I have recently came across your videos. I have been playing many years with a single digit handicap. Without a doubt your videos have answered (solved) many of my questions and problems. The pull down phase with left foot pressure and heel pad pressure (left hand) seems to have changed my golf swing. I have been a chronic under planer and inside to out path. I think working on pressure not positions works for me.
Hi Adrian - I really appreciate you taking the time to write, it’s the sole reason I make videos, and that’s to truly unlock golfers games. So much to come and I hope you improve further as time goes on. Once again, big thanks. Best wishes Stu 😊
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us Stuart. As a golfer for the last 55 years (normally in single figures) I feel I'm finally starting to understand the golf swing!
Thanks Stu. I've been watching your videos for the last 3-4 months and have now un-subbed from all of the other golf channels as yours makes so much sense. My golf is already improving and I'll be signing up for a Skillest session soon!
Hi Stuart, Manchester lad here living in South Africa Just come off a mate's tour in Cape Town, shit weather played shite. Such a wonderful insight of your experience with the channel, my coaching and how it made you react! Long may this continue and I really look forward to you sharing more insights as you work through a few more bits of my videos! Best wishes Stu 😊
Pull the club is not taboo. But Horton Smith warned the PGA to NOT teach it because they could not make enough money from a student. Because the method is too simple.
To pull or not to pull, that is the question! Sergio and Tiger have both spoken of ringing the bell, pulling the handle down. Bobby Clampett writes about throwing his hands at the ball. But a number of RUclips golf instructors have claimed pulling down is harmful. Rory uses a drill with a driver and a split grip that very much looks like he's pulling down. It's beyond dispute that hand speed correlates perfectly with clubhead speed, and the sooner it rises the better. Your video points out, as many don't, that the handle pulling isn't an action in isolation when done correctly. I like your approach and will try to put it into practice.
Thanks Dan - you absolutely and must pull. Most people “don’t” pull because they “don’t” use their legs as demonstrated appropriately. If you pull you must use your legs and you “will” gain more speed and increased pressure on the golf ball. Let me know how you get on and thanks for sharing your thoughts. Best wishes Stu.
You throw the right hand down and you get the body for Free. The Body will take care of the swinging action. The left goes for a ride. Throw from the top. Best to ever play the game throw . Pulling , you can throw faster .
Stuart I have watched all your videos many time but for me this,is the missing link , I was always told to pull the golf club down but when I started pulling the club away from me my WORLD changed for the better . Many thanks for all you do for the average golfer.

Hi Stuart, came across your videos at the weekend and tried them on the course today and WOW. Watched the two Brush videos first and tried the drills in the back yard and they made so much sense, then watched this video and the one about pressure down on the handle and BINGO, I was really impressed the way I was striking the ball today. You have me back in love with golf again. CHEERS.

Your analysis makes so much sense, this particular lesson clarifies the way you pull the club, which now makes more sense to me as I was previously pulling the club down. Having changed my grip to the way you teach, at the range I was pulling everything left, I will now endeavour to pull the club out. Thank you

Love the pulling-especially of the handle out and front of the body. On a fast and powerful backswing there's so much momentum from the heavy end going back that you need a strong opposing force to load and stabilise the club with the large muscles (chest, left leg). Keep doing what you are doing, the feels are exactly on point
I also see my knees kiss each other as I go thru to finish. Everything flows and works together more efficiently. I am so happy I found you and thanks for letting me subscribe. I feel like your my own coach with the way you teach and the reason why you want us to learn the right way. I I know you want us to enjoy our spare time our down time as you said so we can have a much better life a balanced life cuz when we're golfing and we're frustrated and we're fresher day at work there's no balance and everything is just gloom and doom so I thank you for those reasons for wanting to show us how to do this effectively and the right way
This is why I haven’t sent you a video of my swing yet. I timed up the pull of the handle with the opposing pressure last night with speed and no reservations. The whole motion just put me in a balanced finish. I work at a course for fun, perks and not having to shop with the wife. This seemed so much easier with the heavier shafted demo for some reason. Anyway, another step closer to good golf thanks to the Mad Scientist! Many thanks my friend!
Hey Stuart, loving the content. I’ve a technical question: I saw a video of a long driver who is also a very good golfer and his idea to stretch band is to only move the upper body to begin with (no lower body) and when you can’t do that further to then let the hips rotate and move everything together. Is that good sequence? Or should we be immediately starting to move pressure to the right heel, left toe in the takeaway? I tend to press into the right foot and then rotate the lower body.
