So who knows if they even realize what happened to their old loved ones. I’m just glad MK 9-11 Liu Kang and Kitana found each other again.

Is this the main story? If so, then the story of Mortal Kombat continues to amaze me. There were a lot of missed character moments in MKX and MK 11, but I was satisfied with what we got and hopefully so with this new story as well!

@@javiervasquez625 i mean who knows? we know about the NRS historic in destroying couples, but liu kang and kitana have been a thing for almost 30 years and i believe they are the public's favorite, a lot of people are waiting for them since 90s. at the same time that villains are needed in the game, it doesn't mean that they can't have a minimum of peace, even if for just one game, this kiss was a start to that or a goodbye for them, who knows. we will see

No reason for Netherrealm to "change the formula" with their couples when violence and suffering is what fuels this franchise given them every reason to prevent Liu from ever been allowed to spend eternity with Kitana.

Given how the possibilities of the timelines are endless. There are at least an infinite amount of timelines where Liu Kang and Kitana got the happy ending they deserve
Anything can be possible because liu kang does have a crush on kitana and he knows there's a version of kitana who have the same feelings as him all he did was brought that version of her there with him because that's the kitana he knew and loved.

I think in one of the endings in MK 10 or 11 they'd kiss, but that was the closest we got in the games.
What I like about this scene is that, it shows that it does not just have to the spitting image of your partner. Even if they have identical personality, It has to be the person with whom you developed bonds and grew with.
Liu here didn't go for his era's Kitana. He always cherish the one he lost at Kronika's keep. Which is precious, same goes for Kitana.
Don't know about you, but to me the greatest moment of this game was the appearance of the Good Deadly Alliance. Absolutely loved it.

Honestly the new timeline Kitana sucks and don't feel like Kitana. I know she's not interested in anyone but I don't care if she do. I just hope the next game we get new Kitana other from the current or bring back titan Kitana permanently

@@Eyeyorot I don't know... NRS's slogan for MK1 was literally reimagined stories, origins and relationships with the characters we grown to. So I assume Liu's timeline will be the one continued to be portrayed in the future games, so the new Kitana should be the one in the next games. Being that, and considering Geras' arcade ending, that even though coexisting, the multiple timelines no longer touch each other, Titan Kitana is going to be out of the equation, and new Kitana is a creation by Liu Kang who is free to live and build new relationships as she doesn't share any knowledges or experiences that Titan Kitana once had with him, and it is not in Liu's nature to thrust upon her a destiny to be with him. Besides, new Kitana now knows that Liu is literally her creator, so she probably see him as an entity/god other than anything (and we can also see NRS laying the foundation for new Kitana to have other romantic relationship). definitely see this as the end for Liu and Kitana as a couple.

Keep this in mind that the two had been separated since the final battle of MK11 for eons. And not once did they forgotten the one they've truly loved.
Like damn, NRS does kind of mess up characters to suit their storytelling, but expanding the Liu Kang and Kitana romance ever since the first film adaptation made it possible recently has been pretty great in that direction.
