Steph has influenced the game more than any other player ever probably. This dude has everyone shooting threes (even centers), Magic revolutionized the game but not as much. Magic was a legend but is not close to Curry when scoring the basketball. Bird is a better option over LeBron, better shooter and rebounder plus he could really pass the ball. Hakeem was way more skilled than Shaq but Shaq was harder to stop in the low post. Shaq would get your best big man in foul trouble in the first 3 minutes of the game plus he needed less time off the clock to score. Imma chime in and say a few. First and foremost Curry is a transcendent player. For two reasons. He changed the way the game is played. Took me over two years of investigations and remembering the past, that I as a senior citizen man with myself as witness,to even say, that Curry is among the great shooters. Then I had to finally admit, that Step is the most dangerous and accurate long rang bomber in the history of the game. Then finally,I humbled myself and admitted hes the best shooter in NBA history. But after he won one ring,I completely got out the way and said, that the kid, that will take that special place from him isnt born yet. Just as the next 6'9 pure point guard, that will take Magic's place isnt born yet. Now,with that said. Not only am I a student of the game, but not only did I play, but I played the point myself and come from two generations of point guards. Not only were all my brothers point guards, but my moms was even a point guard for 4yrs in catholic league high school. Curry isnt a point. He's a two. Hes a two that learned to master the point. I would even say,he mastered it better than the great Dave Bing. Both started off as twos. As for comparison. I'm not going to start anyone ever before Magic. Its certain shit you dont do,unless you choose Oscar Robeson. Now,if Isiah Thomas played Curry during this era, surely Curry would have the advantage. But Curry played during Isiah Thomas era. I dont very seriously if he could be a premiere player,do to the fact of physical punishment and hand checking. Go back and look at how often Nate Tiny Archibald got knocked on his ass. In fact Nate got knocked on his ass more than AI. The Curry of today, could deal with that kinda of defense. Thanks for allowing an old head to chime in.
Yiu make excellent points. None of the players Isaiah mention played for hall of fame coaches at the time they were Playing. Magic played for 2 rookie coaches his rookie season. He won the championship playing center for injured Kareem; scored 42 pts. 15 rbs. 7 assist and he won MVP. His 3rd season in the league with his 3rd rookie coach in 3 years; Magic won his 2nd championship and 2 finals MVP. Player make coaches Hall of famers.
I always thought Hakeem Olajuwon #1 and Rick Barry #2 for winning a championship with the least of star talent around them and the teams that they beat. The Washington Bullets were heavy favorites.
@ATL 1 : .well I did consider Rockets Hakeem, but Shaq had an edge because great coaches from other teams had no answers to stop Shaq, and Rockets Hakeem (I'm actually a follower/fan of Hakeem) only got Finals because Air Jordan took an 18 month break. I do believe in that era, Hakeem would be considered 2nd Best NBA player If Air Jordan was playing.
Michael , Shaq had no Robin, Hakeem had Clyde the Glide ... and it takes a TEAM to win playoffs, in no way or format "one player" wins playoffs, maybe wins season games, but never "ONE PLAYER WINS PLAYOFFS GAMES" , you need a Robin, and nowadays, 3 or 4 superstars in ONE TEAM to win Finals.
Exactly! He did, and won at least one championship doing it. Point guard to center. I can't think of anyone else who did that. There is so much ignorance displayed on this page. Ignorance as in not knowing.
i will wait with Curry, he is great play maker and shooter, but i still need to see little more, Magic once was considered the best of all time before Jordan, infact the league came alive with Magic and Bird so...
Correct me if I'm wrong but Olajuwon is the only player in NBA history to win a championship with no other allstar or hall of fame players on his team in '94' of course Drexler comes in '95' but that 94 season I watched him demolish all big men of the league Shawn, Charles, David, and Pat
Bro u putting too much disrespect on curry's name. One can argue steph had a bigger impact on the overall game than magic did. What everyone keeps saying is finals mvp blah blah. Steph's impact is not always shown in the stat sheet. And also, you can make a big argument that steph was robbed of that 2015 finals mvp. Not saying Steph is better than magic AT THE MOMENT, but i think when it's all said and done, people will realize how much steph means to the game.
The disrespect to Curry! He have numerous clutch shots after 2016 year and ain't no way I'm letting magic take the last shot over Curry. Magic is the goat PG but he go swept in the finals I believe twice.
Y’all gotta let go of the past, what Stephen Curry has done for the game is All Time Great and he has the rings. He will finish as the Greatest PG Ever. That’s no disrespect to Magic both are The Greatest is just a preference of play style now.
u need to chill. For 1. I didn't even get to see Magic play in that era. I have seen him play tho, it was a different game and a different time but Curry is not better than Magic, regardless of the sweep. Basketball has two sides and our peers need to understand that, Curry will never be the defensive player, passer, rebounder, have the IQ of Magic.
TFP 23 Fam I don’t know who lied to you, but Magic was not a good defender he’s even said this himself, and Curry’s the one that almost avg a Triple Double In The Finals. 27 9 8 . This is not about Curry being better than Magic it’s about people like you pretending that 80s and 90s players had no flaws but nitpicking at every little flaw today’s players have. If Curry was an 80s or 90s player he’d already be on Mount Rushmore with all he’s accomplished. Unanimous MVP. 73 wins 67 wins the year before. Revolutionized the game, Greatest Shooter Ever. 3 Championships smh I can go on forever. As much as people might be brainwashed to love Magic. He is not incapable of being usurped.
All you Currydickriders solely concentrate on Curry's shooting. He's absolutely already one of the greatest of all time! And he's only in his prime! Unbelievably accomplishment! Here's where ALL of you need to come back down to earth. Steph Curry is a HORRIBLE defender. His lack of defensive skills are a hindrance to his team. Warrior opponents set offensive game plans to take advantage of Curry's awful defense. His terrible defense cost the Warriors a couple of games this last year. Defense is HALF of the GAME. So when ignorant delusional Curry Super Fans are already saying they think he's the one of the best PG's of all time? Cool your jets. There are countless amounts of great PG's from past NBA era's who's ferocious defense puts Curry's D to shame. If you want to say that Curry is one of the greatest offensive PG's to ever play? That's hard to argue. I'd agree with that. But when talking about today's NBA description of what a "2 way player" is? Which obviously includes how good a player is defensively? Curry's not even in that conversation. Look up highlights of John Stockton, Gary Payton or Jason Kidd. Amazing defensive PG's!
I don't give a fuck what NOBODY says. On a game winning shot...I'm taking CURRY all day ...ANY day. There is no better shooter on this planet than Curry. All due respect to Magic...but he ain't nowhere near the shooter Curry is. I'm rolling with the Chef. Nuff said.
it's a different time rules are different its impossible compare bill Russell wouldnt be bill in another era Kareem wouldnt be the same in a different and and so on if every legend played in the same era would be the only real way to compare