HI Brian - Pressing into the right foot and pushing the energy into the left leg is the right way to go for most. My "Ultimate Backswing Drill" video is a good videos detailing this. Thank you so much for the super thanks! Best wishes Stu
@@GoodGolfCoaching I’ll check it out, thanks, because the downswing pull and right away left heel right toe pressure move is really helping me keep rotating and covering the ball. 🙏
Hey Noel !! Thank you so much my friend, so happy this has switch the light on and hopefully transitions you to better golf. Let me know how you get on! Best wishes Stu
Without doubt, the best golf instruction out there! This video , alongside the one on hip rotation are light bulb moments! Thank you so much for sharing. Can’t wait for our lesson on the 14th July :)
What I don’t understand when looking at the figures at 8:25, is that your weight is clearly on your left foot but the graphic up right indicates 16%on left and 84% on right !
@@GoodGolfCoaching Do you mean that, at the end of your swing (follow through), your weight is on your right foot (even with irons) ? Actually it’s something which happens often to me and against which I am struggling for years 😤
Hi Stuart.great video's i have been reading yes Ben Hogan 5 lessons he talks a lot about the lower body first. to start the downswing!! Your instruction on left foot, toe to heal does seem to create this effect!! Combined with the left hip turn !! Jus saying!! Great lesson please keep up the good work thanks Tom
Thanks Stuart for your very informative videos. I’ve been trained to transmit power « upward» in the downswing: from the ground through the feet, the legs, the hips, the torso which presses on and activates (loads) the relaxed arms, wrists, fingers and finally the club. When trying to actively pull the club in transition as you advocate, I tend to loose my left arm connection with the torso, leading to a more «downward » transmission of power, i.e. arms activating the hips and legs. Did I misunderstand your instruction, or should I question my earlier beliefs?
Stuart - I really like how you explain a lot of what’s really happening, things that I’ve never heard elsewhere. Just watched this and the other 2 videos. As a 10 index golfer I’ve gone back and forth between swinging with all body and no hand/arm/ shoulder force, and actively applying force to the club through the hands and arms as you strongly advocate. When I use hands and arms, this eventually leads to balls going left, until I hold off, and then they go right. So then I go back to all body, which usually results in straighter, but shorter shots. Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated. Thank you and sorry for being so wordy.
Ni issues at all... Please watch my "power at impact" video which will give you great clarity on how the handle and club releases through strike. Let me know if you have any further questions. Best wishes Stu 😊
Just watched this video from 3 months ago again a few times ,,think this is something i need to work on ,,when i come over on the 11th of this month to your studio cheers graham
Love your videos. Can you show how to address the ball from a above view angle? I keep second guessing myself when I look at my club face. I can have my alignment stick pointing where I am aiming and when I set up my irons. Some times I pull and other times I push. Or is there a drill you can recommend that will make sure I line up my club face to the ball it straight versus slightly turned left of target or right. Thanks 🙏🏿
Good stuff. Niemann and Mito's coach talks about similar on Instagram, he explains as pressure in transition out and left with left leg, so into toe of left foot and then pushing pressure back into left heel. I think this is why his players clear the club so hard to the left as you're describing here.
@@GoodGolfCoaching Will do, Stu! I feel like I have tried so many swing moves on RUclips and elsewhere that seem to work in the short-term, but not the long term. You're right...Like a band-aid. I like your concept. Hey, at the very least, I learned what the word "lorry" means. lol Cheers!
@@GoodGolfCoaching Swinging the broom as we speak. lol I will give it a fair shot and watch more of your videos. I get the concept and, with simple practice swings, I can see how it the "around the corner" move generates speed and squares the clubface. It feels almost like it is going to come from the outside, but my divots, on the back yard grass, are straight. Okay, I'll leave you alone now for a bit. Thanks, again!
Your point about the body moving to the right as you pull the club to the left (rh golfer) resonates with me. There is a school of thought that golf movement is like a discus thrower, with everything moving left. But it seems to me that the impact phase of some top golfers is more like that of a hammer thrower, where the spine moves to the right (as seen from behind), thus spinning the body. Am I right at all?
i'm left handed but golf right and a i've always had good luck when i pull with the left side. i feel like i wind up the left side from the left hand, arm shoulder and especially the left buttock and then that all unwinds on the downswing, it seems to work most of the time and it all happens so fast i don't have time to think about it, it's like 1-2 back and thru, bing bing.
