  • How to Install an NRG Quick Release Steering Wheel in Your Lotus Elise or Exige
    The Elise finally got a quick release steering wheel! This is an easy modification, but I wanted to make this for all my visual learners out there!
    This is an NRG Quick Release Hub, with NRG Lotus Hub Adapter, and an NRG Carbon Fiber 320mm Steering wheel.

    Hi Tony thanks for the video, I'm just considering the same for my Elise. What did you do in respect of the airbag light? Keep up the good work..

      I personally didn't do anything as the light has always been on for me (bad clockspring), however you have a few options:
      1: Use a 2.2 Ohm resistor (GRP will provide if buying through him). If the airbag light came on prior to you installing the resistor it will stay on until it's reset, so you want to make sure it is installed properly before putting power back to the car.
      2: Remove the pin out of the dash cluster that activates it, more info on that here: www.lotustalk.com/threads/airbag-light-which-wire-to-cut.100074/
      3: Use a tuner/software to remove the error. www.lotustalk.com/threads/airbag-light-on-how-to-find-it-out.105778/
      Hope some of that helps, and thanks for watching!

    I love this steering wheel but when I go onto the GRP website I can’t find this exact steering wheel. Do you think they no longer have it?

    • @TonyMaples
      @TonyMaples  3 года назад +1

      GRP is a dealer for NRG products and he can source you anything they sell, however he doesn't have it all listed as there are so many products. Reach out to him about it and he can get your setup!

    Question. How much closer is the steering wheel after the install vs. OEM wheel.?

    • @TonyMaples
      @TonyMaples  3 года назад +1

      It's very close to the same, maybe an inch closer. However I personally can't tell a difference!

    Link of quick release hub and adapter?

    • @TonyMaples
      @TonyMaples  2 года назад +1

      I don't have a direct link to these, however I source all my Lotus parts through Greg's Race Parts (he set me up with these). He has a large selection on his website, and if you send him a message he can order the right part directly for you if you don't find what you want on his site 🤙🏼

    What the heck! Everything is good except what the heck do you do with the airbag connector? There is no room to squish it behind the male adaptor and the space around the adaptor ring. I’ve tried wedging it in every direction. You left out the only tricky part in the whole process. The rest is simple enough a 8yr old could do it without the video.

      Yes - I know I'm a year late, but this is what I ran into as well. Are we to assume that we're going to clip the airbag wire??
