Thor: The Dark World Movie Deacription:
In ancient times, the gods of Asgard fought and won a war against an evil race known as the Dark Elves. The survivors were neutralized, and their ultimate weapon -- the Aether -- was buried in a secret location. Hundreds of years later, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) finds the Aether and becomes its host, forcing Thor (Chris Hemsworth) to bring her to Asgard before Dark Elf Malekith (Christopher Eccleston) captures her and uses the weapon to destroy the Nine Realms -- including Earth.
Thor: The Dark World is a 2013 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Thor, produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is the sequel to Thor (2011) and the eighth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film was directed by Alan Taylor from a screenplay by Christopher Yost and the writing team of Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. It stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor alongside Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano, Jaimie Alexander, Rene Russo, and Anthony Hopkins. In the film, Thor and Loki (Hiddleston) team up to save the Nine Realms from the Dark Elves.
Development of a sequel to Thor began in April 2011 when producer Kevin Feige announced plans for it to follow the MCU crossover film The Avengers (2012). In July, Thor director Kenneth Branagh withdrew from the sequel. Taylor was hired to replace him as director in January 2012. The supporting cast filled out that August with the hiring of Eccleston and Akinnuoye-Agbaje as the film's villains. Filming took place from September to December 2012, primarily in Surrey, England, as well as in Iceland and London. Taylor wanted the film to be more grounded than Thor, inspired by his work on Game of Thrones. He hired Carter Burwell to compose the score, but Marvel replaced Burwell with Brian Tyler.
Thor: The Dark World premiered at the Odeon Leicester Square in London on October 22, 2013, and was released in the United States on November 8, as part of Phase Two of the MCU. The film was a commercial success, grossing over $644 million worldwide and becoming the tenth highest-grossing film of 2013. It received praise for the performances of Hemsworth and Hiddleston, visual effects, and action sequences, but was criticized for its generic villain and lack of depth. Retrospectively, Taylor expressed dissatisfaction with the film and said Marvel substantially altered it from his original vision during post-production. Two sequels have been released: Thor: Ragnarok (2017) and Thor: Love and Thunder (2022).

He's so real for that title
Loki was the saving grace of this movie like the acting Tom does is phenomenal✨
Odin was a bad dad to Loki. He always showed favoritism towards Thir since he's his blood child, but Freyia loved them both equally and was the one that showed Loki how to use magic as he does
Who's Thir? Thor's flimsy twin?
@@RedRoseSeptember22 typo. The I and o are next to each other and I didn't notice it and spellchecker didn't catch it
@@RedRoseSeptember22 he’s like thor but skinny and his power is shooting twigs at people😂😂.
I personally think this movie aged pretty well, it’s pretty solid compared to what marvel has been putting out as of late
💯
People keep saying that, but what are you considering "of late"?
Out of the multiverse saga, 6 out of 10 are at least decent to good or better.
Out of 10 series released so far, 7 have been between good and amazing.
Even though there's been some misses as well, I think people are being a bit over the top with how bad it's been.
@@wyterabitt2149 anything past endgame is what I consider “of late”. Almost nothing has hit the same, almost all Disney shows were misses, and no movie has been memorable besides guardians 3.
Marvels movies weren’t “decent to good” they were worldwide events, plus just look at the box offices since 2019. It has not been great
@@henrixrahe At the point where you are claiming that Loki 1+2, What If, Wandavision, and even Hawkeye are "misses", then it's getting hard to take that seriously. That already guarantees you can't say most were, as that is 50% of everything released. Hawkeye was a fun and genuinely interesting show as it's own thing. Falcon and Winter Soldier was the weakest of the decent ones, but is still a good action thriller. And Moon Night was a fun interesting show, doing something a little different.
And you might have thought Marvel movies weren't decent to good, but most had reached that point long before Endgame. There was some great heights and it ended high, but had a decent number of meh films up to Endgame. That meh has become poor since, but not a greater percentage. In fact there's less poor films past endgame, than there were meh or uninteresting films pre endgame.
@@wyterabitt2149 I guess marvel was never great then, just had hype, and I miss that. As for the Disney shows, I said almost all were bad, not every single one. But overall Loki is the only good thing that came out of that, the rest was entertaining at best
This movie got hate. But its not NEARLY as bad as people said it was
Loki is my favorite, resembling realizations and reality even if he's about illusions.
LOKI'S HAIR WAS ALWAYS SOOOO LUSCIOUS 😍😍
Thor's mom's funeral was really well done and beautiful to watch.
I personally really like Thor: The Dark World, though I agree that the villain leaves something to be desired, (no issues with Christopher Eccleston, just the lackluster writing). There was still a lot to like overall..
Also, Benny, (the younger guy in the short at the beginning of your video), was in the film "Bring It On". That may be where you saw him.
That "we are not gods" edit got me everytime lol
YASSSS THE TITLE THO👏🏽👏🏽 LOKI IS MY MANSSSS💚💚💚🤭
This movie was awesome i never understood the hate
The villain malekith isn't like he is in the comic books but his motivation for eternal darkness make sense when you think of it this way. Creatures like the dark elves or the symbiotes like venom were born from the darkness and are actually stronger in the dark. Think of it like Superman he gets stronger because of the yellow sun right will creatures like the dark elves are the opposites and they get stronger in the darkness.
Like Bane. He was born in the darkness. Moulded by it
Why was Mello’s intro kinda epic 😅🔥
Gotta complete this MCU journey
your editor is a true hero. all that little stuff....i love it
The movie clearly put a lot more Loki scenes in this after he became popular during The Avengers
I like any thor movie more than love and thunder.
Loki is one of my fav MCU characters so that's prob why I like this movie so much 💚🍏💚
That’s a fucking fire intro!!! 🔥🔥🔥. GOATED
People keep saying Thor shouldn’t be funny when this movie was the whole reason he became funny in the first place
That intro was crazy! W intro 🔥
it IS loki's movie; they had to reshoot and add the finale scene of Loki impersonating Odin because everyone were mad that they killed of loki
5:17 Oh Christopher! The former Ninth Doctor! 🙏🏽💪
Thor 2 has always been a ''Dark Horse'' imo, it's a solid film and a entertaining watch.
My boy you were stroking the helI out of that hammers handle. 😂
That intro was fire asf 😮💨😮💨 shoutout to Mello’s editor
Mell didn’t want to show up so badly that he had to be summoned by Heimdall all the way in Asgard😂😂😂😂😂. Nah but fr I actually do love this movie though and am happy you watched it🙌🙌.

