    Hi! I'd like to ask a question, is it necessary to create a UV map for an object? (anything, in particular, not just this cc)

      Only if you want it to have a texture!
      The uv map tells the texture where to go!
      If you have no map the texture will pick and choose any ol thing it happens to be ontop of x

    So Can i use nomad sculpt or any 3d software to make the orginal object and then import in blender and follow these steps?

      That's right!
      Blender is only needed to put it into the sims 4, Use what you're comfortable with!
      I don't use Blender at all D:

    what about textures? the video makes it seem like the textures are added automatically. are they?

      It seem I omitted that part based on an incorrect assumption!
      (I'll re do this video)
      The outdated video I created shows how to pop your image in:

      However as a rule of thumb,
      in s4s, with the default obj your using,
      export it's texture
      place the texture of your thing on it (that way you know the size won't be a problem for the game usually)
      make sure the uv of your object matches the new placement for your texture:
      on an easy way to move uv / resize textures in blender I've made this:

    need some help here, and it happens to everything I try to make. so basically the model works and everything, but the texture doesn't load and it's just some colorful background with a green question mark on it. it happened when I was trying to make a box and and a console. please, im stuck on that problem.

      Hi Jgaming!
      I know EXACTLY what the problem is.
      The picture you're using is too big,
      grab another object from the same category you're using and export the texture.
      Look at the Image size of it.
      Model your new texture's image size off of it! x

    Hello, I have a problem... I can´t join the two objects. Control J doesn't do anything for me, any suggestions? :(

      Hi mar mar!
      I've run into that before!
      (when in object mode)
      firstly make sure you've selected the original studio selected mesh first, then your object
      THEN
      with your mouse inside the viewport
      (the viewport is where your work is in the middle of the grid)
      click ctrl and J
      blender seems to be very specific about that I've noticed

    also where do i find the tab where it says cut=0? I do not have a s4s tab in my properties window? I need some help :(((

      at 0:46
      in blender
      there's a tab highlight under neath the list of objects on the right,
      click the same icon that i have highlit (it looks like a sphere, square and cylinder)
      it's at the bottom!
      Make sure you're in "object mode" with your desired mesh selected!

    when i go to save m finished product im able to se the 3d object, in color. as i go back in S4S and import the final saved blender file, I see the robot sims4 'toy' that i used as a mesh object, and i see the shape of the 3d model on it with no color--do you know why that may be? I followed everything as you stated, but when it came down to the instruction from :49 seconds and beyond, it messed up

      Make sure you go to the texture tab in s4s and upload your new texture!

    Hi there. So the files I import, the one I’m putting on the regular LOD is the one not named shadow and the ones I’m putting on Shadow LOD is the one named Shadow right?

      Hi User!
      That's correct!
      Put the "Shadow" mesh
      on the "Shadow" Lods
      and the normal mesh (with the colour!)
      on the Regular lods! x

    hiii pixi, i've only gotten a mesh to import with this tutorial once. I know the problem lies in me, but I need help troubleshooting. My meshes just say they're importing forever. I assume the poly count may be to high, so i decimate and optimize my topo and still - my meshes just say importing for hours. Only one mesh has imported. I never get any errors and when I do, it's typically cut number or bone issue and I'm able to fix the error message - but then it goes back to "importing" forever. I want to note that i delete the "transform" bone because when i do try to import it and leave it, it says "error: transform bone is not part of the mesh you are replacing" please help 😭

      hi cyber!
      the amount of topology you're importing is very important
      if there are too many squares it'll take a very long time,
      you will need to learn how to retopologise meshes in order to make them less weighty.
      in regards to the the other issues I can only summise that perhaps you're not joining all the meshes together?
      for instance if your original sims item has 3
      sims_studio_mesh_0
      sims_studio_mesh_1
      sims_studio_mesh_2
      it needs to leave with the exact same number.
      if you are exporting your blender file and it looks like this:
      sims_studio_mesh_0
      sims_studio_mesh_1
      sims_studio_mesh_2
      sonic_hat
      sonic hat would need to of been merged with one of the original studio meshes first.
      1 studio mesh is for shadows (so not that one)
      1 studio mesh would have the actual orignal mesh you'd want to overwite that one.
      by joining them (to the correct one)
      the same cut is transferred over reducing issues!
      If it helps perhaps my old "outdated video" will be helpful
      it's not really outdated it still works it's just when I was trying to work the youtube algorthim so if the high pitched voice aint happening for you, mute the video as it can be watched without it! x

      Unfortunetly yes x
      I've found if the blender version is too new it doesn't have what sims 4 studio needs to work properly,
      so you can use a new blender to work in, then when you're ready to port it to sims 4 studio put it in 2.79 or 2.80 and follow the rest x

    how do i add the model? i see you use the data previews, but anytime i import it that way it causes blender to crash for me :(

      can you explain "data preview" to me?
      I'm a maya gal i'm not sure about these other terminologies
      HOWEVER when I import a .obj or fbx,
      in blender go to > file> import> grab your file
      (or try append if it's already a blender file.)
      if your file is corrupt, the typology is too big it could cause your computer issues if it's not ready for that kind of task

      Your best bet is too search for things like;
      OBJ model download
      or type the name of the thing your looking for plus obj then download!
      Otherwise model resource is a goodgeenral place x

    when i merge mesh 1 and my desired object it turns white, is there something to fix this? (im making a clock

      Hi Coolgyal!
      That's because blender doesn't have a texture file for your new one,
      (i will say it's not too important to see the texture in blender, when you pop it into s4s and add your tecture there it'll show up!)
      HOWEVER if you want to make sure you add it... i think i show how to get it back in this videos:

      But if you wanna get straight to the point you may need to look up your q online (mine are white because I forget how to do it in blender and don't want to relearn hahaha)

      This is not an override so the toy will still exist!
      However if you mean you want your object next to the toy,
      do not delete the orignal toy's vertices and join it only instead! x
      bare in mind:
      you will have to merge your toy's textures with the toy you want to keep !

      Probably not. Sims 4 studio is made specifically for the sims 4, not second life!

    Why does it say on mine when i merge "no mesh data to join."

      Hi Kuro!
      That's a bit odd.
      Sounds liek there maybe something wrong with the file you're trying to join.
      I suggest you try it with another mesh, if it works with the other and not your desired one, that may indicate your mesh is broken and you may have to try again!
      Otherwise Other than slowely going back through the steps in case something was missed
      I suggest popping " no mesh data to join blender" into google with solved next to it as other people would have run into this!
