You know, I see people installing the web and leather sling in various ways. This is how AmmoGarand installs the web sling. Thanks for the clarification.

Thanks for the video. I know there is some debate on the topic of what is the PROPER way to install and use the sling, and this verified to me that I was doing it correctly. I hope to see more M1 Garand content from the CMP channel!!

More to come! Anything you're wanting to see in particular?

@Civilian Marksmanship Program id like to see a video of an armorers restoration of an M1 or how the parts are processed and built into a rifle ready for sale. We always see B roll of the armorers working. I'd like more. I'd like to see what went into turning my rifle from potentially a dirty worn Phillipine return to my service grade.

How about installing a short chamber barrel and finish reaming?

It's the way I arranged my sling. I got tired of the buckle digging into my shoulder!

I sure hope you guys didn't take down the CMP forum. That would be awful.. And all my slings are upside down.

The CMP Forum is a useful resource for our community and ourselves. It is going through some changes but is here to stay. Please be patient and pardon our progress. Besides this gives you more time to fix those slings. ;) Thanks.

    I’m shocked that you don’t have a video on cleaning a m1

I viewed an official video on the M14 Rifle, the web sling was attached the opposite way, the 'humpback' buckle, when adjusted will not touch your shoulder.

We used the same exact sling on M16 A2’s when I was in the Marines. We attached them the way you are describing. He put the sling on upside down.

Well, Bobby Jones fed you a load of bull. That's not how the keeper is supposed to go. The latch always faces the rifle.

This sling is very versatile. This is one of many ways to put it on. With the buckle flat facing the rifle, it is far more comfortable for most people when actually in use. The way that works best for you is the right way.

I need to attach mine so the end of the sling makes a loop that I feed my left arm into. Not sure what that's called, but that's what we do in our Garand competition.
