You are absolutely correct! Saw him last summer at The Rose Music Center in Huber Heights, Ohio while he was on his American Utopia tour and it was a spectacular show. I hope to get the chance to see him live again. The best part was when he basically stopped the show a few songs in and demanded--in his comically awkward David Byrne style--that they shut down the 2 huge LED screens that are on either side of the stage because they were extremely bright and distracting, they were also greatly taking away from the lighting effects that are incorporated into the show. It took them a few minutes to figure out how to completely shut them down, but he waited, and reminded us that the show is in front of us, NOT on those big screens. It was great, and he was right too. The Rose is not a huge venue and it really does not need those giant screens. The point of LIVE music is to watch the person/people performing on the stage in front of you.

I think it comes from the bad Western habit of considering only young products as only valid, whereas in most other cultures, masters are done with the benefit of time

I've been a fan of Talking Heads since I saw "Stop Making Sense" in a little arts theater in Philly back when it was released. And while I will always love Jonathan Demme's version of David Byrne's vision for the film, this is one amazing performance. David really channels Adrian Belew, who obviously had a big influence during his short time with the band.

A wonderful performance by David Byrne & his band here. I also compare him to Van Morrison in this respect - as both give us all majestic & outstanding 'muse'. They do always bring out the best in their support artists, and with any instruments & vocals, when joining the leader in song. Everyone is always smiling and energetic. Yes, I find that's not always the case. And to borrow from Van here, I do only mean that to be a 'wonderful remark' by me.