C- shack Pf d. Rodman and the rest you got right. You don't need Hakeems fancy foot work on that squad. You don't need Birds slowing that team down so I added power and grit.

Wait tho lets make sure we get the facts right MJ hated Phil, didn't think he knew what he was talking about. Took a min for Phil to get MJ to buy into his system. If i'm wrong let me know. Who has Spo developed, mike Brown, Blatt, Walton, Lue?
@@biglosk331I can understand why players like Lebron don’t want coaches especially great coaches to reign over them even if it’s logically going to translate to success. The main issue is typically athletes who come from high school straight to the NBA that are just a general star level player to transcendent level like Lebron, Kobe, Carmelo, Dwight Howard, etc don’t have a high level team basketball knowledge of offensive concepts and to add to that they get overly praised as been above regular ppl from middle school to high school. So they take that ego that they have invested in as kids into the adult professional world without knowledge of advanced offense and defensive concepts to the league and really way too heavily on the their physical abilities as a natural habit from their high school play. Playing in the college system just for a year or two would have benefited those players to have developed skills and team concepts outside of their natural talent which is why I’m off the opinion that Kobe would have won more championships in the long run if he had been in college for just one year at minimum. Not to mention that most of these high schoolers with the fresh high school mentality often come from single mom households so deferring to male authority is a complicated issue for those players. Only exceptions of players with strong father in this convo I can think of is Kobe Bryant.

