Frank Sinatra Jr. is a damn good musician and very captivating performer, REGARDLESS of who's son he may or may not be. I would love to see this guy in concert.
I used to think that he was lacking in the voice quality and that was because of comparison to his dad. But it appears that he is now very very good and we should be glad that we have this inherited talent for us to enjoy. Please keep singing......
Go back a half century, and Frank Jr. was slim and handsome, 60s hair, engaging but not overconfident. He looked like his mother, brown eyes and all, but did sound somewhat like his dad. His big handicap was his name. How do you live up to that? No one could. Then came his infamous kidnapping. Rumormongers implied Frank Jr. was in on it, not for the ransom money, but to get his father's attention. Nothing could be further from the truth, but the story tarnished Frank Jr. and he never fully recovered. Singing his father's signature tunes here, half-heartedly, he is not a happy camper, but a tragic figure.
unpopular opinoin, I prefer Frank Sinatra Jr. to his father. I just prefer his voice, maybe if I had seen his father live I wouldn't say this, but still, he just sounds better.
He might have had a cold during this performance, but he's sounding a bit nasally during this. I think he always had a good voice, and I think people are overjoyed that Sinatra *had* a son that inherited at minimum, a good portion of his dad's talent. Anyone listening to Deanna Martin?
it´s simply not fair to compare ANYONE with Frank Sinatra. Frank Jr does a good job, i like his voice i wish there where more singers like him in the world. But i can even think of comparing him with his father. Sometimes to carry a name like that is a heavy burden for a career.
He's got talent, he's got the phrasing and timing. He is a very good singer. But God didn't give him his fathers pipes! It must be very difficult to sing in his father's shadow, but who would be any more equipped than Frank Jr.?
Jr's voice is just like his father's. The problem is the WAY he sings. It seems he didn't LEARN how to sing as well as his father did. He sings like Frank Sr would sing hasn't he ever had singing classes. It seems to me that Frank Jr doesn't like to sing as much as his father did, he doesn't feel the music while he sings the way his father did. This is so sad to me, because I'm only 29 years old and never got a chance to go to one of Frank Sr's concerts.... :-(
Obviously, Frank Jr. sounds like his Dad, but his phrasing and story telling doesn't match up. Watch the real Frank sing (particularly in the 1950's) and he just brings the songs to life with emotion that connects to the soul. Nothing soulful about Frank Jr., but I like that he honors his father.
I think the punch would be called power. Jr's voice seems to sound pretty fragile. He looks bored, and has the expression like "when is this gonna be over!?" Sr. loved to sing. That's probably why he didn't retire 'till the very end.
he is is son but not the king frank was an icon nobody can be like him he is the king of music and everybody new it rip frank sinatra you will be missed for ever nice try franks son but not like daddy he had a way and a vioce
Frank's voice always had a "punch." Kind of hard to explain but if you've listened to Frank as much as I have, you might know what I mean. Frankie does have a bit too much vibrato, and he doesn't seem into the music as much as his father was. He makes it seem more like it's a job than a great career that it should be.
@LiveFromUnderneath lol lol cheers mate. i grew up on this sort of music. i like green day though. doesnt change the fact he doesnt sound anything like his dad, even when he was younger. stephen triffitt sounds like his dad though. check him out if you want another sinatra. triffitt is the best out there by miles.
i dont really enjoy this, but fair points to whoever said he knows the songs well, because i cannot sing i cannot learn the lyrics that well, so keep it up frankie jr! i doubt you could learn 1, 346 songs that your dad did
I have one of his albums. That Face. It's really a fantastic compilation of songs. He has impeccable taste. Just not impeccable vocal ability. And why he insists on doing the same songs, in the same style, with the same arrangements, and keeps putting himself in that position to be compared to his father I'll never understand.
@flylooper what on earth are you and the other people listening to??? sounds nothing like his old man, nothing at all. in fact if it wasnt for the fact that he was sinatra's son he would never have been heard of at all. his dad could sing, the son cant. the nearest person who sounds like sinatra is a guy called stephen triffitt. now he does sound and look like frank snr. in fact he shouldve been frank seniors son. you tube him and you will see what im going on about. leaves the son for dead.
@adamskib18akm i think his father would have been extremely proud if his son could sing but hes awful. just making dough off his fathers name im afraid
Frank jr should be ashamed of himself trying to imitate his father. He should get a life and sing his own songs not his father's. He absolutely has no emotions when he sings and butchers every single one of Frank Sinatras songs. Poor Frank must be rolling in his grave when he hears how badly his son sounds!
He is a good singer but I think that he should have built his carrer doing something different, not under the shadow of his father. You may say: "he's doing a tribute" but I don't think so. Performing the same old songs his dad used to sing is just an impersonation and it is unavoidable to compare him whith his father. I think he has no personality, no charm, no charisma.