Really like your analytical videos. They make so much sense. Please eliminate the sound effects with the subscribe requests. It's totally unnecessary , annoying, and distracting from the great info you are providing. People who watch RUclips videos know about subscribing, liking, etc.
Absolutely agree with your critique and I have for the past two months stopped doing as requested. Sorry for the annoyance and hope this doesn’t put you off watching more content. Thank you so much for the kind comments. Best wishes Stu 😊
I’de rather be annoyed by your packaged insights than impressed with well presented nonsense. But the criticism helps refine the best of best. Your openness to information has gotten you to this level of understanding… I’ll bet….
Are you pulling knuckles down versus pulling the handle toward the ball in which the face doesn’t close properly . Your best way to pull the club in the downswing, please?
Hey Stuart, Been working with this video and several others of yours and am seeing quite a lot of change in the shape of my swing and in my feels for how to hit the ball with a good amount of oomph and accuracy. From 52 degrees up to my driver I range from ok to good on distance and accuracy. With my 56 and 60 degree wedges I tend to hit weak slaps that don't go very far. Is there a drill or a video of yours you would recommend for those struggling with high lofted wedges? I'll be signing up for lessons soon on Skillest--looking forward to continuing to learn from you.
Hi Philip; the video with the thumbnail “you need this drill” with two therabands around my neck would be a good starting point; have you seen this? Thanks so much for the very kind words and look forward to speaking further. Best wishes Stu 😁
Thanks, Stuart. I have been doing the drill with therabands but only about once a week. I'll look to practice it more. Your recent video on transition when your back was hurt has also been helpful--the right hand only drill. It seems that there is no one or two drills but quite a few that you need to work into your weekly routine.
Superb video Stuart, thank you. Love all the forces & pressure explanations. Sometime soon a good University should be giving you an honorary PhD in Physics!!
Just a thought for a future video. It would be interesting to see you swing a whipy club like the GForce to see how the pulling action can work with that flexible a shaft.
Hey Jay - sadly, I don’t own a whipping club aid because personally, they will ruin your feels not embrace them, and I certainly don’t want to hurt a golf aid’s business. So, steer clear of it in my humble opinion. Hope that helps. Best wishes Stu 😊
hello i dont understand, all conventionnal golf and pro say that we need to stay connected. dont we unconnect lead arm by pulling away. sorrry if it is stupid question.
Not a stupid question at all Stephan; connection comes in my forms and in three planes, but this absolutely won’t disconnect you my friend. Best wishes Stu 😊
Hi , really enjoying your videos 👍 The problem Just watched three RUclips videos 1 . I became a pro golfer when I learned to pull the handle straight down ! 2. What ever you do don’t pull on the club, leave the hands/arms up , while starting with lower body 3 ,your video Three pros who all hit ball well with totally opposite views !!! Concerning my own swing , definitely better getting my left leg from toe 2 heel in downswing Thanks for tip 👍👍
I can assure you every golfer pulls on the golf club, it will be to the level they use the floor too. Hopefully the evidence in my video is clear enough for you to believe and understand. I really appreciate your feedback and hope your game improves but most of all you’re having fun!
Totally enjoy your videos but in ref. to pulling the golf club you say pull the club forward. Because we are looking at the video in 2 d I'm unclear what you mean by pull the club forward. Do you mean forward toward the target or forward away from your body?
Paul, great question my friend and I am going to do a video this week from above me on this topic. The handle should be pulled towards the ball line as if you are looking from above. Makes sense? Best wishes Stu
Looking forward to this as I interpreted it as pulling the handle out toward the ball but looking at your shanking video it would seem you don't want the handle getting further from you.
@intelligentgolfperformance I have been pulling the club, mainly with my left arm, since I started playing golf. What I have been wondering and experimenting on how to use the right arm more. Even Ben Hogan wanted 3 right arms. Stuart, you give your thoughts about left versus right arm as to applying power in the golf swing?
As per my video - imagine pulling the cable with one arm more than the other? Wouldn't be very functional nor would you be able to load the cable as much. The one commonality with golfers is they feel this game is specific or so removed from what we must do to shift weight, in this case the club. The more we appreciate we are trying to load the muscular system the less chance we will keep consistently try to apply restriction, like trying to only use one arm in the pull phase. Hope that helps Sir 😊
@@Precision_Golf I hear what you are saying. When I am at the gym I do almost exactly this exercise and you are right, it is much harder to do with just one arm. You automatically use both arms if you want max speed. In my golf swing I also use both but it feels left arm dominant, like a back hand in tennis. If I try to use the right arm more in the last part of the downswing, it all goes side ways. For some context, I am 64 and hit a 7 iron 135m/ 150 yards.
