I am a Instructor at a Boy Scout Camp and I am going to show this video prior to walking the Scouts step by step and teaching the hands on gun cleaning portion of the Shotgun Shooting Merit Badge. We teach the Scouts to have everything they would need at their disposal before they start to clean, organize the parts as they disassemble the gun, and to keep the work area organized and clean. Your video demonstrates all of these points. Very nice video and well put together. Thank you.

Do you have a video showing how to change the bolt breech buffer?

You can break into that cannon safe in less than 30 seconds with a simple twist bit. Key pad went bad on mine locksmith wanted $400 to get in I was in the safe in 30 seconds.

No safe less than 800-1000 will stop a meth head and an angle grinder. That's why cameras are important.

The rubber o ring? That paramount to the function of the gun if that’s what you’re asking

1:43 this was the hardest part, finding the feed latch. Its the one on the ejection side, I kept hitting the lever on the other side and it wouldn't do a damn thing.

You need to show more up close angles because I took apart my gun like you showed, but you were saying things that I just didn’t have knowledge of. Eventually I figured it out by myself with a couple of other videos but just for future reference, show more up close angles and don’t skip parts.

Nice tutorial and beautiful gun. Long question. I have the same model bought in the 90's and used it only one week hunting. Since has been stored in a case in an air conditioned house. I've decided to use it for home defense thus took it apart to make sure it was clean (it was) and well lubricated. I noticed that pressing the back end of the firing pin, the front end didn't protrude from the bolt face. Thought well maybe it takes some inertia after hammered. Also forced the pin forward from under the bolt and the tip seemed OK. Next after putting the gun back together I dry fired a Snap Cap dummy round with a piece of thin tape where the primer would be. The tape was untouched. Tried the same with another 12 gauge pump action and the tape had a hole in it. Any thoughts? Thanks for any help.

@@jerryking1434Thanks. Spring appears fine visually. Also since I asked the question I took the gun and fired live ammo without any problems.

That is a safety feature - so it doesn't fire when the bolt slams closed on a round .Lift the lug on the top of the bolt - it should work then.

For my 11-87 it's part #1100-12446. Should be the same for all the 1100 series.

My 1148 has a serial number in mid 300s m
And it has been in storage over 10 years. 6:0 6:01 problem is safety will not move. Before pulling it apart to clean any guidance in the safety and trigger assembly?

Use a bit of penetrating oil and if you have a heat gun hit it with some heat, should get it free.

So do you not clean the silver tube?

    • @beerhunt9013
      @beerhunt9013 Год назад +3

yes you must clean that part. This cleaning technique was rushed and a lot left out ( such as cleaning the interior of the receiver)! I've owned an 11-87 Spec Purpose for over 30 years and hunted ( and fired it) 27 of those years with it.

@@beerhunt9013 How would I go about cleaning it? Turkey season ends May 31 and I want to put it up clean. I did not grow up with firearms, have been figuring it out on my own since the 90's as I can.

@@bpnsirdiealot Turkey season ended May 7th n West Ky. ...bummer! I got one on April 18th!! Later on during the season for several days I had birds VERY close gobbling but I never saw them..but they got away! Maybe I need to improve my calling skills!
Its great to know that you think about needing to put the gun away thoroughly cleaned!
To clean the outside of the magazine tube simply remove its cap (hand tight only) and remove the fore stock...wa la there it is! Don't leave it oily but dry, UNLIKE the rest of the gun metal. You found this video and I am sure you can find others for cleaning the entire gun. Other Remington shotguns are similar for disassembling such as the 870 pump (Wingmaster, Express, & Sportsman 12). Even inside the magazine tube may need cleaning depending upon the guns' exposure to moisture, tall grass, bushes, etc.
