Somebody tell the Wacken sound engineer, there's more to a kick drum than just that snapping sound. Yeah, it's kinda tricky to get hold of: you need more mics, position them right, watch out for phase and all. Then again, you might discover, there are other drums than the kick.

that's so typical for Wacken. I did not see a single band with a great sound. Come on, I mean, wtf? wacken is the biggest metal festival in Europe and they just don't get it right. Not even on the main stages. the other smaller stages are even worse. I attended a shitload of festivals and even played some with my band and there were a lot were the FOH sound was superb. Wacken is a nice festival but meanwhile it's way to expensive for that shitty sound quality.

its a festival with a lots of bands...they dont have all time of the word to make soundcheck and to play lots of songs. That ridiculous drum kit takes time to make a decent micking, and for those splashes, Mangini putted then on the above for this time instead of putting near those 4 hihats. Maybe it was a change for record for this time using mic of his crashes, maybe.
they need better micing on the toms honestly. some of the cymbals are completely overpowering others.

This has only really dawned on my now. When Portnoy left they lost one of their backing vocals as well. When the first chorus happened i was waiting for Mikes Higher notes to come in on the "Hysteria" and "My Phobia" but it never happened.

I am a fan of Dream Theater and when I am a fan of a band, I allow myself to compliment them when they do something awesome and insult them when they do something bad. For example, I always praise Metallica for the boatload of amazing songs they've produced (primarily from their first four albums, but we won't go there). However, I will not lie when talking about St. Anger, which is, to put it kindly, a piece of shit.
When it comes to DT, I will admit that James LaBrie's voice fluxuates in quality. On some days, he sounds incredible. Examples of this can be seen in songs such as Strange Deja Vu, Wither, Another Day, Untethered Angel, and Panic Attack (studio cut). However, in certain live performances, his voice comes across as a horrible hybrid between a goat, a chicken, and a dying cat with a lacerated lung that's been infected with cancer. I still believe he's a great singer, but his bad days (7:00) are far worse than the bad days of other singers.
All that aside, can we acknowledge how much of a fucking god John Myung is?

I always back James LaBrie when people bash him but in this live, he is really bad. It's like he isn't taking it seriously. I believe he can do much better than this, he is just not trying at all. It sucks. Please get better, James, because it is getting difficult to defend you like this

Sick of people giving Labrie a hard time, he ruptured his vocal chords and hasn't been the same since, he still has a powerful voice and it's a great fit for DT. Nobody else can match the power he has in some of the more recent songs they have released. This entire song sounds really bad here in comparison to some videos I have seen, I think it's the video itself.
