I'd be sold on the TRAK if only the turnaround time from order to delivery wasn't like 9 months. Ten minutes to set up sounds great, but the reality is that the real set up time is 9 months and 10 minutes, and that's 9 months more than I can wait.
It looks ridiculous on his back while riding a bike, but the design looks quite functional and it showed it riding over a breaking wave which is pretty impressive.
stanbimi I can tell you that the Trak is probably the best all around kayak there is. I don’t think the first thing on this video is actually a kayak...
Jim, how do you like it? I have been eyeing this one for months now. Probably will do a test but would love your opinion in terms of assembly, weight. I am 5’5, 123lbs woman and not very strong. Weight and storage have been my main issues with purchasing one
Misleading. There is a reason why kayak companies have reputations. Because they make a quality product that's tested and refined. Now I will say that the Trak is probably a good kayak, but nothing new. Feathercraft and Folbot (now out of business) have been making kayaks of this same general design for decades with a very refined product and customer service to match. They come in slightly more or less than both brands, but not by much. Its a kickstarter to bite into a market segment dominated by brands that have been doing it reputably for decades. Pakayak looks interesting but I would question hull stiffness especially in a wake or surf. There is no solid beam running the length of the hull. Of the 5, I'd say Trak and Pakayak probably has the best opportunity, but they're a bit pricey for an unproven design.
First one: So, ripstop nylon. How's that hold up when you paddle into the edge of a sharp rock, or submerged tree branch? Don't think I'd want to find out.Hypar: How's that "unique hull design" work when you're in a bay and a boat's wake, or any other water surge come at you from behind? Seems like your kayak would be instantly filled with water. They've designed a perfect funnel and ramp for the water to come up into the cockpit.Trak looks interesting. I'll have to do some research on that. Not sure I like the separate frame and skin, but that how the eskimos do it. Pounding the hull with a hammer isn't the problem, it's sharp edges. still looks interesting. wonder how much they run. Quick research done - doesn't look like it's in production yet - startup. Where do the wheels go when you're kayaking, or is there a case that goes with those wheels you have to leave behind? What if you want to do some camping?Oru. I watched and tracked these for 3 years. THen REI started carrying them. Within the month, they had their annual sale. First couple of days they had kayaks on sale. I walked in third day of the sale and Oru's were on sale for 20% off the hefty $1500. I figured I couldn't afford NOT to grab at the opportunity because the price wasn't going to come down. VERY happy with my ORU! Oh, 3 minute "assembly" my EYE! Give yourself 15 at least. Also, no extraneous case with the oru. the kayak and every piece of the case, other than the nylon carrying handle are part of the kayak.Pakayak: I can't help thinking that the stress on each segment at the joints doesn't have enough material to hold up. Of course I could be wrong, but it looks like a failure over time to me, particularly it were to receive a sharp blow when transporting it once it's assembled.
I've paddled folding kayaks for 20 years mainly Feathercrafts and Folbots, now I own a TRAK. Other than the ORU, everything else here looks like a wrongful death lawsuit waiting to happen.
They are solid well-made kayaks, right now they are a bit overwhelmed by all the new orders so it's a bit hard to get answers from TRAK proper. If you are interested in them it is probably best to look up a TRAK pilot in your area and see about a test paddle.
Phrancis5 I whole heartedly agree. I’ve paddled a lot of different kayaks and thing the Trak is about the best you can get unless you want to go on expeditions longer than a week
LOL. The guy narrating the second part of the video doesn't even know how to pronounce "whilst". Kinda makes one wonder how competent the rest of the project is.
I really do need a kayak but I think all us men know why we came here....😂
Nice rack?

i cant imagine being able to cycle with it

@@ShaanGNas I caved n bought a pakayak
Wow 😮 😯 made from a coat hanger and an old tent! 😏
No comparison, no review, just 5 commercials pieced together. What about safety, performance, durability, affordability, etc??

Thats what all of these channels are
9:00 is what you are here for.
All these kayaks seem great.
would anyone happen to know of a portable kayak but one more suited for fishing( standing would be a plus)?
Without a mention of of Klepper/Long Haul, your list is incomplete. They are heavier and expensive but, have stood the test of time.
0:01 oh boy, a floating tent! 🙄
Great video. Oh wait, no it isn't; it's a collection of adverts. Waste of time.
Excellent video
Justin case best name ever :D
On the water in 3 minutes? LOL...no frikking way. I've assembled one and it's more like 20-30 minutes. Do post that video where it shows the time.
Wunderschön viele Grüße 👏
All kayaks are portable, some are just easier
The only realistic kayak with reasonable performance here is the Trak. The rest are toys at best.
Hypar was soooo funny! On the bus for real?
‘It’s designed to have a low impact on the environment’ - it’s made from a tonne of plastic
Ok, so it only impacts the environment once :-)
I think the pakayak comes the closest
I just ordered a pakayak 142

They really cared
How about a portable kayak that costs less than a car 🙂
I take it you can neither roll nor re-mount this kayak in the event of a swim...
wher can i buy it ? looks very nice
And just why did you think that this shape was the ultimate in water travel...

not all kyacks come with a rack!

How well does it float when it's swamped?

Good one !
Who the hell would risk to go on a trip on a lake with "that" ? Seriously ?
Music killed this vid..moving on.
I thought inflatable kayak was stupid until I saw this one
Or in my opinion
A boat which is one piece solid short and can run whitewater
Just get a playboat
Well im an overlander so boats aren’t really the best option when your roof it taken over by a rooftop tent but I understand where your coming from
I think ill stick to my nelo vanquish
The trak is $3600!!! Hell no!
One can buy about 50 Lidl-canoes for that amount of money.

Do you like the TRAK? I am interested in them but dont want to die lol
A TRAK fan too...waiting for delivery of the TRAK 2.0
How do you own one is it is still on kickstarter
I bought my TRAK (Version 1) 3 years ago. You can occasionally find them used on eBay and on folding kayak forum