Yeah, it's straight up revisionist history when people say that the first two Thor movie were serious.
Honestly, same with the entire Marcel Universe. It's been a comedy ever since the 1960s. Read old Spider-Man and Fantastic Four comics. They're filled with jokes.
The first two Thor movies were mostly serious when in Asgard, and more comedic while on Earth. Much more balanced then the comedy-heavy treatment by Taiki Wahiti. But no they weren't completely serious.
2:36 He was in Bring It On with Gab Union
I really liked this movie when it came out and I couldn’t understand why people hated it. However I will admit the villain could have been better and the story could use some tweaks, but considering everything we’re gotten after Endgame it still one of the better movies.
I just can't get over how 🔥 Kat Dennings is.
I love this movie and have no idea why it gets crapped on so hard. 🥺
4:27 As much as I love the Agent of Shield series, I'm glad it's not canon in the MCU. *No Spoilers* Mostly because since Marvel has the rights to the mutants again, it would be very confusing with the history Agents of Shield had established. However, I hope certain characters return though, through the multiverse, of course.
That was an amazing edit!!!
The grenades used by the Dark eleves momentatily created miniature black holes.
17:19 I remember how hyped I was for this scene in the movies
the intro is so extra but fire 😭
20:52 Even though I don't like this film, the music, and Loki's character was great! 💪
Seeing Idris elba in here, u definitely need to watch Pacific Rim dude.
As Odin's father stated, the aether was an infinity stone, and beyond the ability of Asgard to destroy. They coud only hide it away where it wouldn't be found.
You need to see loki season 2
That intro is siiiick!!!
Loved that entrance Mell!! 😀❤
36:32 Amen! 🙏🏽💪
"We are not Gods" edit is the fucking best.
I love how increasingly distorted it becomes.
rewatching with you mell i seen some parts ive misssd from falling asleep during this movie every time i tried watching it, i will say its not as bad as i had in my head but the villain is so boring. i feel like they tried to make the stakes super high but it didnt really work nothing ever really seemed to be at risk.
Mell I found your channel not too long ago and love your commentary always a good laugh. BUT! where is how to train your dragon 2 / 3 and treasure planet! any hints if they coming?