Lovely insights Gerard - the above comment was from me but mistakenly sent from a third party account. Apologies, many thanks for sharing your experiences.
So what about the technique of players like Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose, and many other pros and PGA teachers that says that your arms do nothing in the downswing , just pulled by your hips ,which are pulled by your feet and legs , the ground force . They say your arms just respond to the lower body action , from the ground up but with no pulling the arms at all as an initiation first move? As you stated here. Please , give your opinion.
I think I demonstrated in this video with great detail how the pull is essential; if I don’t pull how does the cable move? The level of which the pull occurs ultimately is dictated by many other ingredients but understanding the club has weight to it, believing your hips and legs pulls the club is truly faulty in my opinion. Hope that helps Mario! 😊
Stuart , Your actually throwing , not pulling . Pressure is on the thumbs from the feet spiraling up through the rib cage Take a golf ball in your right hand and take a backswing with the the right hand with the ball and throw it hard down on where your golf ball would be . Everything your talking about happens. You get the body for free.
@@maeu59 There's no such thing IMO as a preferred right or left side dominant swing. No need to differentiate between right and left. The body works as a whole system. Ground reaction forces .
Pulling the club from the top will cause most high handicappers to increase their grip pressure & create unwanted tension in the shoulders, arms & hands thus slowing the club thru impact. The club is swung, not pulled.
Each to their own Mike - grip pressure is derived by poor hold and poor face alignment in the the hold. Grip the club poorly; if you load the shoulders and the club the results are catastrophic. Biomechanically and dynamically, not pulling the club makes no sense. But like I said, you’re welcome to apply your own truths. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Sir. 😊
@@GoodGolfCoaching Poor face alignment has nothing to do with grip pressure. Grip& everything else can be perfect but too much grip pressure can still exist. Sorry, I just don't understand your reasoning.
@@mikerodrick2430 if you don’t get it, maybe you need to watch a few more of my videos to understand the importance of hold, leverage, pressure, movement and loading. Bless you, thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Painfully boring. Pull straight down and let your turn square the club. You will hit it firm solid and with a high draw. THE proper golf move and flight. No Video NEEDED!
31,8 kg !!?, yes because your machine was built using Imperial weights (made in USA?), 70lbs is 31,75kg. Since you live in a metric system country, I guess the supplier simply converted the weights to the first decimal 😂

@GoodGolfCoaching I'd rather be lucky than good any day!
👍👍
Heading to the range soon to give these concepts a shot.....Thanks!
Let me know how you get on Derek! Best wishes Stu
@@GoodGolfCoaching Will do, Stu! I feel like I have tried so many swing moves on RUclips and elsewhere that seem to work in the short-term, but not the long term. You're right...Like a band-aid. I like your concept. Hey, at the very least, I learned what the word "lorry" means. lol Cheers!
It’s a mine field out there my friend. Hoping you stick around long enough to gain some knowledge and drive off in your lorry happy 😃
Please please watch my “broom series” all the broom videos will really help. Enjoy 😊
Not sure I could confidently say I understand your analogy Howard, what I would say is if it aligns with my video, you’re on the right track! 😊
Fantastic video 👍
Thanks Dave - thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts! Much appreciated.
Hi Stewart. Great instruction as always…. I’d love to be able to do it. But my grip is still toilet 😁. Take care. Warwick
Sometimes the simplest things with the biggest gains can be so difficult. Good luck Warwick.
Really clear explanation. Just a concern ; I hope I don't go over the top.
Have you seen my “Over the Top” video. If you are pulling the handle I “promise” you, you won’t go over the top!
i'm left handed but golf right and a i've always had good luck when i pull with the left side. i feel like i wind up the left side from the left hand, arm shoulder and especially the left buttock and then that all unwinds on the downswing, it seems to work most of the time and it all happens so fast i don't have time to think about it, it's like 1-2 back and thru, bing bing.
Sounds like you’ve got it sussed Steve - great insights and thanks so much for sharing!! Best wishes Stu 😊
I got fitted with a 95gm stiff shaft after playing for years with 85gm light regular shafts and it was so much easier to swing it
Excellent, good to hear!
Nope, not changing wrist angles on downswing like many encourage, simply pulling with both hands toward the ball. Hope that helps.
Hey Stuart,
Been working with this video and several others of yours and am seeing quite a lot of change in the shape of my swing and in my feels for how to hit the ball with a good amount of oomph and accuracy.
