Wow, what a beautiful thing to do for the poor. Makes me proud of having been born into the Orthodox Christian faith. Exactly what Christ has asked of us. I am Ukrainian Orthodox, we were introduced to Christianity only a millenia ago through marriage between a Kyvian Czar and. A Greek Princess. Prior to the marriage we were Polytheist, worshipping a creator Goddess.
I like how the priest answered the question about charitable giving: the absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. Of course the church helps the needy when and how it can; you just never hear about it very much because you're technically not supposed to.

In this day and age where ppl are confused and lost to secularism and narcissism I pray catholic and orthodox churches may be made one again. It’s hard to preach unity when we can’t unify the truest forms of Christ’s Church.
Our churches should be beautiful, but I do not believe they should be lavish. In my village we have seven churches where only two are regularly used, but all have to be looked after. Our bishops live in palaces, are driven around in limousines, and know for a fact that they are not as generous as they should be. Our island needs evangelising!
How are we all doing what the father and the son wish ? “ so we they can become one?” No, I think it’s up to us not up to God when God has already expressed His wish for us to be one church … ⛪️ humans get in the way of Gods will … when are they going to get this???😢😢😢😢
I see what you mean but it's still not something we can force to happen - God still has to guide and lead this process otherwise we'll get it all wrong.

Do Orthodox share the same dates of major holidays as the rest of the world? Also what do you think about Day of the virgin of Guadalupe, Holy Week, Día de los muertos, candelaria, and epiphany. These are all holidays of my culture. Should I celebrate these if I am orthodox or is trying to Orthodox?
Depends on the holiday and the calendar used by the particular jurisdiction. Many jurisdictions celebrate Christmas on December 25th, but some follow the old calendar (Russians, Serbs, etc.) and celebrate on January 7th. Pascha/Easter date moves, but it sometimes lands on Western Easter. We do celebrate Holy Week and Theophany. We don’t celebrate the Virgin of Guadalupe because that’s a Roman Catholic Saint.
If the One Holy Church is apostolic and the Catholic church has apostolic succession and has valid ordination, baptism, sacraments etc, It is not correct to not theologically recognise their fatherhood, their priesthood. You might not agree with the state of affairs of the Church as a whole, the Schism. Orthodox don’t believe that Rome has valid apostolic succession because they’re not in communion with us. We also don’t believe they have valid sacraments. How could we? We don’t attend their services or take part in their sacraments.
Rome lacks sacramental grace and valid Apostolic succession. Apostolic succession is more than just tracing your ordination back to the Apostles. You have to also have the Apostolic Faith, which is found only in the Orthodox Church
The Latin need to come back to orthodox doctrines and patristique. Then we may go into communion. They need to return to the church of the first millennium.
9:52 minutes. A total fallacy. “A lot” of Protestant pastors are wealthy? The majority of Protestant pastors have secular jobs, when you include all Protestant churches (denominational and independent). Protestantism is an umbrella term for all of the denominations that were born since the time of the reformation in the 16th century. I agree, it’s not fair to lump them all into the same category, as we have high church vs low church, etc. However, it is not incorrect to state that there are A LOT of Protestant pastors that have made a highly lucrative career out of being a pastor, namely the Evangelical/Pentecostal/Charismatic/Non-denominational types. There is a major difference between the life of an Orthodox or apostolic priest and the life of many of these Protestant pastors. A common misconception is that the woman who anointed Jesus's feet with expensive oil is not the sinful woman who anointed His feet with her own tears. The woman who anointed the Lords feet with 300 denari worth of fragrant oil was Mary the sister of Lazarus who Jesus rose from the dead.
The Orthodox Church doesn't state, yes, it was Mary, a sister of Lazarus. If you read all four Evangelist they don't say, yes it was Mary, a sister of Lazarus. When I listen sermons of my church (Russian Orthodox), our fathers cannot state 100% that is true. And on another hand it's not that important whether she was sister of Lazarus or not.
@mrsmarple2655 thanks sister but it's in John. John is the only one who tells us this. It's important because when learn who did the anointing and why.
@AAna_Stasiaa oh, no problem. I understood that you meant St John the Evangelist. However, it doesn't change the argument. As if we read st Luke he mentions that a woman who anointed Jesus's feet.. was a sinner and Mary, Lazarus sister was obedient, good girl. There's an argument that maybe she was Mary Magdalena. St Matthew and St Mark mention again differently. So, it means the Church didn't come to unanimous conclusion. 🙏❤️🕊️
I am a Serb and I live abroad, some Serbs have become Greek Catholics. They did not give up their customs, they just converted to Greek Catholicism. There are Serbian Greek Catholics in America, Germany, and other western countries. It is rare for a Serb to be an Orthodox abroad. Why is no one talking about Greek Catholic ecumenism?
I'm very surprised to hear that Serbs abroad convert to other dominations. I'm a Russian Orthodox and attend a Serbian Orthodox church. Yes, it's outside of Serbia. And I know so many Serbian Orthodox churches in this country. And I think that Serbs not that easily leave their Orthodoxy.
5 seconds in ... No... lol. May the segregation of Christian faiths continue! I'm a Christian, I was raised Catholic, I absolutely understand why many of the Christian Church's maintain a segregated stance. I did get rather frustrated with a Christian friend of mine when I said that Catholics are Christian, but Christians don't have to be Catholic. She told me that Catholics weren't Christian, but believed they were just Catholic and resolutely refused to hear otherwise. In all honesty, I have reconnected with God and the teachings of Christ through Gnosticsim and I am grateful for the Lord's grace in guiding me back Him. We should respect each other's traditions of faith. We should recognize there are still sensitivities towards how certain Church's treated each other in the past. But we should also remember we are all children of God, and today, more than ever, we should remain united as Christians against the increasing evils of this world. "Tell me of your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith with my deeds" Book of James, one of my favourites. God bless.
Amazing closing ! There are many reasons why then Orthodox and catholic Churches are not unifying; it was very close a few years ago. But the Catholic Church kinda betrayed the promise (I ll say it loosely to not upset anyone) Meanwhile we will continue our deeds without telling so that the world can witness the Faith and be the witness.
Careful with this Gnosticism stuff if you wish to have a full and true relationship with Christ please. Apologies if I misunderstood how you’re using the word “Gnosticism”
@user-yk3vf3ub2v oh there is ABSOLUTELY good reason to approach these kinds of teachings with caution. And this is for everyone who showed some concern when i mentioned these teachings, it is largely unregulated and obscure, there are certainly those who look to take advantage of that. But you have to be cautious with Christianity anyway. There are leaders of Churches that tell their followers that they need a crystal palace so that Jesus can see their congregation pray, that they need golden watches and fancy suits. They convince their followers to give their money and they too will have fancy things! I've literally heard these preachers say, "Jesus wants you to be rich!" ... I've yet to come across that part in the Bible, but they will find passages and twist them to suit their own greed and vanity. Jesus warns us about this and millions of people continue to support these Churches and call themselves Christians. Are they wrong? Is it for me to judge them? No, and I don't, but it's not something I would surround myself with either, just as I wouldn't promote my own faith other than share what I've found helpful? I think I'll have to reflect on that now though? So there's lots to be cautious of when it comes to faith. Orthodox teaches this well, I've even discovered very small sects of Orthodxy, like the Celtic Orthodox. I respect that it asks more of you than just showing up on Sunday and Gnostic teachings do as well. Gnosis is a Greek word for knowledge, it goes back to the early Christians. I learned some time ago that if we follow the lessons and not the teachers, we can better protect ourselves from being manipulated. I hear this reflected in Orthodoxy too. Not, implying they are the same thing at all, but they both ask more of their followers. If I hadn't discovered Gnosticism first, I probably would have gone Orthodox. But it is an intimidating faith if you haven't been raised around the Orthodox Church.
@@Manhoof thank you, and ya, the Catholic Church still has yet to learn how to play well with others. But the contribution to the Christian faith will always be valued, even with its faults.

