David Byrne is a modern renaissance man -- and that's not just a cliché. From the heady days as co-founder of the celebrated art new-wave group Talking Heads (1976-88) through his own constantly evolving and innovative solo music career, he has pursued his muse on many different artistic fronts. He's been the driving force behind a body of work that has been both intellectually daring and commercially successful...and he shows no signs of slowing down three decades later.
Byrne is a bit of a musical genius. Do you agree?
Mark : there is no question
Without a doubt!
Just a small bit lol.
No I don't I think he is a lot more than a bit!
Absolutely, meant my comment as a sarcastic understatement 😊! Huge fan since Stop Making Sense came out!
His voice is as unique as it was in 1985
holy fuck, he can sing so good still at this age
no need to 'F' bomb
I have this theory that David Byrne took LSD exactly one time > He's been analyzing the experience, and writing songs about it ever since.
OneyedSon he has a sort of asperger or autistic spectre I’m afraid
I think the acid has sort of accentuated his uniqueness Makes him too fucking cool.
@@gigieinaudi24 which can certainly be seen as a gift 💝 in his case! So awesome 😎
@@redriverbluesman absolutely so mate...a gift of bloody god
Absolutely the coolest guy in music ever! I really regret never having seen the Talking Heads live.
Me too. I was a sophomore in high school when I was introduced to them, and that was right around the time they quit touring.
(sniff)
They were the best so alive with all their songs.
I don't think they ever came to NZ they would have been amazing to see live. I would go and see David if he came here even now though.
Except for Leon Russell, Billy Gibbons, and Noddy Holder! KOOL!! Love The Talking Heads!
One of musical artists I would go out-of-my-way to see live
I saw this taping of Austin City Limits, saw him a few weeks later in Austin, a few years later in Dallas, and I got to see his Broadway show on 1/1/20 in New York. He was even kind enough after the show to go out back and sign autographs and take pictures for fans before he rode his bicycle home in the cold NYC night. At least I had New Years Day 2020 and a few hours of American Utopia thanks to David Byrne!
Of all of Talking Heads songs, this is the one I've loved since a kid, it had the most staying power 💗💗
You gotta love this guy. He’s original, sings and plays well and his stuff is different!
His music causes me sink back in the past...
Why do we all love this man?
Loved him in the eighties and still do
Fantastic! Huge talent and longevity.
His voice is still the same! Brilliant!
Love ❤️ love ❤️ love this song
This song inspired me to get out of a bad relationship and I'll never be sorry for that moment of truth.
I have some friends that saw him live in NYC. They said he was terrific.
I always remember my first time talking mushrooms and being in the city with this
Amazing creativity. Mr Dave is my musical hero
He is a perfect looking man.
frigging awesome! love the fact that he explains the inspiration for his song. l.s.d. chick from high school.
Wonder what his secret is. He's scarcely aged! Brilliant song. Thanks for everything, David!!!!!!!!
Noel Riddell His shoes have changed. Gone from Keds to two tones☺
He probably didn't drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes.
Why would you doubt this for even a moment..? We're all tripping - just some of us havent noticed.
Happy 65th Birthday David Byrne
Lots of love here. Kinda refreshing.
One of Rhode Island School of Design's finest product, hope he's a generous donor. Rock needs more art school front persons!
This song is pure gold, a genius
He is a perfect looking man.
That was brilliant, man, the track needs more cowbell! :)
You gotta love this guy. He’s original, sings and plays well and his stuff is different!
never i mean always trsut bawmer girls says this og bawmer (long in the Southwest) fool love love love thanks!
He is a tune mechanic. The orchestral experiments and callaborations with St. Vincent and Bria Eno are all successful. I just don't know what is next but I'm going to be listening
I've watched this oodles of times, and I know David Byrne has his own ideas and loves to change things up, but this would benefit immensely with a keyboard in the mix. Noting overpowering, just enough to "fill in the voids' during the chorus. One of my favorite Talking Heads tunes.
Big Love ❤❤❤ So FANTASTIC 🎼🎙🎧👍
TOTally AWESum!
Thanks you for sharing the museic you guys are tots awesome also!
He is a perfect looking man.

Love you❤
excellent
I always wondered what the song was about and had considered it was a hallucination. I thought he was describing some supernatural event
One hell of a rythym section fo sho
Brilliant
Sir , thank you sharing your Musical Genius.. ❤️
❤❤❤😢
Genius
I always thought this was about a woman dying but felt it was a bit too upbeat to be about that. Now it makes sense.
phototristan Well... *"stop making sense!"* 😆
Walked right into that one, he did.
It still is, for some, a perfect description of the death experience as they imagine it to b. Art takes on its own life once it's created.
This is fucking superb.
I didn't know Kurt Warner could sing and play guitar so well
Top stuff - four piece band
He sounds better live than on the albums. How does that happen?
Even more sexy now . Thx genius♥️
Picnic en el 4b
yo pense que era dedicada a una chica, mas bien habla de psicodelia... ¡Me Encanta!
LSD what a great thing!!!! We should all experience something more than our earthly body.
No thank- you.
@@ItIsJustDucky It's easy to say no to things you don't understand.
@@jackstrawfromwichita6168 the 80's had some good acid. I'm so done with that.
@@ItIsJustDucky I can assure you that good acid can still be found today. But as someone who's done their fair share of it, there comes a point where you just don't learn anything new from the experience. So I understand your sentiment.
@@jackstrawfromwichita6168 I had some, extremely psychologically uncomfortable experiences with drugs in the 80's.
And she is because she was......
Sudden change of perspective on society and value.
That bassist/backing vox is fuckin clutch
Gotta give it up to the second percussionist, playing two instruments at once. 👍
He's still touring with David and leading the percussion section!
Great multi-tasker.
Agreed
🏴👍🍻
si si, habla de una chica que se mete LSD Me encantan los Talking Heads, Creedence, Depeche Mode y Taylor Swift
yo pense que era dedicada a una chica, mas bien habla de psicodelia... ¡Me Encanta!
Might be mistaken but I think this was a KLRN concert
que homem
👸🌎💃
What about the other David? Where is he?
From 2001, according to Amazon's listing of the CD amzn.to/3fsJF35.
STORKS!
a ge-ni-ous!
Wow. This should be one of the most Powerful Feminist song sung in 2020. Rise above. See what's really going on. Get out there and DO something. Singing it the next protest of any creation of patriarchal oppression. David Byrnes so far ahead of 1980s. Thank you David!
Picnic en el 4b
Gratefully we have a studio version...😂
LSD what a great thing!!!! We should all experience something more than our earthly body.

Go watch stop making sense. ..thank me later
No kidding. Been watching that since first discovered in the 80’s and turned many onto it. So fantastic!

Looks and talks like Carl Sagan and thats a compliment.
@blacksunfish Calorie Restriction. I'm not kidding, look it up.
Jamie Woodbury brought me here.
my most hated Talking Heads song
Drummers looks fresh out of county.
This left-handed bassist is interesting.
Flotte saker