Yooo mell I got a great suggestion for a movie. If you liked gladiator, TROY with Brad Pitt is amazing. Or “The Patriot” with Mel Gibson
27:11 I love the title to this vid, since this movie almost Didn't Have Loki.
The guy you're talking about Mell is from ClockStoppers. Great OG movie.
7:00 Exactly! 😂💪
Fandral The Dashing(Zachary Levi's character) is based on Errol Flynn's version of Robin Hood, which is why he's fencing during that fight.
I’m here for loki and i love this movie so much. I love you so very much. Your my top number #1 favorite youtuber. Also i really do not freaking care what anyone says or thinks about this movie and marvel i still love and enjoy them a lot.
I actually liked it. The MCU has much worse
Intro was fire ngl
5:25 Aye!!!!! 🙏🏽💪
Agent's of S.H.I.E.L.D is One of the best pieces of live action Marvel content.
Jesse Bradford 2:39 Romcom: Bring It On; Suspense: Swim Fan. If he’s in any other horror-y things from the 2000s, I’m unaware.
Side note: he was in Romeo and Juliet with Leonardo DiCaprio (minor role).
21:44 🙏🏽
21:29 😔🙏🏽💪
Okaaay I SEE YOUU that intro was errthing.
Always loved this movie. It was my favorite MCU movie when it came out cause I stan Thor but now Ragnarok is my favorite movie of all time. Well second cause the sound of music is too elite
Awesome reaction of my favorite Thor movie!!!!😊😊😊😊

I appreciate this movie so much after Love and Thunder. It's okay, Mell, a lot of people forget about Eternals.

Can you watch chips, a comedy with Michael Peña and dax Shepard it’s so underrated
Need you to do Fired Up! next which has appearances from Philip Baker Hall
Can you do a reaction to Ready Player One ? It’s a fantastic movie I think you would really enjoy.
Great intro
Who said this movie is bad lol.
Its Good. I watched multiple times.
hey Mel, love your channel!
I'm wondering if you would do a reaction video to the Shadow and Bone series!! sadly, recently it was just cancelled by netflix, so I'd love to know what your opinion would be after you watch it! Keep up the great work!
You should watch "night school" with Kevin Hart and Tiffany haddish
I think it says something about the MCU at that point that this was widely considered to be the worst film. Sadly most of phase 4 has taken that title from The Dark World, lol!
Nah this is still weak compared to most of Phase 4. It's better than Eternals, though.
@@neospock5034lol , Nah, wakanda 2 was the most trash in all of phase 4
Bro ! You should definitely watch loki season 2 it's phenomenal
That dude you think you know was in bring it on
I love this movie 🍿💙💙💙
Ok Mr Hammer ❤. Not my favourite MCU., But loved your reaction you always make every movie watchable .
Can you please react to “leave the world behind” it’s a new apocalypse movie produced by barack & Michelle obama, it’s honestly one of the best apocalyptic movies I’ve seen
I feel like the editing is somehow a little less fun than previous videos, but it could just be the source material lol.
I like this movie. Thank you for your reaction❤
I enjoyed the movie honestly,, i get its a little bit more slow I guess for some people or less entertaining but i thought it was a great 2nd movie
I know Thor: The Dark World did and does rank low on a lot of people's favorite lists, but tbh, I loved it. Having Thor be funny in Ragnarok was fantastic, but only because he'd been so dour in Dark World. I liked the Shakespearean tone of the first Thor/ Loki took over the internet after-for The Avengers, and this continued it. They swung hard to course correct from The Dark World and we ended up with both Ragnarok (which was praised for it's comedy) and Love & Thunder (which was panned for it's comedy). I've enjoyed all four for different reasons. I think The Dark World will always be ok for me. Endgame was right to give Frigga a chance to return and guide both her children towards a better future.
day 3 of requesting joe dirt. things are HEATIN up
You should check out whiplash mellow!
Is ATLA coming soon?
Lol man said he was gone finish it by the end of the year… yeah right 😂😂😂😂
@@rhettsumner5127 exactly like what happened? 😂
FATHER AND MOTHER = BIOLOGICAL TERMS. Odin is NOT HIS FATHER, and he wasn't just "hard on Loki," he literally treated him like an inferior outcast. Odin is the one that told him that the FROST GIANTS ARE MONSTERS, and LOKI IS ONE. He taught Loki to HATE HIMSELF WITHOUT EVEN KNOWING IT. That's not just being "hard on him," that's a narcissistic POS that only cares about power and control, hence why he stole Loki in the first place. And if you pay attention to Odin in the scene of Frigga's death, you'll notice that he was already there when Thor showed up. Odin is the one that needs to be "more considerate" Odin LET HIS WIFE DIE to hold onto THE POWER that's inside Jane, he doesn't want to help Thor get the power from Jane because he doesn't care about humans. He didn't give af about his wife or anything else, he WANTS EVERYONE'S POWER. You notice that he hasn't SHED ONE TEAR. He wants Janet dead so he can TAKE IT like he does EVERYTHING ELSE.
Loki guckguck 3000 reaction lol
i def just wanted to see your reaction.
