I am from the West Indies and the majority of Islands were rooting for Croatia, when they lost and Luka Modric won the Golden Ball, everyone was cheering and clapping for him. When the Croatian team was called to receive their medals, they received a standing ovation...France may have gotten the Cup but Croatia won the World.

What Griezmann did was a dive. No contact and already in mid-air when Brozovic was next to him. It wasn't a soft foul, it was a dive which was meant to deceive the referee. The media don't talk about it because it wasn't Neymar. VAR should also look into cases like that because diving should be punished. It's ugly and ruins the game.
Are you blind? Go watch replays from different angles. It was a foul. Why Brozovic at the end tackled Griezmann? Because his first intention was to bring him down to stop him going forward. I have to say that the Croatian manager, Dalic, is a better man than me. He was very gracious in defeat and didn't make an issue over the dodgy penalty, but it must hurt.
Griezmann's dive for the free kick was pathetic and that penalty was simply a joke. It was not deliberate and he was 1 yard away from the ball when it happened.
Croatia were the better team and played the better football. A real shame they lost the game in this way, they didn't deserve this.

I am french and I like to tell you guys I am so with this critic. I am so disappointed with this final game. I feel this world cup final was the most unfair final game ever and that I feel the true winners are Croatians. They have been the true warriors throughout the whole world cup and I got nothing but the most respect for them. Since this world cup, I officially became a huge Croatian fan and I hope France can learn from you guys how to play. The french team have great players too but the Croatians teams made it difficult; they played like an army! According to the true rules of the game, the team with the most score wins, and if Croatia wasn't able to score against France it just prooves that they were not able to, and so they did not deserve according to the rules of football to win the match and the World Cup. Best team of the tournament wouldn't have qualified twice out of three at penalty shoot out, and the last time after a third extra-time against England and an equalizer goal that seems very discutable to me. What would croatian fans say if France had scored a goal with a player shooting the ball only centimeters away of the head of a croatian defender, when you see how they argue about a penalty that is clearly obvious ?
On the other hand, France won every second tour game within 90 minutes and spent only 9 minutes being leaded (by Argentina).
There is no simulation from griezmann before the 1st goal, there IS a foul on griezmann, go watch the video again. From a certain angle you can see that griezmann foot is being takeng by the croatian. It's the exact same foul that does kante wich brings Croatia 1st goal... There is no offside from Pogba either ( watch the replays again). And it's an obvious penalty as almost all these kind of hands in the surface led to penalty's during this tournament ( one against France when they played vs Australia). All this polemic is nonsense. It's just people pissed off because their team ( or the team developing the more esthetic football) didn't win...

violons d'automne si tu veux on parle français je suis français... juste pour dire que sur le coup franc à l'ouverture du score il n'y avait pas coup franc mais un beau plongeon de griezmann (17') et deuxiement arretez de dire qu'on n'a pas vu la main, tous les professionnels du foot ont vu qu'elle était involontaire et pas de bleus derrière pour la reprendre.... ça fait qd même 2-1 à la mi-temps contre le cours du jeu pour une équipe qui a tiré une fois au but et qui était dépassée dans tous les secteurs de jeu... à la mi-temps 66% de possession, 68% de duels gagnés et 7 tirs à 1 pour les croates... ça change complètement la physionomie du match si les Croates sont devant au score déjà que les français ne touchaient pas un ballon et n'arrivaient pas à sortir de leur camp... En menant ils auraient pu se contenter de gerer le match et jouer des contres rapides mais les français auraient été incapables de revenir sauf un miracle...
Qd aux 2 qualifications aux tirs aux but c'était 2 matchs pièges où les équipes se sentant inférieures jouent en bloc bas de 2 lignes et pressent le ballon, le Portugal a gagné l'euro de cette manière... d'ailleurs pour moi les croates étaient la meilleure équipe aussi du tournoi devant les Français et les allemands... l'Espagne est tombée dans ce piège en huitièmes avec une possession de balle ahurrissante et un record de plus de 1000 passes dans le même match... les Croates sont sortis de ce piège eux, mentalement c'est une grande performance au haut niveau... et contre le Danemark il faut aussi se rapeller que sans le tacle assassin sur Rebic à la 114eme les croates ne seraient pas allés aux penaltys (au passage le danois a reçu seulement un jaune pour ce tacle par derrière les pieds décollés du sol en étant dernier défenseur... le même arbitre que pour la finale mr Pitana ancien comédien...)
Contre les Anglais c'est le changement de systeme de jeu de passes courtes à passes longues qui a fatigué le bloc anglais chanceux d'avoir ouvert le score sur coup de pied arreté à la 5ème minute... et honnêtement les anglais n'avaient pas le niveau pour être en demi, déjà que c'était une plaie à voir contre des suédois exténués... en refaisant jouer le match 10fois les croates le gagnent 9 fois quoi ils étaient un ton voire 2 en dessous... au contraire les croates ont débuté tous les matchs à partir des huitièmes de la pire des manières et se sont toujours sortis des difficultés rencontrées... et en finale avec un jour de récup en moins et 90 minutes de plus dans les jambes ils nous ont donné une leçon de football, malgré ces coups du sort, dommage que nous n'ayons pas tous capté leur leçon d'humilité également... respect à eux ils méritaient la coupe...