Well truthfully Magic Johnson if he wanted to could have averaged 30 plus points a game but normally if he scored 30 or 40 points in a game it meant that the Lakers were in trouble because no one else was scoring so to say that he's not a score that's not right and at the time magic was the number one player in the league and the best player that we've seen besides a Kareem

@@alyjulmiste1880 I said older not washed up or anything. Obviously Drexler was declining by then. Jordan was greater and took two years off so he was fresh for a come back at his age.
@@Zay_Rich I am not trying to be an asshole but your argument does not hold up and here is why. I made a mistake and said Drexler is only 2 years older than Jordan. He is actually only one year older than Jordan which makes my argument more potent. Yes Jordan left basketball for a little but not the entire two years. He actually came back in the middle of that following year and made it to the finals and were knocked out in the first round. The fact that Drexler was still playing when Jordan was gone for one and a half season did not make Drexler a less better player. It's quite the opposite. When Jordan came back he performed not to well because, of his year and a half of inactivity. It was the following year that Bulls went on there second three peat run. Jordan is the greatest shooting guard ever. But, Drexler was not that far behind. Drexler is easily in the top 10 best shooting guards. Your point was to diminish Drexler's contribution in winning that year's championship. Whether you meant to say older or over played and tired, your point is still way off and wrong. If Drexler was older then so was Jordan. If Jordan can be effective at 33 then Drexler can be effective at 33 as well. Please tell me you understand why they both are the same age in this narrative.

That's real! Magic seems more capable all around especially in the interior ! Yet I'm taking Magic on point.
Sorry....as much as I love Steph....he wouldn’t get past Zeke on my list...he got handles, but Zeke had THE. HANDLES. and he was a very good defender AND a better athlete than Steph (I’ve seen him dunk off 2 feet over 2 kneeling people LIVE in 1990 - when he was 9 years in the league), so to me, Zeke is ahead of Steph.

That 91' squad that Magic willed to the finals, put him on forever GOAT status. No more Kareem, an old James Worthy and Byron Scott, and a subpar first time head coach in Mike Dunleavy.. and got those jokers to the NBA Finals. Larry bird and magic are way better than lebron all around especially heart
definitely not
Isiah really be laughing from the belly each time, his laugh is infectious looool
Stephen A. explained why his team was so good: it's scoring quickness and speed.
@ATL 1 I kind of feel you on your comment here but if you still play ball after the 2016 season you go to a gym or a quart every single dude is trying to pull from behind the arc like every single one is ridiculous I'm happy that the mid-range game as shown by Durant and Leonard seems to be on his way back
LOL!!! ARE YOU ON DRUGS ??? MAGIC AND BIRD. SAVED THE NBA AND THEN JORDAN TOOK IT TO ANOTHER LEVEL. @Steve Ibrahim that's real and hardly ever thought about, without the rule change which in fact changed the NBA fundamentally as it was known to do by the rule Changers check the documentaries...
Stephen Curry would not be as effective obviously because the defense was basically removed from the perimeter now that's without taking anything away from Steph Curry he's still the best shooter of all time I don't know about best clutch shooter but best shooter of all time so he would be impactful in any era I believe if he could get to open look.
But without a doubt what we just saw with this past finals is the return of the mid-range and even Kevin Durant himself is a proponent of the mid-range game as we can clearly see yet and still all aspects of the game changed when the defensive adjustment was made

@ATL 1 nah if you smart
Yep, Curry over Magic ... Top Five: At Guards Air Jordan and Greatest Shooter Curry, At Forwards Spurs Duncan, King James, and At Centen Shaq ...
So curry is a better passer and offensive coordinator than magic steph doesn't even bring the ball up Draymond does that so why steph
Steph also has a propensity to get careless with the basketball.

@@chroniclesofjudah144 Cool and I will leave it after this. 1st year there was a adjustment period with Phi/Mj and Spo/Bron. After that everything change for both. Heat went to 4 straight finals and then he left to fish business in Cle. Look it's just the narrative that gets me. I don't understand how a player doesn't want to be coached but goes to 8 straight finals. My understanding is that coaches are supposed to develop player.

@@Zay_Rich
I am not trying to be an asshole but your argument does not hold up and here is why.
Lol you always got something negative to say about Lebron when people that actually played the game say something positive about him.