first
And therefore: last. ;D
Shouldn't call any priest father. There is only one Father the Almighty father.
Forgive me but St. Paul calls himself a father. 1 Corinthians 4:15.. Everything is through Christ in the Orthodox Church.
Absolutely not true.
Serbian people have their own Orthodox Serbian churches all over US ,America...
@@ranojutro426 There are also Greek Catholics
I'm very surprised to hear that Serbs abroad convert to other dominations. I'm a Russian Orthodox and attend a Serbian Orthodox church. Yes, it's outside of Serbia. And I know so many Serbian Orthodox churches in this country. And I think that Serbs not that easily leave their Orthodoxy.
Not true. Serbs are last to think about becoming Latin heretics as they historically suffered so much by the hands of Latin heretics.
@@johnnyd2383 I know, but I am saying that there are Serbs who are Catholics of the Eastern Rite
May God bring the orthodox back to Peter, the Stone, the first of the apostles.
Who founded Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and Orthodox patriarchate of Alexandria.? And at what years.?
But the Catholic Church kinda betrayed the promise (I ll say it loosely to not upset anyone)
Meanwhile we will continue our deeds without telling so that the world can witness the Faith and be the witness.
Careful with this Gnosticism stuff if you wish to have a full and true relationship with Christ please.
Apologies if I misunderstood how you’re using the word “Gnosticism”
I hope you don’t actually believe in some sort of Gnostic form of Christianity
Jesus doesn’t say “ don’t worry about it” he says if they are not against us they are for us he doesn’t want to mention that part because according to orthodoxy everyone outside of orthodoxy is a heretic bond for hell
Not true
You spoke to a father or bishop maybe even a deacon from the Orthodox Church and they said this to you?? I don’t know why they would say such a thing to you, can you tell me about that experience you had with member of the Orthodox Church?
He does say that, presuming that God only allows those who are ready to preform these works to do so.
He also says
23 “Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.
Take that how you will
@@MiskeenKareemMy priest says that we will be surprised who we will be in heaven. We should focus on our own salvation. God is a God of Love.
@annetteanastassi7433 I agree with your priest, that doesn't mean that people are saved outside the church.