He should not be compared to his father. He is a great talent in his own right. His voice is very pleasant and expressive.
Long live the image and sound of the Master-Frank, Sr. Well done,Frankie ,Jr.
its just amazing to hear and see, that he doesnt even try hard to perform any song, thats talent.

+A Krenwinkle So true on all counts; still in all a great underrated singer; oddly becoming popular now !!!!!
Hear, hear. He's a prince of a guy, from my experience. And he knows the music inside and out.
His voice reminds me of old american movies when i was little :D (i'm swedish) :D
gosh for him and his dad its just soo effortless!!
You can hear beautiful colors in his voice! Nice singer!

AGED A LOT HANDSOME WHEN HE WAS YOUNG
unpopular opinoin, I prefer Frank Sinatra Jr. to his father. I just prefer his voice, maybe if I had seen his father live I wouldn't say this, but still, he just sounds better.
+Connor Fleming I do too... I prefer the son over the father...
Wow! I just can't hear that, he was just a pale shadow of his father.
Show de bola, muito bom mesmo!!!

I don't understand why he's so polarizing. People leave either super positive comments or unfair negative ones.
Jr admittedly doesn't have Sr's charm and personality but Jr's voice is up to par. I say he's pretty good!
Atomic flash, I agree. He just stands there. Having said that, I think he CLEARLY outsings his father.
He's got talent, he's got the phrasing and timing. He is a very good singer. But God didn't give him his fathers pipes! It must be very difficult to sing in his father's shadow, but who would be any more equipped than Frank Jr.?
he has as good a voice as his father had although he needs a more forcefull delivery. he is outstanding

Exactly. Just because he's Frank's son doesn't mean Jr.'s as good as dear ol' dad, or even very talented.
He has such an amazing voice is this on CD or DVD anywhere???
I agree. It did have some force 40 years ago. I wonder what happened.
His father would be proud. And I think he is.
I think the punch would be called power. Jr's voice seems to sound pretty fragile. He looks bored, and has the expression like "when is this gonna be over!?" Sr. loved to sing. That's probably why he didn't retire 'till the very end.
stephen triffitt is the best sinatra performer out there by miles and miles. squint yr eyes and you thinks its old blue eyes reincarnated
fablous as his dad!!!!
No one will be like Ol' Blue Eyes.
Or sound.
who is this singer?... Sinatra JR?? amazing!..
he is is son but not the king frank was an icon nobody can be like him he is the king of music and everybody new it rip frank sinatra you will be missed for ever nice try franks son but not like daddy he had a way and a vioce

Maybe he'll do a duets album with Julian Lennon and Dweezil Zappa and it'll be called "Genius isn't Hereditary".
... THE PRINCE OF POLYESTER !!!
@Atomicflash500 It always appears like he's just up there going through the motions to collect a check.
he sounds exactly like his father just his father's voice was slightly deeper
Frank Sinatra + 100lbs = Frank Sinatra Jr
Frankie's voice was pretty good when he was younger, but it didn't hold up as well as Frank's did over the years.
This and'a weak voice , listening to the powerful voice on youtube : EMILIO PASCALE.
Sorry, but Jr. has a clear'er voice than Frank Sr.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so. Frnak's voice always sounded powerful, but Frankie's is weak in comparison.
Not the best, not the worst.
has this guy any feeling at all? is he a robot ?
@Atomicflash500 I feel the same. You can't beat your dad
isn't that William Shatner?
He just never put any feeling into his singing..I could never understand this guy.
nice but not the old blue eyes
Frank used to be cute but now he is hideous. Also, is Frank Jr a fruit? That's what they say...
Mhmm. Even in "Duets II" his voice sounds shakier than 78-year-old Dad's.
I have one of his albums. That Face. It's really a fantastic compilation of songs. He has impeccable taste. Just not impeccable vocal ability. @thomascrown997 At his age, who gives a shit, honestly.
@adamskib18akm i think his father would have been extremely proud if his son could sing but hes awful. just making dough off his fathers name im afraid
sounds nothing like his dad. getting by from using his dads name cos he aint a singer
NO ES SINATRA
Respect the songs ...and im sure hes a nice guy but its like Frank Nasal Jnr Sinatra. Too nasaly and the voice has no depth.
Frank jr should be ashamed of himself trying to imitate his father. He should get a life and sing his own songs not his father's. Ehh, I don't think so. His voice is weak and has wayyyy too much vibrato. No strength like Dad's. Oh well.
What a waste of a good orchestra!! R.I.P Frank.
not very good