No doubt about it. Need to keep moving and opening up the pathways mentally as much as possible.
Superb video Stuart, thank you. Love all the forces & pressure explanations.
Sometime soon a good University should be giving you an honorary PhD in Physics!!
Haha thanks Nick - hugely appreciate your kind feedback and hope it helps give some more clarity! 😊
Found it. Thanks so much
My pleasure Elliot!
Another great vid!
Thank you Leonard, much appreciated my friend.
Hi Stu, so what does the right leg play in the turn? Nothing? Can we use the right leg to help with the turning speed?
I’m hoping the video will explain this
Great stuff Stuart
Thank you James - glad you enjoyed Sir 😊
In Monday’s live programme you touched on pulling club again which is why I’m back on this video!
How else could you move the club please? 🤔
...by not pulling the club "as much" 😊
@@GoodGolfCoaching 😂😂
You and I need to talk young man. 🙏🏻
@@gavinlloyd817 always here 😂😊
Hi , really enjoying your videos 👍
The problem
Just watched three RUclips videos
1 . I became a pro golfer when I learned to pull the handle straight down !
2. What ever you do don’t pull on the club, leave the hands/arms up , while starting with lower body
3 ,your video
Three pros who all hit ball well with totally opposite views !!!
Concerning my own swing , definitely better getting my left leg from toe 2 heel in downswing
Thanks for tip 👍👍
Do You start by pulling the club and toe to heel together or heel to toe first?
Hi Jack - if you pull too hard on the handle you’ll soon feel like your feet are stuck in the mud. When that happens, work the feet harder.
@@GoodGolfCoaching Thank you for making these great videos.
@@GerarddeVries pleasure - thanks for being a part of the channel.
Brilliant!!!
Thank you Dewayne!
Pull and turn the wrists/face down the same time as you straighten out right elbow and turning left.
Not quite sure it’s how I’d articulate it 😂😂but if it works, go with it! 🙌😊
The lag and the must pull down is the same? Or they are meant differently?
The lag will occur with a light grip pressure, the pull down is separate to that. Hope that helps? Best wishes Stu 😊
Do you “pull” all the way through the swing, even after impact when inertia taken over ?
Hey Stuart - check out my angle of attack video and most recent videos for more insights on this. Best wishes Stu
Which one Stu , for avoidance of doubt ? Sorry ….Sunday 🙈
Hey Stu / ONE Swing For All Golf Clubs | The REAL TRUTH
ruclips.net/video/Rjf0S4SRzNM/видео.html
In your practice swing your hands are way out in front when you pull, but when you hit the ball the hands aren’t as far out, feel vs real?
Have you seen my broom series videos? This will make sense… best wishes Stu 😊
@@GoodGolfCoaching when you pull, do you pull with your left arm right arm or both at the same time?
Great video!
It would be great if u have face camera.
Would like to see your left leg move.
Face on camera is a new addition to all my most recent videos. Hope that helps. Best wishes Stu
Your scientific analysis proves that Pulling is better than Hitting. Probably from an accuracy standpoint also.
Amen to that my friend! Thank you.
The bell with the subscribe button reminder is horrible. Else the video is good.
The bells are no longer in my most recent content. Thanks for sharing. Stu.
All i can see, your clubhead is way outside of the ball in your setup , there must be something aditionally , you do in your golfswing!?
There are plenty of elements to the golf swing, I simply discuss one of them here my friend. Watch more and all will make sense. Best wishes Stu 😊
⛳
🙌
Stuart , Your actually throwing , not pulling . Pressure is on the thumbs from the feet spiraling up through the rib cage Take a golf ball in your right hand and take a backswing with the
the right hand with the ball and throw it hard down on where your golf ball would be . Everything your talking about happens. You get the body for free.
Chuck, thanks for sharing your perspective. Hope you consider what you’re seeing could be different to the reality. Best wishes Stu
@@maeu59
There's no such thing IMO as a preferred right or left side dominant swing. No need to differentiate between right and left. The body works as a whole system. Ground reaction forces .
It has everything to do with the golf swing. Obviously your still in the pulling stages . Enjoy your journey.
Feel free to unsubscribe Steve! Love your feedback though my friend, honest and concise. Best wishes Stu
31,8 kg !!?, yes because your machine was built using Imperial weights (made in USA?), 70lbs is 31,75kg. Since you live in a metric system country, I guess the supplier simply converted the weights to the first decimal 😂
